I do not breathe.I have been exposed to air for so long it has adapted to my lungs, and it requires me to continue existence, instead of vice versa.

Although I guess the Illuminati in my blood could've helped.

It's biologically impossible for a man to stop peeing mid-stream.

I would disagree with this.

The last time I had to provide a urine sample, the doctor advised that I fill two containers, one with the first half of the process, and the other with the second.

It feels strange because it isn't something you normally do, but it is possible to at least pause your discharge.

I assume the bladder releases chemicals or nerve signals when it needs to be emptied.

It is possible to stop mid-stream, but it leaves you with a feeling of intense dissatisfaction, it will annoy you for the rest of the day.

The bladder is not the one that releases the actual chemical signal, it is the hypothalamus which regulates osmotic homeostasis throughout the body. All in all, the bladder can hold approximately 1.5 L in fluids at a complete maximum. The bladder filters the blood through the nephritic system in which the maximum urine capacity is 600 ml. At around 150 ml, the bladder will start to have a pressure on your surrounding tissues to contract and to release all that excrement. The more and more you approach the 600 ml, the less voluntary control you have over your bladder. As it increases near the 600 ml point, it starts to act as a myogenic muscle to get rid of the waste stored to prevent urinary poisoning of the body.

To the point; it is well feasable to stop during the mid stream emptying of the bladder, but the pressure of the urine going through the urethra would be very painful and/or uncomfortable.

Things like breathing and blinking are voluntary actions. You can't control things like youe heart beat and blood pressure, that's involuntary.

Interesting that some animals can do that, like the Thorny Devil lizard, which can raise the pressure of blood in its head to make blood squirt out of its eyes as a defence mechanism.

Spitting venom would be cooler. :ugeek:

A mate of mine can. I've tried a few times but can only manage a few seconds. Good fun.

This whole thing about doing things but not remembering that you're doing them.

It reminded me of the game.

I hate you.
Cool.

It's very possible biologically for humans to:

Stop urinating 'mid stream'

Raise or lower their body temperature

Control their heartbeat per minute

There's even books on the latter subject, search google books for "Buddhist Psychology: A Modern Perspective" for a free read. People can slow their hearts to 20bpm or less, cool/heat their bodies by -10/+10 celsius degrees.. By using their minds and meditation practice.

I can stop peeing mid-stream, zip-up go to a different urinal and repeat until someone walks in... Its a great game to play if you are alone and bored in a public toilet.

It does feel weird though haha

You get bored in a public toilet often eh?

I think I can stop peeing in mid-stream, harder when sitting that when standing though.

Ooo... I've got synaesthesia too! :D Probably not in the same degree as Elisabeth, but it's there. Still, synaesthesia has some bad sides as well, such as I have problems understanding a word if the background colour makes me think of another word.

Great clip, thanks. But I hate how the scientists try to spin this into genetic modification and "allowing everyone to have these traits", as if it's some paper form on which you can browse though a checklist for abilities for your child.

Passing on gene cells that make a child immune to some hereditary diseases, cancers, etc.. Is a good thing. Giving unique traits like synaesthesia, deep cold resistance, ultra-fast processing speed of numbers, to everyone, doesn't just feel right.

The people that usually hold these traits are more often than not stunningly intelligent and creative, these special traits shouldn't be spread out by the millions to just everyone like vaccines.
