I'm going to be brutally honest here, and say, that is pretty crap.

The background is a complete mess, with no flow, depth, or anything, just a bunch of scribbles. The news paper hasn't been blended in at all, and looks like it is floating.

Honestly, I know I sound harsh, but its the best way to put it.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

*smacks with newspaper*

Why are you using clipart ? D:

I was thinking it was from clipart haha.

Also, saying its your first signature is not a validated excuse. I think you should follow some other tutorials, I'm sure one of the users will post some links here or you can google it. I'm not a gimp user myself but you can produce something from that program that looks photoshopesque.

Try gimptalk.org , deviantart tutorials and so on.

Basically, just enter "gimp tutorial" on google and you will get some tutorials.

So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends.

RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.

Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.

Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.

I strike out every other week.

Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.

Randox pretty much stays rational.

Etc, etc

With all the newspaper stuff lately i have followed some tutorials and this came out of it

(feel free to use it)

Wow... my little convention has grown into a full blown fad! *is totally surprised*

As for advice...

A) Bright colors burn eyes

B) Try to establish at least some "flow" in your siggies. By this I mean pick a direction for eyes to follow and direct all action(scribbles, effects, C4Ds, ect.) along that invisible line.

Dude, which tutorials are you following? :\ Because you should stop following them haha.

Err, just checked gimptalk. The tutorials on there are pukeworthy. (or that may just be my personal preference coming in there)

DeviantART have got loads and they seem somewhat decent and they all have asians as renders. Just type in Gimp signature tutorial and choose one mate.

Also Skully_CS, you could be a bit more descriptive with your description. Flow, you know, flow... (Hypocrite) How the signature flows aesthically. Like, I dunno, you need it to look more smoother, the colours need to blend a little more, not contrast so great. And the text is eww, and the border is eww. Just take a look at other's signatures and try to pick up styles off of them (Like font, text size, border size) you'll notice that the font is not as fancy as yours and there are almost no borders.

Let's just wait for an experiance signature maker to come along instead. I suck at this.

i tried to :|

can anybody tell me a bit more on how?

Sigh... flow really isn't as hard of a concept as you think it is.

2b7bky.png

Here is a sig that uses flow effectively.(that I scribbled on, of course). It's a collab siggy by Julius and littleboy that won the last sig of the month competition. The pink lines indicate the "line of action" of the image, creating movement. Your eyes follow the areas indicated by the pink lines, making it a much more interesting and artistically sound piece to look at.

To create flow, most beginners use brushing. You can find good brushes for gimp on places like DeviantArt and such.

However, then you have your Samus sig...

Well I can't get my example pic to work for some reason. But imagine a white line running straight through Samus. Instead of being fluid, it is stiff, straight and just plain boring. Furthermore, you overuse the stained glass(I think?) filter...
