Suicidal Tendencies

I know the name sounds 'boohoo' but their music is actually really good. Listen to the guitar and bass but don't pay attention to the lyrics. They're from the 80's though so it's not like they're emo or anything.

I've been listening to The Exploited a little lately. They're good, but I'm not a huge punk fan. I like The Clash and that's about it.

If you're open minded enough you could check out Billy Bragg - He has a punk influenced folky sort of sound.

La lune ne garde aucune rancune.

Is Fallout Boy punk?

No it's emo, that should be enough.

:wall:

(no offence ;))

Fall Out Boy is nowhere close to emo.

Hüsker Dü is all you need.

I prefer english music.

You're missing out on one of the greatest bands of the 1980s then.

If you like Yellowcard, you're more likely to like bands such as Fallout Boy than the ones posted so far.

He speaks truth. For once.

For actual "punk"

Angelic Upstarts

Fallout Boy are a travesty to music.

Try Operation Ivy, a brilliant ska punk band. It's the band Tim Armstrong from Rancid was in before Rancid.

Also The Clash and The Ramones are required if you like punk.

I don't really think there is anything purely punk that was made in the last decade or so.

Also, to me most of the good modern punk is really ska-punk, so that's what I'll reccomend:

Catch 22 (Keasbey Nights is their best album for someone who likes ska)

Streetlight Manifesto

The Flatliners

Operation Ivy

Arrogant Sons of [Female Dogs]

Rx Bandits

Less Than Jake

Now for just any kind of punk:

Bad Religion

The Descendents

Hostage Life

Black Flag

NOFX <---Best example of punk I could ever show someone

Rancid

The Offspring

Tiger Army

Also, just use Google/Wikipedia and search Rock Against Bush both Volume 1 and 2, you'll get a good list of artists.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.

The Bloodhound Gang. They helped make punk music. And they're funny.

... :wall:

Anyway... start with Minor Threat, Black Flag, Bad Brains, etc, and move forward from there.

When every man is torn apart

With nightmares and with dreams

Will no one lay the laurel wreath

When silence drowns the screams?

Oh, and since I actually prefer post-hardcore/early emo to punk, I'll recommend some other bands:

Fugazi

Embrace

Rites of Spring

Moss Icon

Promise Ring

Sunny Day Real Estate (Their album Diary in particular)

Shudder to Think

When every man is torn apart

With nightmares and with dreams

Will no one lay the laurel wreath

When silence drowns the screams?

I'm looking for a punk band, one that isn't scream music, doesn't have the whole boohoo look at me I'm evil I cut myself! facade, and isn't too hard-core (I'll decide on that ;))

Anyone wanna help? 8-)

I got two: Anti-Flag and Flogging Molly. The latter have Irish folk influences, which work surprisingly well with the punky-ness.

Edit: I see Anti-Flag have already been mentioned.

"Metal isn't about violence or faggy whiny lyrics. It isn't even about who plays the heaviest and fastest. It is about invoking a sense of wonder and magnitude that no other genre can depict."
