Fascism - Yea or Nay?

The Dark Lord

Recommended Posts

Fascism is a controversial topic, especially because of Nazi Germany. I'm asking that you disconnect from the words "bad, insane, and mean" and give a thorough opinion, taking in facts and the cons and pros.

Fascism is an authoritarian or totalitarian nationalist ideology.[1] It is concerned with solving the perceived problems of national decline or decadence, by achieving a millenarian national rebirth, calling for the subordination of individual self-interest to the interests of the nation or race, and promoting cults of unity, strength and purity.[2][3][4][5][6] Fascists typically seek to form a mass movement of militants who are willing to engage in violence against their perceived enemies.[7]

Some authors reject broad usage of the term or exclude certain parties and regimes.[8] Following the defeat of the Axis powers in World War II, there have been few self-proclaimed fascist groups and individuals. In contemporary political discourse, the term fascist is often used by adherents of some ideologies as a pejorative description of their opponents.

[hide=My Opinion]I don't agree with it because it takes away freedom and rules its citizens with military might. The idea of ruling for 1000 years just sounds like some nutjob came up with it, in my opinion. It's also mean because it promotes violence against people for being of a certain race or nationality; after knowing all of the stuff that Hitler did to the Jews, gays, Russians, etc., there's no way I would be willing to sacrifice the rights of others. I'm going to have to say NO.[/hide]

Disclaimer: Since the political far-Left got its own thread, I think that the far-Right should get its own thread, too. Happy discussions!

I think fascism is a great idea. It's the best way to get a nation in line, and the only proper way to create a utopia (ie, unlike communism it can be more than a theory). It's free of the problems of the evil neo-libertarianism because it has the capacity to be fair to all through authoritarian means. It's only because of the oppression of fascism in the past that people don't realize that it could be a viable option if they let a country (say, the USA) try it nowadays. Anarchy, free-markets, anything that grants too much power to the people only renders it possible for some to advance to levels beyond others, even when they don't deserve it (like that stupid Hannah Montana and all her singing). That's unfair, and it can be solved with fascism. So why does everyone hate it?

To every type of government - nay! We should just live as tribes and smoke from peace pipes. Life would be so much less hectic.

Tribes have some form of government. Infact you could see countries as extremely large tribes.

i am only posting because Serephurus is awesome ..haha

Communism is the only government that should be in use.

do not look at China , or old Nazi Germany as a reference to Communism... read up on what a True Communist government is about.

Chinese Communism is corrupt beyond belief. even old soviet union was corrupt.

but if you look up what a Pure Communist Nation CAN be , you will see more Pro's than Con's.

Fascism and Socialism are awesome too

Like state communism, it is too easy for some d-bag to get in power and just force everyone to confirm to his will.

Hey.

No, because it removes rights and democracy.

Not everyone is going to agree with this one leader, and it eliminates free speech and therefore a nice working society :|

Then again, no nice working society can really exist because people are always going to disagree with one aspect. However atleast in a non-fascist state people can voice thier disapproval :|

Nazi Germany would be a bad example of communism because (wait for it) it wasn't communist. In fact, Hitler, like all fascists, are fundamentally opposed to communism.

He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart,

and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God.
