Wiki Story

Hey everyone. I don't post here often, but had an idea of a collaborative story, which is actually a part of a bigger idea. Depending on the success of this attempt, I'd like to attempt making a wikipedia style open database of stories, poems, songs, etc. My goal is to use the power of creative teams to shape literature into the best possible work. Granted this is different because literature is subjective, but I would like to see how the power of a majority influences the direction of a work. Everyone who posts here generally are great writers, so I would expect whatever we end up making to do well.

There are no conditions to this. The way it works is one person starts writing, and from there on, changes are either accepted, editted, or removed by the next poster. Eventually through this process, theoretically everyone will contribute their own strengths into a great piece of work. I'd like to see how the different writing styles all mix, and eventually hopefully assimilate into one.

This will take a considerable effort from the community, because we will be starting from scratch without any direction. You are allowed to post side comments to state where you like the direction to go, but other than that, everything is open for anyone. All you do is copy the post above yours and add things and change things as you see fit. If you dislike a change someone else made, you can revert back to an older post. Anything goes with this. The only driving force is the desire to create a good piece of literary work, whatever length it may be.

If anything else needs clarifying, let me know. I don't want to influence the direction of this, so I'll let the next poster begin with the story/poem/whatever. Please be active with this, as I'd like to see the potential of what a team can come up with. This isn't just an 'add your sentence to the story' type of thing. This is a collaboration. Hope we come up with something good. :)

T'was 10 minutes after christmas

In a town that just had christmas

Somewhere in Sainte-Julie

Where Jesus had his Nth Jubilee

Everyone was gleeful,

Everyone ate to be full.

Except one little grinch,

Who liked to give babies a pinch.

He didn't like giving,

Nor did he like taking.

Bah,humbug,he said as he went ,round

He was stealthy, and moved without sound.

Sometimes he'd peek in windows

Past all the layers of snow

And he'd see a family

Snuggled up all comfortably

And he'd think in jealousy,

"Why is this not me?"

Until one family spotted him.

Guess what they did for him?

Finish him!

If you look at me and feel offended by my 666-ism,think.I could be just as offended by your "cross".

The Eleventh Commandment:Thou Shalst only say "Amen, brother".

Amen, brother

Amen, brudda (referring to the 10th commandment)

amen Bruder! (german ftw)

I'm invulnerable to everything, except Lenin and Dragoonson.

That's impossible.

I love people.[/hide]

I was thinking about collaborative work as well...(See coffee shoppe...)

I think there should be a thread specifically for a collaborative story...Everyone works together to create a fantasy world, screw it up, work everything out...It could be pretty big since I have not noticed much collaborative works...the closest thing I have seen on varrock Library in my time on it was me and Archimage working on Snake and Noob, Sephy and Xewleer when they reviewed stuff...and thats all I remember...

I think it would be fun to start a thread specifically with this in mind.

In a land not unlike ours, where human, elf, dwarf, and dragon lived apart, at least adknowledging each others presence, an elf was born...
