such a broad topic, but if you have the patience for a read about how pessimistic i am for our society, then do go on. i'm kinda pissed off right now at how the world is going right now so i made a little rant.

 

 

 

oh how the times have shaped us. we are in economic turmoil and we demand our government give us a solution while asking for a free market.

 

we have an obesity epidemic that has taken the world by storm. it's now been called a disease and people are convinced that there is something wrong with them if they are overweight. sorry, but if you only work and watch tv, your bound to influence your body to produce some fat.

 

religion. oh how it has shaped our world so drastically! there's always a conflict in the middle east, and quite honestly the stuff that goes on there.... it scares me to a cold sweat. people would casually talk about a hotel being blown up when if that happened here, we'd make it a national remembrance day. are the lives that are in a different country less significant than ours? well from what i've seen from my peers, i assume so. but you all know what happens when you assume ;)

 

more irony about religion is that people will never go to church, make jokes about other religions and say that George carlins skit on religion was the funniest thing they ever heard. well i shall tell you something, if you don't preach of a god, don't believe in a god, then you probably don't believe in a god. same concept of- if it smells like a duck, sounds like a duck, looks like a duck, it's safe to say that it is a duck.

 

human rights. who am i to say that the world is perfect? it's perfectly imperfect, i'll tell you that. china has the right to go into your house without a warrant, they can arrest you without trial and by the way you can't speak out against it. and to think that they're in the united nations and hosted the Olympics. just pure cluster(enter your f bomb here)

rachel scott. columbine. 13 people dead and apparently only one of them is truly important. so she wrote a diary about how she was going to die, how she was going to impact the world, how the hands that she drew on the wall inback of her dresser will touch the lives of millions. i find it funny that if you knew that you were going to die, and that you were going to impact lots of people.... why didn't you know that 13 people were going to die as a result of 2 kids being "bullied" at school? i guess that's a little too supernatural. well i guess if people are going to capitalize off of your death, i might as well rant on it. lets get something straight- yeah it sucks that you died it truly does. but it also sucks that 12 other people died. you are no more important than those other 12 people and they are unsung victims. any one in high school knows who rachel scott is but no one knows the other people that died because they decided to go to school. i hate your father.

I disagree. I have people in my family that used to/use illegal drugs and their lives are just screwed up. I've met most of them and they are ignorant, poor, etc. Smoking and alcohol are nothing compared to what happens when people use illegal drugs (its their fault, but still.)

It's about relativity. Hotels very rarely blow up in the West, so people make a big deal when one does. In Iraq and the Middle East, however, stuff like that happens all the time, so it's very hard to get upset about it.

I don't see why we should exclude from the UN purely for being authoritarian. It's a far more effective way of getting things done--but people are always going to abuse their power. I agree about people being able to speak out though; any well-meaning government has nothing to hide and can produce a valid argument against any possible complaint.

I don't see what's stopping them from going in there and making North Korea disarm. It's probable that they won't actualy disarm their bases--otherwise they'd have no cards to play--and the danger will only increase the longer the UN refrains from taking action.

Going to explode? A slight overstatement, but I agree. We consume far to much energy, and it's all down to overpopulation: the Earth cannot sustain 7 Billion people for an indefinate length of time.

People are always going to be poor. If we let people fend for themselves more, then natural selection (for memes in the short-term) will make society's capability advance, and so we will be able to acomplish more.

People just in general I feel, need to get their heads out of their [wagon] and realize there is also 6 billion other people living on the planet. They argue and kill over stupid non realistic ideas, such as religion. i didn't read the majority of posts made by people for the fact that i requested that they do something to show that they actually read the who rant. some of the responces i read were fairly constructive.

 

 

 

basically with the mexico-divorce comparison is basically a shoutout against the drug cartels that are in mexico because america demands illegal drugs. i guess my mindset was different from yours ( as in the person reading this) so i guess the joke is only funny to me. i could re-word it but that's for a later time.

 

 

 

some one said something about me not doing any research. please realize that i did this because i had to get it off of my chest. i typed that all up in about 30-40 minutes. when i was done it was 3 in the morning. all i'm really doing by saying all the things i did is throwing my opinions on the topic, and some specifics that i thought were crucial to the argument.

 

 

 

drugs- ok i guess i was a little not clear about the drugs thing. illegal drugs are bad. that's why they are illegal. end of story. if marijuana gets legalized then that's fine with me because it doesn't effect me in the least. some one said that you can't overdose as much on lsd or something. well if it's possible to overdose on a drug then why make it legal at all? also if there's a risk of dependency then, once again, it should be illegal which it is.

Why are you for allowing people to have potentially dangerous ideas but against people using potentially dangerous substances? Legality is really no issue here. The fact that alcohol is legal is a tired example, but it's a damning one.
