What Tip.it channel is good for Runescript other than #runescape?

I might just be doing it wrong too... can I just type !(randomcommand), or do I need to do something different for the Tip.it IRC?

[/nubness]

I think I know what you're asking.

If your not in the Tip.It channel and in another channel, you should ask the channel admins(or whoever has the highest status in the room) if RuneScript is available in there. If you want your own private channel for using Runescript, you can go to #yourchannelhere (replace with a name of your choice) then try /invite RuneScript #yourchannelhere. From there, the runescripting is up to you.

Hopefully I answered your question?

Runescript requires 3 users in a chat before it joins.

I heard you can do it in pm. How would you do that? :oops: I know next to no IRC commands.

EDIT: */query runescript* works great for me \'

I think the site might need a bit of work and also the Tracker isn't really too good looking.

The bot itself is really amazing, but the miniclinet is WAY better than IRC. I would definitely prefer to use something like that compared to IRC. I'm also glad it has a nice guide to it, which really makes it easier to use.

For the tracker, the look of isn't too great. It would be nice if we could make our own accounts there to keep track of our RS accounts and also to see our own recorded data. The graphs could be changed to something like a Ipod touch, where you can drag them around. If the tracker was improved, it might draw some people in from Runemonkey, and I know I would definitely go there.

How're your MSN bots ran, via someone's PC or a server? If it's a server I could stick one on the server I have, it's never down, don't want crediting at all or even mentioning.

The reason you don't want crediting is because you just want more copy+pasteable code for your website. :wall: :lol:

If only I had signature room left. :oops:

you should have parnered with http://www.swiftkit.net :x

Anyway, Swiftkit is already semi-partners with Zybez (it uses their items database, among other things)

It's an official partnership, and as far as I'm aware Tip.It does not condone the use of third party software for accessing RuneScape other then standard browsers.

@Lordofrah1

Actually it was Tip.it that came to us. We don't need advertising, and this isn't why we're partnered. Currently all tip.it gets is advertising through web, with some commands giving links to Tip.it's DB's, they gain advertising through IRC. Far from parasitic.

@3_Hit_U

We don't just give out the bot for people to host. That would be silly. You should think next time before you ask such questions.

@Jenove

SwiftKit is affiliated with Zybez and always has been.

The Tracker is still in beta, we've got a lot of ideas we'd like to get off the ground :) I like your click and drag idea for info, I don't know how feasible that is or how much "strain" it could put on the server dealing out so much data at once.

As for our main site, we've already started planning a new design for it. So keep your eyes out for that.

@Georgelemmons

As long as there are three people in the chat, you can just /invite RuneScript #channel; and you should be set to go :) If all else fails, just ask in #runescape and I'm sure someone will help. As a last resort look for me (Matt|Matthew|Shwaffle) and I'll see what I can do.

For now he's right, as far as I can tell Tip.It is giving RuneScript free advertising and we're getting back diddly squat. If there was some new Tip.It feature that ran off RuneScript that would be well and good, but I'm seeing this as a one way partnership, a kind of parasitic relationship.

You can call it parasitic all you like, but Tip.It has had the benefit of having RuneScript in their chat far longer than most places. Tip.It is also getting advertising in many of the IRC rooms that would otherwise just ignore the place and go elsewhere. "Hey look, we <3 RuneScript and they use Tip.It, we should try them out!". Just because there isn't any amazingly noticeable benefit the day of release doesn't mean it's suddenly "parasitic". Many of the RuneScript staff have worked with Tip.It staff behind the scenes in various forms for years whether you see it or not and that isn't going to change (hell, I run the Tip.It IRC server and have worked on RuneScript since day one, who'd have thought). Thanks for the laugh I got when I read that though.

Just because you don't see a tangible benefit via a simple news post doesn't mean there hasn't been or won't be.

I'll definitely keep an eye out. It is a very well planned site and I'd love to see what happens :)
