Black Berry Storm or Iphone

Lacoste

Recommended Posts

Well, there's the question, im not a huge business person, but i like what the black berry offers with the click able screen making it easier to text, but the iphone is downright appealing and user friendly... I also want to be able to use the phone for music and other random applications.

Should I wait until the storm comes out ( I live in Canada) and if anyone knows, apparently it is coming out on Friday November 21st, if it is that soon, I will wait, but if its coming out in months i might not wait.

Which one would you get and why? Thanks alot, if you have any other ideas, they would be greatly appreciated as well.

Blackberry, but only because I have an intense dislike for anything with Apple's logo on it.

i've honestly not used either the iphone or a storm (for obvious reasons on the storm) but i do own a blackberry 8300, and it works damn well for my music. with the 16gb micro sd card compatibility on the storm, you can hold a lot more music than my curve, i've only got a 2gb micro sd card in it now, although i think it supports up to 4 gb. the iphone is nice, one of my friends in mississippi has one, but honestly, if i had verizon wireless, i'd go with the storm for sure, simply because of the fantastic experience i've had with my blackberry curve.

For business use get the blackberry for general use get the iPhone.

I own an iPhone for personal use (unlocked of course as 02 don't cover my area) and its one of the best all round phones I've had. But the lack of business apps and usage would make me think twice about using one for work.

Blackberry's on the other hand are designed for the work place. I've setup and used them in the work place and I my say they live up to there reputation.

Err, the iPhone has support for MS Exchange as well? Both are decent for business, but the BlackBerry wins, hands down. But, since you're just a casual user, I'd get the iPhone. I bought the black 8GB, and I'm happy I switched from a basic cell phone. Use of WiFi, 3G in my area, GPS(with turn-by-turn coming on 2.2 (Nov. 21st)), best music interface and design on the market, Apple's fantastic customer support, upgradability, and the iTunes App Store (I never thought it was a big deal, until after I saw the applications you can put on it, it's really the thing that makes the phone worth the start up price.) Before you buy one check your area from 3G support, and if you don't have have 3G just buy the original iPhone with the 2.0 software, as it's $10 a month cheaper.

Yeah, also I'd check out the storm and the iphone before committing; go somewhere where they are and try one. (or get a friend that has one)

Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again

iPhone is overrated... too laggy in my opinion...

Er, I don't mean to impose, but do you have one? What lag are you talking about? The only apps that are possibly laggy are those that require internet service, which is to be expected or those with high memory demands. And call quality is superb, it had some issues when it was released, but with all the firmware updates, that's been fixed. And hands down, it has the best HTML browsing of any mobile phone. On the downside, if you text or e-mail a lot, the touchscreen QWERTY keyboard might take awhile to get used to, and it's a bit harder. But there's a reason it's the #1 selling phone this quarter, 10 million sold so far I believe.

The Storm has no wifi, nuff said. Verizon wants to milk every dime out of you and forces you to use data at all times instead of faster wifi. The Storm does have a better touch screen keyboard than the iphone because of the click screen technology. If you want a smart phone like the iphone with a keyboard, check out the Tmobile G1, it has tons of apps like the app store for the iphone and they're all free till the end of the year.

Sweet, 45 days of free apps! I can't wait to get attached to a few and then lose them!

But for the main issue, no, the BlackBerry doesn't have Wifi built-in. But, you can use DUN with a laptop to get the connectivity. There's quite a few things that I could say about the G1, but I'm not going further off topic.

The choice is a hard one. iPhone has Wifi access, but a nearly impossible to use keyboard. On the other hand, the Storm has an easy to use keyboard, but if you don't have a great 3G connection in your area, you're pretty much screwed (although you could tether it to your laptop, I'm not sure how well this works). The Storm has a higher resolution and a much, much better camera than the iPhone, but it also weighs a lot more and lacks multi-touch. The lighter iPhone has a lower resolution, bigger screen (.3 inches larger), and more memory (up to 16gb, from the Storm's 8, unless they finally upgraded it to a possible 16GB).

It really depends on what you want to do with it. If you're a texting freak, and you like to take pictures, and have good 3G coverage, go with the Storm. If you absolutely need Wifi, or...uhh...really need Wifi, then go with the iPhone.

I knew somebody was going to bring this up and have no idea what their talking about. Every app is free and they are not trials, you get to keep them, they are full apps. You don't lose anything. Next year there will be paid apps like the Apple app store but for now those same apps are free. Such as the pacman is free on the android store while it's about $5 for the same exact one on the apple store.

Forgot my [sarcasm] tags there. My bad. I may only have a 3.45 gpa, but I'm not stupid.

So you can get free games. Big deal. If you want to play mobile games, buy a PSP, DS, or pre-order the Pandora. The blackberry does come with a few free games already installed, like breakout, to kill time, but that's not what they were designed for. They were made for business purposes. Yes, they can do things like take pictures and hold music, but that's not their intended purpose.

If the user wants music, go with the iPhone. Mac has done a fantastic job on the iPod, and that legacy carries over to the iPhone. However, if you want texting or to do projects and email on your phone (I know I wouldn't mind typing up some of the projects I have due each week on my phone on the ride to and from school, or being able to take long notes without carrying around paper and a pencil everywhere), go with the BlackBerry, and if you still want music, go for a iPod Nano or something.
