CookMePlox
Yup, another "what-if" question. After encountering many...shall I say, snooty members, who say "F2P is a demo, Jagex should get rid of F2P" I've realised how much F2P players affect the game. Not even including bringing new players into the game, F2P players provide the raw materials (Yew Logs, Gold Ore, Lobsters, etc...) that make training those consumption skills (Cooking, Fletching, Smithing) that much easier for Members. The F2P game provides a market for the Treasure Trail items that are available to F2P, such as God Armours, Trimmed Items, and others. F2P also provides a market for armour, and even the arrows that are made in Fletching. F2Pers also consume (not eat :P ) a large portion of the Nature Runes made by Runecrafters. I could go on and on about the benefits of F2P to members, but I suppose you've got other threads to read. PLEASE NOTE: I am not saying F2P should be gone in ANY WAY, in case anyone thought they picked that up from the title. Neither am I asked Jagex for an update to the F2P part of the game. Troacctid
Nobody says Jagex should get rid of f2p. Where'd you get that? :?: Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP
Skull
If they were to take away f2p right now, the economy would have some issues, plenty of players would be forced to quit, and JAGeX would lose money of potential future members and possible revenue from advertisements. If f2p had never existed, Runescape wouldn't exist. [bleep] the law, they can eat my dick that's word to Pimp
The Observer
To be honest, if F2P wasn't around, RuneScape wouldn't be as popular as it is now. Since it has lower graphics, there's a much larger market. You see, if two players are playing F2P, they might tell some of their friends. Some of them could become potential members. Eddo89
Simply put, I won't be playing RuneScape. Templar GuardiansWhen are trying to lend something, the word to use is borrow. Not barrows, which is a mini-game.
Italian5kamikaze
Simply put, I won't be playing RuneScape. Yep. I doubt a lot of people would pay whatever it is now a month to start playing a random game. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes. fat_klutz
Yes, members would get [bleep]ed and then cry to have F2P back even if it meant giving them w.e they wanted. Central_Keeper
There are several topic thats very similar to this one, but I think the bottom line is that, if Jagex removed all the F2P, P2P would greatly influnece just for a while, and settles down again (much reduced). From a business point of view, its a bad sense that you get no ingame referals and people trying out and possible incentive to become P2P. No one would want to pay for a game without trying it out (I would do that for PC game, but not for a online Java based game, but those PC game usually have demos) so it would make them lose money big time. It would be interesting if Jagex would take F2P servers offline for like 2 weeks, and leave only member server on. then we will see the effect of suddenly losing one steady supplier. In fact, when RWT and autoers were removed, we already saw price gone up and all sort of items shortage simply becase Before autoer: price stable During autoer: normal player can't compete with cheap price of autoers, and they can't compete with their mass armies taking over spots During autoer phase 2: alot of people give up gathering resources since price of items become low. so autoers are pretty much controlling the stock of items, and people with more gp keep buying from autoers instead. After autoers removed: normals players werent gathering, autoers weren't gathering, so items drop down and price gone up Some example: Yew logs before: 250, now 450+ Raw lobbies: 250, now 330 Normal essence: 20 to 40, now, pure essence 150 or more, normal ess hitting 44 Yew logs is sort of ok since people cut them to get higher wc lvl, same goes for fishing. But as for rune essence, well, its has lower mining xp, and ok cash (not good for higher lvls), all prices gone up after removal of autoers (removal of the dependencies pretty much), I really doubt alot of higher lvls would want to mine ess or gather flex all day. Most that most higher lvl players would do more xp efficient style of training then gathering resource type (especially if they are not worth that much) a happy Runescaper
Racheya
If there was no F2P, Runescape would be dead. Simple. I edit for the [Tip.It Times]. I rarely write in [My Blog]. I am an [Ex-Moderator].
munkis
what people forget is that p2p was launched as an extra thing to the runescape game ofcourse now p2p have grown so much it gets harder too look at it this way but as uve reasoned with urself it still is the very base of runescape and not a demo and on the cash thing the more jagex keeps aiming for younger and younger people ofcourse less will pay kids dont get a kreditcard and try new java games all the time hehe they need to get addicted and beg their parents for it

Viv
no new players would come in to compensate for the quitting players. f2p is needed!
dogman91100
I think they should eliminate paying for the game. Then everyone would be able to access the same parts of the game. I don't want them to get rid on f2p because as he stated that's our raw materials. I think that they should come out with f2p updates every once in a while to keep f2p's going and mabye wanting to become p2p.
tintin113
If there was no F2P, Runescape would be dead. Simple. That pretty much sums it up. Either that or Jagex would make trees and such give rocks and fishing spots and trees 10x logs and cutting speed, but 1/10 of the xp, to keep a good amount of raw materials in the game. There's probably a hel of a lot of other stuff that would go downt he drain that they'd have to sort out too, but can't think of them. Lielac
Okay, I'm a P2P. I'd quit and go try to calm down hysterical siblings -- because no f2p = they can't play = I won't play = one less subscriber for Jagex. Balance may be power, but chaos is still pretty damn fun.Canada can't be second rate, polar bears are their main mode of transportation.
