Slayer Dart vs. Fire Wave

I started doing barrows again. I have heard a lot of people saying that both are better than the other.

 

I tank the melee brothers (except dharok) and I noticed a lot more splashes while using fire wave.

 

 

 

Does anyone have any numbers they wouldnt mind sharing?

Fire Wave is sometimes expensive, with a higher max hit (20).

 

Slayer Dart is sometimes less expensive, with a slightly lower max hit (18-19).

 

 

 

The reason I say sometimes is because the GE price of blood runes and death runes are always somewhat similar, deaths are more expensive atm, but you need elemental runes for fire wave.

 

 

 

I find fire wave better because it gives more XP and tends to hit higher more often.

In terms of hitting, I find fire wave to be better, and I think it's ususally cheaper, or maybe a little more expensive thanks to the airs/fires you need to cast it.

Fire wave gives much more XP and hits 2 higher at your level. Use it.

Anyway, Slayer Dart is cheaper than Fire Wave in term of cost per cast and you can get back most of the runes from the Barrow Chest.

ya thats kinda my reasoning for slayer dart. With slayer dart, i usually get one splash and thats on karil, but with fire wave i was splashing like 3 times each on torag and dharok.

 

 

 

New Question: Black Salamander, is it better than both of those?

It can attack behind the obstacle even in Scorch Mode.

 

 

 

But it can only used next square to an enemy, so tanking is essential.

Lucky me i tank them anyways =P with the occasional side step and 5 secs of no damage.

Very effective, it has 59 slash bonus and 69 ranged bonus and, to top it off, 71 Str bonus.

don't waste your tar on karill or ahrim. melee them both. and the black sally is effected even more by mage bonus since you cant use a staff to boost it.

 

 

 

sally is a tiny bit faster but you get like 1/3 of the xp you'd normally get. plus you need to wear ahrim's bottoms for it to be any good. not worth it imo.

 

 

 

I did 50 or so runs with a sally. I prefer fire wave though.

you actually fail there, many people believe it's true, but is not ! true, the reason that people believe it, is because most people only use it on barrows, the point is, barrows have the worst magic defence bonus off all armour !

Yeah u get a lot less exp than u would get with fire wave but sallY is much faster. Also you DONT need to use ahrims bottom in order to kill brothers efectively , I use torag pl8+verak skirt and have no problem killing the brothers hitting them constantly

But for slayer dart you keep mind and death while you sell chaos and blood and you rarely have to buy more death or mind runes.

Are you sure? I was aware that Black Salamanders weren't affected by mage bonus. Slayer Dart however is (although in experience it's barely noticeable.).

I tried Black Sallys for the first time yesterday with Veracs Helm, Brassard and Skirt, Fury, D Boots, Barrows Gloves, Zamorak Cloak (and er, ring of life : ).

 

 

 

It works brilliantly. I took defender, DDP and Whip as well, including 1 super att and 1 super strength, 5 prayer pots, and 10 pineapple pizzas. Oh and holy wrench.

 

 

 

I managed 5 runs without banking (would've been 6 if Dharok hadn't been in tunnel), used on average 1 dose per trip (take out the automatic 2-3 doses you need for Dharok each time through).

 

 

 

DDP spec on Karil and Ahrim, switching to Whip after specs. With 96 defence I didn't need to pray against Torag or Guthan on any occasion, and I could've easily got away with not praying on Verac. But being the waster I am I went and did it anyway.

 

 

 

So, yes, Black Salamanders are brilliant IMO.
