Jaggerum
Good read, personally i think its mage thats come along the most. With three spellbooks and loads of armours available. Range is a close second, with all the things you mentioned and melee the least, with only a few new armours and weapons - nothing new really just add-ons to exsisting things... Iwillnotexist
I am a lvl 100 f2p that has never been mem. I have a different opinion of the combat triangle. I believe Ranged to be first (which I extremely despise), Melee to be second and Mage to be far behind and dead last. Ranged is overpowered accordign to me. As proof: there is a vid on youtube of a guy hitting 45-46 with descent of dragons in bh ON A MELEE! How often do you see melees hitting 70+ on rangers? NEVER! And mages? well, being the first targets of melee, having robes that dont protect at all and having rangers always after them (because the Triangle of Combat correctly predicts mages get pwned by rangers), they never have a serious chance. My analysis is: Rangers are seriously overpowered, Melees are weak to rangers, and Mages are abysmally underpowered. My solution? Better mage robes, better Melee resistance to Range, and no cap on the max hit of mages. Otherwise the stats of all ranged weapons need to go down. PS: Never say the truth rangers dont have the courage to fight up close, cuz it can get you muted. Trust me. I learnt it the hard way.

Although you're mostly correct about what you said, videos on YouTube tend to be there because they are high or amazing hits, so results may not be typical. I have personally never been hit higher than 30-30 by someone with a Dark Bow and a Dragon Dagger can easily do that normally in the right hands. Perhaps it could suffice to say that melee and Ranged are overpowered rather than Magic being underpowered, although mages certainly need armored robes better than Ahrim's. jeroen00
It's not true what they say in the article, they forgot to mention the dark bow and dragon arrows! that put ranged on the map for good, for lyfe!
2HIGH2REPLY
I'm sorry to say, but dark you may have played classic but not enough. I have played this game since day 2 of full release on classic and I must say, range is by far one of the top skills on classic to have for pkers. Back when R2h's costed 600k-800k each to pvp with, all melee pures had 25 prayer for protect item. As this happened you would see level 45-60's with 25 prayer 40 attack 60+ str hitting 25's based on the old combat system. Mages and rangers were indeed the most needed pkers around, going back to speak with "A S H L E Y" who was the first pure to hit 99 range on classic, she undoubtably pked more people in classic with range than any other person to ever play, she infact killed me numerous times in full mith with 99 range hitting 15's constant without a second thought. When you would try to attack her, she would pull out r2h and hit constant 25's and 3 hit you down. Ok first of all props i have been playin since alpha test name = ladykilljoy i was one of a s h l e y's friends she was amazin but i must say my fav pker i made was when i was in the r o e clan i had 40 att 54 str 1 def 64 range 36 hits at lvl 31 there were 2 others same stats and 1 pure ranger with 82 ish range and it was allways us v. ilvllr gowrs and they were same stats as us with range hitin 12 and r2h str potted hitting 15 trust me it was the best times i have ever had in runescape mad props to everyone that came from runescape the rs2 kids dont know wut they missed p2p accounts r---o---e, gandolfdagry, knil15, f2p accounts 0z06, damit i died

Classic pvp was by far the best pvp system I have encountered over a stray of 100+ games that I have tested and/or played over the past 10 years. (Yes I do have 49 active accounts.. Lol, 8 years of playing, gotta have something to show for it.)
