Important note: A file name alone may not be enough for positive identification. PC Pitstop's full tests and spyware scan use information such as the company name, product name, or install directory. If you are unable to identify a file, ask about it in our forums after running our full tests.

The forums have a general amount of activity, look through there and decide if you want to run the full test or whatever it is that they claim will work to identify processes.

*Tbh they have a really nice tech oriented forum...*

Right click and open the file location to see where it is at too, and if it's in a totally unrelated file to McAfee, run a scan on it with something, or just remove it. Or post where the file is saved too if it's not in a related file to McAfee before doing anything as well.

Apparently it's not recommended to be removed either.

McShield looks like Mcafee. If you end it, it will just end your virus scan process.

How about you google "McShield[Caution: Executable File]" ?

It's part of McAfee. McAfee is resource intensive, so I'd recommend installer something lighter like Avira (free)/NOD32 (pay, with free trial) if it's causing you problems, both are excellent AV software.

And having that many processes running at once won't help either. I'd seriously try cutting down the amount of stuff you run at startup.

^beat me to it.

Post some sceenshots of your startup processes (start > run > "msconfig" (without quotes) > startup tab). By doing that, we will be able to tell you what you can stop safely, and hopefully increase the speed of your machine.

You were a couple years ago.
It's not racist if its true.
Hmm... I wonder how one goes about throwing someone out a window in a mystic fashion :-k

The mental image for that is freaking awesome.

Why do you have AVG and McAfee? You should never have more than one antivirus on your computer.

its a "run-time" shield used by a [cabbage]ty virus-protection program, probably mcafee, just set your anti-virus program to not have the "shield" on, it basically scans EVERYTHING before you see/open it

Uninstall McAfail and get a better anti-virus such as NOD 32 or alternatively, a free one such as Avast!. For firewall get COMODO.
