MageUK
Tip.it is proud to announce our official partnership with the RuneScript project! RuneScript is a free service that allows users to view information about RuneScape on IRC, MSN, AIM, and Y!IM, with no additional software or downloads required. It's as simple as adding another buddy to your contact list. The project is an automated chat client (or "bot") that analyses RuneScape highscores and uses extensive databases to give RuneScape players helpful information without the need to load webpages. For example, you can send a request ("command") to RuneScript on MSN that will show you the combat level of the RuneScape player you specify. RuneScript has over 100 commands and features that people can use to do everything from tracking experience gains on RuneScape, to telling you what the weather is like in your home town, to quickly giving you the answer to your latest RuneScape Treasure Trail clue. This is a very exciting opportunity for both Tip.It and RuneScript to benefit the RuneScape community by offering a fast and easy way for users to view data that Tip.It makes available. Our regular IRC users will already recognize RuneScript from our chat room, and if you have yet to try it, we suggest that you take some time to take a look at the service RuneScript offers. The RuneScript project has already collaborated with Tip.It in the past, in the form of a joint-hosted event with TET, as well being the exclusive RuneScape bot in our chatroom for a very long time. This next step in our partnership opens up many more possibilities as we work exclusively with RuneScript to open our data in more efficient and user-friendly ways. So, if you think you'd be interested in seeing how much an item costs on the GE, seeing what clan a player is associated with, or seeing how many more yew logs you need to fletch before you level up, head on over to http://www.rscript.org and take a look for yourself! A permanent link to our new partner can be found under the TOOLS category on the menu to the left. Please feel free to discuss your thoughts about this new step forward for us in this topic!
spling
I'm ecstatic! I'm really excited at the opportunity to be working so closely with what I have always regarded as the best RuneScape help site in the world. If it wasn't for Tip.It, I would have never started RuneScript in the first place. I hope everyone enjoys our service, and I look forward to bringing more improvements to our existing features in the near future. :) Thanks to Silverion for letting this all go through, and a big thanks to you Peter for all the work you've put into this partnership, and for representing us in discussions of this partnership with the other members of Tip.It staff. I hope that if you find our service useful you will feel welcome to suggest new features or changes that you'd like to see. We're always trying to improve! :D Check out RuneScript and RuneTracker! pulli23
Are you finally going to make runescript independant from the IE browser? It's a real pain for those who have partially uninstalled/disabled it. First they came to fishingand I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing Then they came to the yewsand I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews Then they came for the oresand I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak out for me. Last time I checked runescript uses the trident (IE) engine as underlying engine to parse the information.. I would really like it if it goes to gecko, or basically any other that doesn't support activeX. @Dan3HitU
So really, all you're doing is letting us advertise RuneScript, there's no special features or anything different from either parties; Tip or Script. spling
So really, all you're doing is letting us advertise RuneScript, there's no special features or anything different from either parties; Tip or Script. Actually there have already been new features and improvements to RuneScript as a direct result of this partnership. Our !item command now supports item comparisons with the syntax of !item item1, item2 (Ie. !item whip, dragon axe). We've also rewritten our !npc script to make it much more user friendly- grouping NPCs with the same name but different level into one, as well as making individual results for !npc and !item display more info in a layout that's much easier to read and understand than the old one. So.. there definitely are some real benifits. This is just what's happened in the first little while. There's much more opportunity for us to collaborate on stuff. I point you to our hiscores tracker if you think we don't have anything to offer Tip.It. ;) Check out RuneScript and RuneTracker!

The !item 1 and 2 thing has already been made by several scripts, thus nothing new here. Everything is/was already available with Script or another brand of Script, nothing to link Script and Tip together at all, I was hoping for some totally outrageous updates. n_odie
Instead of criticizing it you always contribute with constructive ideas and suggestions. The decision was not taken lightly, so sit back and enjoy the ride. No need to rock the boat already in motion. RIP MichaelangelopolousThanks to cowboy14 for the pimp sig! spling
I kinda feel like I'm being trolled here.. :P I'm not going to argue about the obvious benefits of this partnership. I don't want to see this topic derail so early. ;) I gauge that your opinion is that this affiliation is useless, so I'll let you have your opinion without arguing. :) Check out RuneScript and RuneTracker! stormveritas
Looking forward to this! I'd love to see traceability of progress worked into existing TipIt tools. The tools on the main site are terrific, but adding in the ability to see not only where you're going, but where you've been... That would be fantastic. The Observer
News of this partnership is good news to hear especially when RuneScript is when of the more widely used tools in RuneScape-related IRC. The amount of work that can be done to help Tip.it is plentiful.
handman003
Woo hoo! I've been wondering when this would happen. I don't play rs any more, but I can definitely see improvements along the way, for Tip.it and for RScript. =D> =D> And with this, I hope to become more active on the forums soon. I've been away for some time now. Resident Tip.it Cow. :^_^:[blog] [twitter]

Ratomisio
How about xml/txt feeds available to other bots? Reason: Bots have to parse your HTML pages for information (unless they use rscript feeds which now have "direct" access to your database). Personally, I won't use rscript feeds, though, because that is a round-trip between 2 servers. Background: I myself am a bot coder, currently used by two skiller clans which some might know by BigSister. I never used code by anyone else and all the parsers are 100% made by me. (The bot is also currently feeding the RScript tracker database using their SOAP webservice from a past agreement we made.) I've used tip.it for monster and items in the past, but I've changed my parsers to use another fan site and all the data that doesn't come from the own bot database is explicity stated in the output (it has always been like that). I'm planning to move my parsers back to tip.it for obvious reasons, though. Kind regards, _aLfa_ One thing only I know, and that is that I know nothing. Badgers
Awesome. I use Runescript on mostof the servers it's available on and it must be one of the most complex Scripts I've ever seen. Just a question, how long does it normally take you(RuneScript Staff) to script a new feature using more advanced aspects of mIRC/others scripting.
