Woodcut Lvr
Hi guys. I'm sure most of you have at least seen me post here. I come to you today asking for your help. I, among other students, have been given the chance to leave the United States and study at a school in another country of my choice for 1 month - a year. I do have to get accepted first, but I do want to know my countries before I get accepted (If I do :3). I have broke it down to 3 countries. Where should I go? (I'm a sophmore in high school) Spain? Greece? France? I had a piece of grass on my shoe, and she wiped that off. Yeah. Impressive, eh? That's probably the closest I've ever been to having sex. :P
Nom
I think the idea is to choose the country that speaks the foreign language you are studying.
Lenticular_J
Spain or Greece. Both would be lovely, and France really depends on what part of the country. I'm not sure I would be able to choose between Spain and Greece. Both would be awesome. Something I want to say, though: If you feel like going out and looking around (which you probably will the first few weeks), ask your sponsors/family to show you the typical things, or special things that just don't catch a typical tourist's eye. Spain's language is a lot easier to read and hear, and it is just a beautiful country, just fantastic. But Greece, man. Also beautiful. And the water, and beaches. AUGH. I wish I could afford it. I've been asked to go to one of these as well. Oh well; I'd rather see the world over my thumb than with another huge group like me. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Woodcut Lvr
I think the idea is to choose the country that speaks the foreign language you are studying. No. It's just to go to study there. Nothing to do with the language. If it was, they would only offer Spain/others and France/Canada at my school. Spain or Greece. Both would be lovely, and France really depends on what part of the country. I'm not sure I would be able to choose between Spain and Greece. Both would be awesome. But, it's mostly paid for, besides Airfare and insurance + Any things that you would like to buy. (gifts) Otherwise, it's completely paid for. I had a piece of grass on my shoe, and she wiped that off. Yeah. Impressive, eh? venomai
I've studied abroad in Spain -- it was absolutely fantastic. Probably the best month of my life. Where would you stay in Spain? Where in France? Will you be living with other students around your own age? I have never been to France or Greece, but I can say with certainty that you will have a blast in Spain -- especially in Barcelona. Be sure to choose based on where you think you will have the most fun. :D Good luck.

Phil
Well what are you like as a person? Do you like the big city lifestyle? Like the beach lifestyle? Arty type person? What are you going to study? If it was me I would probably choose somewhere like Barcelona or Toulouse.

ThurinEthir
But what about your personality? You should go wherever you're most attracted to, which should be influenced by your personality... The only one I've been to is France (On vacation), it's pretty nice. I would prefer Greece over it any day though. I don't think I would ever want to go to Spain, it just doesn't seem like it'd fit me. Greece has history, culture, art, architecture, landscape...And you could go to Sparta. And yell "THIS IS SPARTA." And kick someone down a well. France is quite diverse. You have big cities, like Paris, which are filled with museums and famous structures. Then there are some smaller cities, I'd call Bordeaux one...Bordeaux is awesome, to be honest. France also has quite a few beach resorts/coastal towns, mainly along the south. And the countryside... urbestfreind
I would choose Spain..Then again, I love learning about Spanish culture, and it's my favorite language, plus I really dislike France... (and most of the French, for that matter) I know a few people who have studied abroad in different places, and everyone says Spain is beautiful. My grandparents have been all throughout Europe (save Russia, I think), and they loved it in Spain. Said the people were nice, the cities were beautiful, and the food was amazing. I know people who have been to Greece, and they say it's beautiful as well. I don't know as many people who have gone to Greece, but from what I've heard, it's a nice place as well. I suppose the decision would come down to what culture you would be more interested in. Spain just seems to be more fun and exotic than Greece. I love learning about ancient Greece though...Tough choice. You really can't go wrong with either place. If I was in your shoes though, I would pick Spain. I hope I didn't offend anyone too much in that post. (except maybe the French) [hide=Funny Quotes]So you sucker punched a kid in the back of the head? Good job. What scares me is that you're like 10 years old.-.- im not that freaking youngYou were a couple years ago. It's not racist if its true.Hmm... Nadril
I should add that out of those three places I've been to France (never did make it to greece/spain when I lived in Germany for 2 years). France is a very nice place, I've visited some of the smaller towns and then I've been to Paris as well. Really depends on what you want.

I don't know as many people who have gone to Greece, but from what I've heard, it's a nice place as well. I don't think he can go wrong whereverever he chooses, as you said. The chance to study in a foreign country for a year would be amazing. I've been to all 3 countries and my favourite place in all of them is probably Barcelona or Toulouse which is why I suggested those two. I wouldn't really call any of those countries exotic, but that's probably down to me being European and not North American? :P If I had to say one was more exotic I would say Greece. But really I don't know what the OP is looking for. He's not told us much. :)

warren211
Choose one that is closest to the language you're studying at school. Greece is pretty cool, but you'd probably have an advantage if you already know some of another language. I've been invited to those things before. About 6 different ones, but my mom wouldn't let me go on any (I got them starting at age 11 and up till this year at almost 15). Would've been pretty good on a college resume that I studied in several countries... it's an amazing opportunity and I wish I took advantage. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. I own. http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun. thrash-boy
where the bloody hell are ya? (click me plz!!! ) come to australia! we would be happy to educate you and for you to educate us about where you come from, im sure! but if you really cant then i have no idea what country to go to out of the ones you listed. Personally i wouldn't be interested in going to any of them 3, i just love where i live to much, i couldnt miss it for a year. but thats just my personal opinion. EDIT: when i finished watching that last vid i posted i found this one in the previews for others at the end: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=yMYk_k6T9dY&NR=1 it goes for a while but there were even a couple of things in their i didnt know (such as we invented the cure for anthrax, we had the first blackbox, and a few others (those facts start at about 6:15 in the vid))
