What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?

Hooked on Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls lately. Leveled a Barbarian and Wizard to 70. Still prefer my Wizard, archon build. Rifts and Bounties have breathed a lot of life back into the game.

I actually started playing Torchlight 2 like a week and a half ago and 2 days ago i switched back to Diablo for some strange reason. i have D3 on Xbox so i guess i just wanted to play something on console again. Anyway i've been doing my first Inferno playthrough using a Witch Doctor.

Man... I sucked the first few hours. So many deaths it was insane. But i think i finally found a pretty good setup. I don't die nearly as often as i used to. Think i'm getting the hang of things now.

Also realised my lack of "research" on the game has caused me to miss out on so many things that could have made my time a bit more pleasant.

And i've wasted so much money the past 2 days on crafting gear... Until i found out that it's actually not a very good idea.

Oh well you live and you learn.

I'm still learning stuff on ROS, PC version and i have almost 200hours combined on my characters. The game is insane once you start min/maxing at level 70 torments, i'm having a great time trying to find a build that is viable for torment 2-3.

I watched some RoS footage on Youtube yesterday, for the first time. It actually looks really good. It's kinda sad that they're never gonna bring something like that to the old gen Consoles.

I might just have to get Diablo on PC at some point. But the thought of starting over again is just putting me off.

Don't fret they're adding Tiered Rifts and Seasons with 2.1 patch on PC. Both will have leaderboards and the Seasons will require a fresh start to participate so it might be best to wait if you're interested in that.

Squaresoft released Final Fantasy 3 on steam the other day.

I bought it then realized it wasn't final fantasy 3 and Squaresoft wasn't called Squaresoft anymore. :/

It is final fantasy 3, just the DS version

I've gotten back into Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. God I forgot how much fun that game is. Nothing better than sniping people with a heavy crossbow.

Unfinished netherrack symbol of Khorne.

Never forget. ~creeper face w/single tear~

DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?!?!

Got 7 days to die. I think this is going to be what I always wanted minecraft to be. A zombie survival game where the zombies are the big threat, with free form building to make your own fortress and defend it with traps and stuff.

I'll post this here, since this thread is kinda like "What did you do today (gaming related)". I bought a wired Xbox 360 controller because my wireless has reached its end. At first, the LS button wouldn't work at times. So I took it apart and deep cleaned it (not sure how much good this did). I continued to play with it and it was fine. Then, it started wonking out again, this time, while i would be sprinting, my character would randomly stop, and at times, even start going backwards. This was frustrating, so I just said screw it and bought a wired controller. I wanted a wired because a) it's a new controller in general and b) i could use it was my PC to play games that have controller support. This may make restarting the Mass Effect series more appealing. Which is other news. I think I'll start over on Mass Effect 1 mainly because I forgotten so much of the story since I last played (last Christmas). I'm doing to dread the elevators, but oh well.

I finally finished New Vegas, after a bunch of false starts over several years. Definitely the best game I've played this year, maybe in the past couple of years.

It's ridiculous how much stuff there is in the game. I finished at around 50 hours and I probably missed out on a good 25% of base game content, since I went for the independent path earlier than I felt I should have, locking myself out of some NCR quests I'd like to have done. I played as a Guns/Sneak dude, which got pretty easy towards the end, since even the harder enemies died in a sneak critical from an anti-materiel rifle. The ending was good, and at least this time I understand why they couldn't have a postgame, though it would've been really interesting to see the actual effects of your actions if they had included one.

The issues with it are obviously the bugginess, the crashes, the broken quests. Luckily playing on the PC and learning to mash quicksave fixed most of them without too big an issue. I'd also say wanting to have everything voice acted negatively affects their ability to have your choices intertwine with others even more than they currently, especially when it comes to the DLC, which pretty much necessitated being entirely separate from the base game. Though that's hard to reconcile with how dead some areas of the game would feel without ambient conversation (Freeside, New Vegas, mainly). Maybe they could voice act only the more important NPCs, I don't know. It's really funny playing through the DLC and seeing how their bad facial models change the characters in the DLC. GIANT ROBOT FACES, GAS MASK, MUTE, BANDAGE FACE, BLURRY TV SCREEN. All solid ways of letting your characters deliver lively dialogue without it looking awkward coming out of a botox-injected face.

As for the DLC, I'd probably rank it (from lowest to highest) this way: Honest Hearts, Dead Money, Lonesome Road, Old World Blues. Again, it might be the best put together series of DLC I've seen, in how it all fits together, how all the characters in the DLC have generally interacted with each other in some way, how it's all building up really well to Lonesome Road.

With Honest Hearts, I really enjoyed the story, it was the environment that put me off. Not too many interesting indoor areas, kinda confusing layouts in places. I think it would have been more interesting letting your caravan live, too, or at least some members. Seeing their interactions w/the Tribals and also having them help out in the attack/escape would've also been nice. And maybe some more Tribal characters to interact with.

The first part of Dead Money was the first time I actually felt creeped out playing the game. The ghost dudes were really hard to kill with my build before getting into the casino, so it amounted to a lot of sneaking and then blind fleeing when I got caught. V. atmospheric. Taking the characters to their posts was a bit annoying since they didn't understand the meaning of stealth, but that was okay. Inside the casino was a lot easier, but the characters definitely carried the gameplay the rest of the way. Another situation where it would be cool to bring back characters from DLCs. It would be rad as heck taking Christine to talk some sense into the Brotherhood of Steel chapter.

Lonesome Road was real good, Ulysses was definitely worth the buildup throughout the game, and the themes he dealt with were v. compelling in the game's context. I didn't like how he chastised you for launching the Ashton missile, since it ran into the Spec Ops problem, where you can't progress in the game if you don't launch it without just stopping the DLC altogether. The enemies got a bit wonky thanks to me being higher than I should have, with Deathclaws often killing me in one hit, which got a bit annoying, though fair, since I was doing the same thing. I wish we got to see a bit more of the Divide's community rather than just Marked Men, though I guess it reinforces Ulysses' point how it was something the Courier did that had literally no effect on him. I missed out on the two post-DLC zones, since I stopped the missiles altogether, but from what I experienced in the Courier's Mile, they would've been hard as shit.

And finally Old World Blues. Funny as shit, every area has a purpose, you never feel like you're wasting time in some pointless cave, the Think Tank was a great reward, it was kind of the area that tied all the DLCs together. The downsides would be some of the random spawns in the overworld got annoying after a time, and maybe that the giant robo-scorpion as the final boss was a bit of a let down?

And now I realise how much I typed about a videogame and hide it all in spoiler tags so I don't feel so ashamed.

This post inspired me to play some New Vegas, and this time I really took my time. It's much better than I remember it, but I can't get over how nothing seems to do any damage. Doesn't help that I pissed off the Legion early on.

The last time I played New Vegas I made an Asian character named Kung Pow and only used Unarmed weapons. The first few levels were tough but once I got a decent set of armor and a pair of brass knuckles it was all over. So much fun running around the Mojave punching everything in sight.

My last New Vegas playthrough devolved into unarmed after I got low on ammo, found Love and Hate and that was it.

PC: I've been playing Max Payne. I finished the first last night and loved it, even if I replayed the final section a million times because I couldn't get it right. A bit clunky, but still solid and fun. It's acceptable, though, as it was released in 2001. I hated the dream sequences, though, they were dreadful. I'm onto the second now and the looks alone are about a hundred times better than the first. I've heard the second is commonly chosen as the favourite of the trilogy. We'll see.

PS3: My Ratchet and Clank HD trilogy journey has slowed significantly. I've platinum trophy'd the first two and am now at about 80% done with the third, just have to grind all my weapons up to Omega and I'll be done and will get the Platinum for that along the way. I've only done four/five weapons so far, and there are 20 all up, so yeah. Shame I've already done the Qwack-o-blitzer and Liquid Nitrogen guns. They're my favourites.

360: I bought a 360 for cheap a couple weeks back, it's pretty cool. I've been playing Forza Horizon when the mood hits. Pretty excellent racer, though the racer formula is pretty hard to screw up. Pretty nice soundtrack. The 360 controller still doesn't fit right in my hands.

My nephews have Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U, and I was housesitting/dogsitting for them for the weekend. So I was able to play it and experience how the game can be rigged for myself. I can't count the number of times I was in 1st place for 2/3 of the race and then I got [bleep]ed by so many things in a row and dropped to 6th.

It was fun, though... for the most part.

Acquired KOTOR, KOTOR 2, Nox and Patrician 3. Summer of gaming awaits!

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

I've played through New Vegas twice, and I don't think I've probably only ever seen half of the base game. Did the same thing the first time I played Skyrim. Haven't gone through Vegas again since picking up the DLC's because I'm watching Gophers playthrough of it right now, and I'll need to take some time after that before playing the game myself wont be boring.

Picked up SpinTires which has finally hit a retail release. It's not an easy game, so if you aren't good at driving games, you will probably despise this one. That out of the way, the physics in this game are nothing short of spectacular, as is the terrain deformation (and it's doubly impressive when you realize this game only has a single coder who also built the entire game engine himself). Also managed to release it with a pretty minimal amount of bugs, and the only one I found (and I think the only serious one) has already been patched.

But what really impressed me are the cranes some of the trucks carry. I have never played a game where using a crane or other object (like a forklift) to pick up other little objects has been anything but a royal pain in the ass. In this game, it can actually be really fun to just take a couple minutes and use your logging crane to clear some of the more offensive rocks off a path to make driving easier.

Also of note since I show it off so much in the following screenshots, when using the winch to tow vehicles, there are options to control the towed vehicles steering. Left and Right are obvious, and auto will attempt to follow you, which makes towing things around relatively pain free.

And here are a few of my screenshots to accompany some of the fun I was having yesterday:

[hide]

When the little ZIL can't make it across a river, the local Ural is always happy to lend a hand and tow it through upside down and flip it back over:

xc0tn4.jpg

Deciding that it needs backup, the Ural decides to take the ZIL home with it:

1g0j9f.jpg

This turned out to be a fantastic idea. Here is the ZIL with a utility trailer inspecting an accident. Unfortunately, the little ZIL was unable to help the Ural, so he continues on with the trailer to repair someone who can; the Kamaz:

azhpjq.jpg

The ZIL wasn't able to climb the next hill to go repair the Kamaz the Ural needed. So the Kamaz, very slowly and with less than 100 health left, came to the ZIL for repairs and helped it up the hill before heading out to help the Ural:

w4i1g.jpg

Teamwork Saved the Day. Once the ZIL was safely at the still locked garage, the Kamaz made it's way to the Ural and got it back on its wheels. The Ural then set off once again and finished unlocking the second garage.

This one isn't part of the story, but I though I would show it off anyway. It's form later on with the same map, now driving a Kraz (very much like the Ural). The mud is so deep, but I'm not quite stuck.

Been taking a break from Diablo 3 (probably will be till RoS is released) and been playing a lot of MW3. I feel like this could have been the best CoD with a few small changes. If IW and 3arc sit down and share some ideas, i think something good could come from it. I have always liked MW3 a lot simply because i feel it had decent maps and gun balance. Sure, the Type 95, ACR and MP7 might have been slightly OP, and Assasain too, but with a few fixes it could have been the CoD everyone always wanted to play. In my opinion if Assassin was more like Ghost from BO2, it would have been perfect. If the ACR and MP7 weren't complete lasers, it would have been a lot better. And i feel like the Type 95 needed a bit of a damage reduction. Ive been using the Type 95 for a while now and the amount of crossmap 1 bursts i get is kind of stupid. Also, lethal killstreaks in Supports (Stealth Bomber), should not be there, and to make Air Support more useful i think Sam Turrets should have had a red box around them too when you're in a killstreak such as the Predator, Reaper, AC-130, etc.

Obviously even with all those changes there will always be some way to bs the game. Doubt i'll ever spend money on another CoD anyway.
