The future of Bounty Hunter: more info revealed.

Hi

 

 

 

A few weeks ago we removed the Bounty Hunter game from the Wilderness, but promised it would be coming back soon. I just wanted to quickly post to say that were working hard on the new, improved Bounty Hunter, and to tell you a little about it.

 

 

 

As many of you know, the Bounty Hunter minigame was really a temporary solution to the removal of PvP back in 2008. We really rushed the launch because of all the other projects we were working on at that time, and we therefore made a few design decisions that were not the best choices we have ever made. When we found a permanent solution with PvP worlds, we were determined to re-examine Bounty Hunter and make it the kind of game that we knew it could be. Were really pleased that some of you like it as much as you do, and were keen to get it back to you as soon as we can.

 

 

 

So, heres a little about one of the changes weve made so far. Some of you have complained that the crater sizes are too small, and that the level grouping of players is unfair. The new Bounty Hunter minigame will take place across the entire Wilderness, using the existing Wilderness level bands to restrict how and where fighting takes place. This means that youll have lots more room and, if you stick to the lower areas of the Wilderness, youll know that your opponents will always be within a few combat levels of your own. If you think you can handle more risk, you will be able to encounter higher-level combatants simply by walking north. We will also be allowing players to set up in Edgeville, but only Edgeville and the Wilderness will be accessible from these Bounty Hunter PvP servers.

 

 

 

Obviously, with such a large area were rethinking how and when new bounty targets will be assigned; more information on that in the future.

 

 

 

We still cant talk to you about launch dates because we simply dont know how long it will take to get it right and were not going to rush it out again. But we are working on it as we speak, and we will launch it as soon as its ready.

It seems that the new BH will be much more like the old Wilderness, including the old system of levels of danger. I wonder what they are going to do with tragetting and preventing RWT.

Just another reason why the RSOF needs to be taken out back and shot with a gun that fires molten hot sporks.

Bounty hunter PvP servers? So... does this mean they're removing the standard kill-and-loot aspect of the game? They didn't say specifically, but it sure sounds like it.

 

 

 

Most likely.

 

 

 

Logically it makes sense. Instead of having two classes of PVP servers they'd have one class of pvp and one subclass of PvP BH. And voila, no RWT issues. Because I certainly haven't heard of anyone RWT'ing with PVP. Drop fixing, maybe. But not RWT.

Edit: To be fair though, this does sound like it will actually be like the old wilderness. Not like in PvP worlds where it's 19ish levels plus the wild level. Still, some unique rewards would be nice.

I'm just hoping they don't change it too much. Not because I'm a pk'er, but because I don't want to see a helluva lot of whining noob pures. :thumbdown:

I am very skeptical of this. I do not believe that they are letting on all of the detaills. I STRONGLY doubt that the old wildy with the full drops will be back.

 

 

 

 

 

Probably should not call it "bounty hunter"

 

 

 

"Mithril Dagger P++ if you kill a zerker pure with a fire cape" would be a much more appropriate name.

I wouldn't be surprised if you get their eqt an inventory as drops ONLY when you kill your target

This will only be on PVP BH servers.

uhh....why would it be harder? they are going to have their own server where u can only go edge and wildy....just like pvp worlds....

Why? it says they will have their own dedicated world where Edge and wild is only accessible so it wont affect normal worlds.

 

 

 

Sounds fairer but i hope the loot system is an improvement on pvp.

If that's the case, then it would be a good thing. Your there to kill someone afterall, so why does it matter who you kill?

 

 

 

But I'm thinking more along the lines of:

 

- You can only receive full drops from your target

 

- You receive randomly generated based on the alch value of items lost by your opponent who is not your target.

 

 

 

I could see them implementing something like that.

even better than i hoped for, if loot is same - i always wanted a place where i can fight people 2-3 levels above/lower than me. My only concern is the exits - how wil you exit from level 30+ wildy?

 

 

 

To make this perfect, imo, jagex needs to: Put in 10-20 various exits, and 2 entrances - 1 in level 1 wild, 1 in level 25 wild. Then just remove teleports from the area, make it so you cant use special attack on your first hit on a person, and i be a happy guy.
