Why is dragon plate dropping so much?

I think its becuase people started selling them becuase the price got so high, don't know if that's right though.

Because it is not hard to get that extra 10 defense levels for barrows and once you do torags is a far superior armor in every way and much cheaper.

That doesn't really explain why dragon plate rose by 10m+ then dropped 10m+

Everyone wanted it the first day, then they realized how useless/ easy to get it was.

It was given a 30m price tag at the start by Jagex so before stats were wide spread people obviously assumed it was good. They order one on the GE for max because they want one ASAP. Word gets around about 2 days later (As shown by graph) that it isn't half as good as people though and people want to get rid of it. Plus with the release of claws if people have that kind of money they are probably going to invest in something actually good.

Does that explain it?

yes however, if I had the money I wouldn't care what the stats are I would still get the plate

I highly doubt it was about the stats.

Everyone knows that dragon will NEVER reach barrows in stats.

The dragon plate pieces were easy to get as a drop and add to the fact that people who completed the quest would get a random piece.

These pieces sold for MAX and were worth 10m.

When people saw this, they did the quest.

If everyone who had a quest cape did the quest, and the pieces being dropped, it was just a matter of time.

I myself made 10m of the dragon plate before it crashed.

Was hopeing to get more, but i knew it would drop sooner or later.

Den I think you give the average scaper to much credit. Sure they should know Dragon coul dnever reach barrows like stats, but many scapers still have the mentality that everything new must be the best (new armour gets compared to barrows, new weapons to the whip).

But it is also easy enough to get I guess, and from the GE picture I know understand why in the last day 6 seperate people have asked me if I have a dragon plate on. It is almost identical to a d chain. It should have arm plates, but I am guessing that it does not.

I will svae my money so that one day I get a DFH, I am not going to waste it one an expensive ugly version of my d chain.

Only 10m?

I made 17m without doing the quest.

It dropped because of all the pieces tbh.

Jagex waited far too long to release the Dragon Platebody. If they were to have released it 2-3 years ago it would have been huge news, now the only reason peop;le got excited is because they've been waiting for it for years, but stat-wise it's not something most would use. Hell, anyone who has 30mill will surely have the stats for Barrows sets, which are better and not as costly.

Pretty much what Dragon said.

We have made a couple of changes to the behaviour and drop tables of the tormented demons. Due to the layout of the area they are in, they didn't behave the way we had planned, and a knock-on effect of this was that they became a lot easier to defeat. We also made an error when we calculated how many demons players would normally be able to kill over a certain period of time, which resulted in the dragon platebody parts being dropped at a more frequent rate than we had intended. To fix these problems, and to balance the demons to our initial design, the following changes have been made:

* The demons will behave more appropriately against Ranged and Magic attacks, and not try to use melee attacks if the opponent is attacking them from a distance.

* The drop chances of the individual dragon platebody pieces have been reduced to give the drop rate we intended, considering the frequency at which they are killed.

This will probaly have an impact on the price of the plate in the future.

Ugh, why is there a topic made for every price change?

Jowa_Dead , this is mainly the work of merchants. Everyone knew the Dragon Plate wasn't worth the price because of how common it was, so merchants bought out the chains. We all knew this, people would want the chains again because of how cheap they were compared to the chain and how overall, they looked better.

Profit's a great thing.

The D Plate graph a typical example for the prices of a newly released hyped up item. It rises very quickly, then when the hype dies down the price plummets.

The D chain price has a reciprocal relationship the D plate price as they compete to serve the same function. People ditched the d chain, as was predicted, to get a d plate, then when they realised that they were paying too much for something which was not much better in it's purpose (i.e. good looks), they went back to the d chain because it's cheaper.

because every kill at demons is a shard drop

-.-

Spent the last 2 days killing them and got nothing... and now I find out that they're even rarer lol.

However I can't explain the rise of the dragon chain.

It's not because Barrow's armour is better than Dragon Platebody that it crashed.

You know what's worse than Barrow's armour too?:

- Third age armour

- Bandos Armour (don't go: "OMG, TEH +6 STR & +3 PRAY IS TTLY WORTH PAYIN 20X MOAR!!!11!!1!!!", because it's not)

- Rune armour trimmed

- God dragonhide

And, surprise surprise!, they cost more than Barrow's too. According to all of your logic, these items should crash posthaste too? Should they not?

No.

The sole reason the Dragon Platebody crashed so much is because of the ease in obtaining it. The shards were quite common, and getting one upon completion of the quest made it that the offer exceeded the demand quickly.

Ergo, it crashed faster (and a lot faster) than most items do after release. It stopped becoming special to own, and the public interest dropped.

It really boils down to how much you're willing to pay. A low-level may say that he would rather go pking in addy than rune because he won't pay 6-8x more for a bit more defense, but few of the richer higher-levels would say that, aye? And Barrows doesn't protect against the GWD soldiers, but I digress.

There's a substantial difference.

Rune armour has everything better than Adamant.

Bandos, on the other hand, simply offers Strength and Prayer bonus, and much less Defence.

In the case of Verac's, Bandos only offers Strength, and lacks in everything else.

I agree, 100%.

There's nothing to save the Dragon Platebody from spiralling now, thanks to merchants and the assist system. It's far too easy to obtain the most exclusive piece of armor in the game. If you ask me, the most valuable reward from WGS was the experience.

(By the by, does anyone else think the Daily Average feature should be removed from the GEDB? It seems that whenever people see a [bleep]e in ONE DAY, they freak out and buy at max, causing the prices to rise...then if people stop buying and the daily average drops once, they flood the market. *facepalm*)
