Then he tries to plea INSANITY! Get the **** out of here! I hope he gets locked the hell up for life. Sorry to break it to you but kids don't just kill their mother over video games. It's deeper than that. In nearly all cases there is always a history of mental illness/drugs or child abuse. The video game was only a trigger or a "snap" and is being blamed for the murder purely for the media hype. This was a planned murder, it wasn't over a video game. That being said, it was definitely a barbaric act. Lenticular_J
He's 17. THE. MOTHER. [bleep]ER. IS. CRAZY. EDIT: Oh, yeah. And he's seventeen. Taking away a videogame from a clearly bipolar (at least) kid that knows where his dad keeps a gun (and how to use it) isn't the smartest idea in the world. Jesus, it even says he's obsessed with the game. If he really was, that's a sign that he's a bit cuckoo. Start paying attention to your kids folks. And don't teach them how to use your guns if they know where you keep them >:l catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream
XxTearGodxX
Been looking at a few other news articles related to this and it seems the judge believes the kid must have been nuts and let him off on the insanity plea. A mental disorder takes away the part of your thoughts that makes rational and functional decisions. Surely you knew that... IGoddessI
It's the only mental disorder I actually know the slightest bit about. :s It's not unheard of that people with bipolar disorder have "snapped" but it's usually, once again for deeper reasons than just the clouded judgment. Most of these things stem from a horrible past of emotional/physical/sexual abuse. For example read this article: [hide=] Matricide by person with bipolar disorder and dependent overcompliant personality Abstract Matricide is an infrequent form of homicide. This paper is to present a case of matricide with typical characteristics of the act but interesting particularities as well. The perpetrator was a 43-year-old man, respected member of his community, with over compliant characteristics, eagerness in serving people and caring his parents, good social adaptation before and after the crime. He abandoned his family and work in order to better serve his old, disabled but over demanding mother who frequently insulted and humiliated him. Suddenly he came to a state of mental confusion and strangled her. After the crime, the perpetrator manifested the symptoms of a bipolar disorder and also received the diagnosis of dependant personality disorder. Years later, he presented again a crisis of escalating aggressive urge for which he was hospitalized. Many people and associations of his hometown actively demanded the minimal possible punishment for him. The case is discussed especially concerning: a) hypotheses about the aetiopathogeny of the act, B) the constant support provided to the perpetrator by his family and social environment. http://www.astm.org/JOURNALS/FORENSIC/P ... 004336.htm[/hide] This being said, doesn't make him not have bipolar disorder. I just don't think it's right to put labels on people's heads by guessing symptoms. There is a lot more you need to know to diagnose or to fit characteristics in to a box than you can read about in a text book. The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.
