Great Article, a bit short though. But really, there is no room for improvement in melee. It's really sad that we'll probably never see a 90 attack weapon. :(

Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color]

Was a good read, but yea, it was short :twss:.

Melee will probably always get new armours and weapons, untill they can't think of anything else. And an increase to hp? Maybe, but under set circumstances, otherwise tons of people would probably just chin or camp for long hours to keep increasing it.

The level cap is something which Jagex have shot themselves in the foot with, the biggest example is smithing. It appears Jagex are going to add Dragon Smithing in some form (With the recent "update" to the ancient cavern) and it's going to be interesting on high they do it. It looks like they have two choices, increase the level cap to allow for it or what's more likely from Jagex's previous updates is it'll be a mini-game or something similar.

If they get rid of one of the level caps then surely they all have to go? If they do it for hitpoints they'd surely have to do it for all other combat stats making the increase in available hitpoints pointless to a certain extent.

increasing all levels to 199 max would solve the problem

I hope they don't, getting 99 in a skill already takes forever, 199 is just too high to get for a normal human... (except no-lifers maybe, but i think it's even too high for them)

The problem is that runescape can't make too big changes to the things we already have. It would be possible to solve the problem by making RS3 and letting everybody start over, and if they do it right, it could be a lot bigger and more possibilities to make new updates. But letting everybody start over isn't what people want, so I don't think it should be done this way.

i really don't want to start over

i may not have any 99s, but a quest cape is still a big accomplishment

maybe "nerfing" but not totaly destroying the godsword would help, and rangers and mages need better weapons,

the crossbow is pretty good, i can hit 15-20s consistently with it, but with ancients, that's all mages have had for a looooong time.

They could add a new skill which works exactly like Hitpoints - maybe called Resilience or something - that way the max Hp would be 198. That's all I can think of really. :?

The prior discussion only deals with melee, ranged still cant hit anywhere close to that hard or fast and with armor that has huge bonuses against range, ranging an opponent is not the logical fighting method with the current weapon and armor choices.

My friend the Morrigans_javelin.gif does not agree.

I think instead of concentrating on melee they'll put more effort in range and mage,

mage could really do with a nice meaty update in my opinion, probably not a new spellbook , just some nice armour ;D

I disagree with the part on ranging. Ranging can also do KO hits, and does have whiplike weapons (= good, cheap training weapons). In fact, there are much more and advanced ways of training ranged (expensive and uber fast, or cheap and slower) than training melee.

Increasing the level cap would be a very bad option, even if it is a tempting solution. It is difficult enough to get level 99 in a combat skill, raising the cap would make the game into much more of a grind that it needs to be.

No, I think that player tactics needs to come more into play than simply getting a Ultra-Super-Double-Plus-Platinum-Diamond-Serrated-Great-Blade of Incredible-Godlike-Awesomo-Victory and blasting your opponent, as well as the local galaxy, into a black hole.

Good article, but like last week he forgot about the Dark Bow for rangers lol. Also Saradomin Brews and Summoning creatures can boost you to above 99HP.

I find that to be a very reasonable solution. It would introduce new health and also help solve the problem to a certain extent. Perhaps instead of introducing 99 new HP it should only introduce 11 new HP(one HP every 9 levels)?

Another solution which would lead to serious rants would be to reduce the max damage of EVERY melee weapon by a certain amount, which weaker weapons likely hitting the same as before, for obvious reasons.

Yea that's a really good idea. But O wait, monster hunting would then become piss easy. People seem to forget that PvP isn't the only place in which your HP is put to the test.
