bluehooloovo
Anyone else on Tip.It participating? What's your NaNovel about? Is your caffeine stockpiled? Have you won before? Have you participated before? My novel is about...something. I've got characters, but the plot has not shown up yet; I have loads of caffeine (unless my roommate found and consumed it); I've never won before; and this is my third year. So, yeah. NaNoers of Tip.It unite! [hide=]The light at the end of the tunnel is the demon-infested lava pit.17 blue = sadhoo = wholoo = 100vo = broken ice cream cone = sad children = sad babies = dead babies bluehooloovo = sadwho100deadbabies = Who is sad about 100 dead babies? Lenticular_J
I've head great ideas storming around my head lately, but I just don't have the time to compete. I might start preparing them in the summer, then editing them... But that wouldn't be as fun as hurried typing for 25 days. Nowish. But I really don't have anything in concrete. Maybe something involving racing, I dunno. What the hell is a nanowrimo. National Novel Writing Month. Now genuflect. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
llcoolguy972
Never heard of it, tbh, but it sounds kinda interesting. I don't really have the time or energy to churn out a novel that size, but I wish the best of luck to anyone that's trying. : Also, the site was down, but on other forums it said that you don't really compete for prizes or anything. Does the site display everyone's story after? Or the ones they think are the best?

Does the site display everyone's story after? Or the ones they think are the best? The site's always down the first couple of days, thanks to massive rushing. it dies down by the end of the first week. But no, no prizes, and stories aren't displayed. Just a nice feeling of accomplishment. Racing like NASCAR? Or drag racing? Or what? Mine might involve a world of superheroes... The main characters have powers anyway.... Needless to say none are of great quality, since it's basically a hand-cramping ink-flying scribblefest. Only typed. Which isn't my cup of tea to be honest. I'm too much of a perfectionist to fly through something like that with no deliberating or editing. And there's no way in hell I have the time any more. Lenticular_J
Yeah, now they give you a paperback proof of the book, if you have 50,000 words or more. I think there's a company that works with them and is part of Amazon; they publish and distribute it for you on Amazon. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Love your name and sig, first of all...even though it's Han that says "Never tell me the odds," not Luke. ;) And yeah, I sympathize with the perfectionist bit, and the lack of time. I'm going to end up writing on the bus and in between classes to get my 1667 words a day. I might try doing this then; that'd be sweet to have a real copy of a book I wrote.
Lenticular_J
Yeah, it's just a proof that they give you at first, but I believe you can set up to get artwork and the like added for a public distribution on Amazon. Won't have the cover theatrics of John Grisham of course, but it'd still be fun. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
stevepole
I'm still a little confused on what NaNoWriMo is. Better explanation plz?
Lenticular_J
You have 25 days (well, judging begins on November 25th) to write a 50,000 word (or longer) novel. If you do that, you win. And in recent years, you can have a small independent book publisher publish a paperback copy (actually a proof) for you. And if you pay them, they'll publish it for you and distribute it on Amazon (doubt it'd cost more than a hundred dollars, I need to look again). I have a couple of ideas. Dunno if I should go the war route or how I see my future as being. I wish I had a truly original idea. Just something like...Sliced bread :/ catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Zonorhc
I managed to squeeze out a piece last year. Not sure if I'm up for it this year, though. Nom
The problem I have with the concept is that I just can't bring myself to squander a good idea on something that will turn out to be pretty much crap below the standard of even dime novels. And it's not worth writing at all if I'm not going to put time and effort into developing an idea that has potential.
Lenticular_J
Could always start one and then send it to them. Might even feel better than basically vomiting words on paper to be judged. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
Mirror
I might be partaking in it. I am busy enough as is, but if I have spare time, I might write. I just put a bet with my roommate saying I could get at least 25,000 words. I think I can get at least that, right? A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind. doomy
No matter what I write about it always ends in Ninjas and car chases. I could never write 25000 words though, 500 is enough :P Doomy edit: I like sheep
Ouchy
I don't think I could write 25K words  I struggle to write 2000 as it is :? bluehooloovo
The pressure is what makes it fun! :P And the website is http://www.nanowrimo.org. It's a little slow right now, be patient. The site is always a little overloaded the first couple of days.
