Autechre, of course. You can't go wrong with tri repetae. The ambient work by Brian Eno is a must as well. I think the Buddha Bar series is something you can appreciate as well.

do you prefer earlier autechre or later?

I think I prefer their earlier work, with Tri as my favorite album. But their later, more abstract, stuff is great too.

year i prefer earlier work too, i especially like incunabula, probably my favourite. their later stuff is sort of weak, but better than most imo.

Cannibal Corpse is great ambient music, if you haven't heard of them already.

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm getting tired of someone posting the exact opposite of what the guy asked for. :wall:

Its not funny any more.

First time I saw it .. Thought it was great .. 3rd time I got bored.

I mean its not even well done.

But yeah ... Im finding porcupine tree relaxing.

I just dl'd I Sit and Listen While My Mind Is Wandering four hours, ten minutes and thirty-eight seconds of computer-generated unvarying tones. It seems like good music to meditate to or something.

Enya has some pretty decent ambient songs, Watermark and Lothlorien being my two favorite (of her songs that don't have vocals).

If you are a fan of the violin/fiddle then I suggest Mairead Nesbitt, she's amazing.

Lastly, Gravity of Love by Enigma is a song that seems to go with rain/storms at night perfectly. Anytime it's dark out and it starts raining I'll just play that song regardless of what I'm doing.

May the presents of our lord and savior, Santa, be with you this holiday season!

whiteguy if you liked the ananta's song, i invite you to listen to their album Four Way of Redemption, the album consist in four tracks with a length of one hour each, the album is more like dark ambient tough but still it's very relaxing.I have great feeling while I'm listening to it and based in the fact that you liked the four hours long song, I'm completely sure you'd like it.

You can listen to the entire album in archive.org like the previous song, hope you like it. :P

Godspeed you! Black Emperor is by far the best instrumental band I've ever heard. I like the track Moya" the best, but they're all fantastic.

Explosions in the Sky is also very good. Their music is much quicker than GYBE, and features more drums/electric guitars, so it's hard to compare the two.

Relaxing, yet energetic music for the background? Try E.S. Posthumus. It's not exactly ambient but it's the first thing I thought of when I read your post.

Poet And The Pendulum - Nightwish. Instrumental version.

It's quite relaxing, but also EPIC!

The rest of the album's instrumental version is good too.

(And Ghost Love Score from their album Once, too.)
