MerchScamming Clans

AntiMerchant

Recommended Posts

I call them MerchScamming clans, because that is exactly what they do. In order for the clan leaders to make a profit, someone else has to make a negative profit. Grrrr. It annoys me. That's why i'm making a clan to try to destroy them all. muahaha. :P

I seem so immature from that post. :D

Wow, i just about to make a rant about how everyone thinks all merch clans scam. I've had about 3 random people come into my clans cc going on about how we scam and the generals dump early blablabla there's even this one extremely desperate guy who has made his own clan does merches our items and dumps them early. I'm glad someone managed to kill him while he was skulled with a fire cape, fury ammy, d claws, ags and bandos armour mwuhahaha its kind of sad i guess but still

You can thank the failed Grand Exchange for promoting junk trading, and encouraging price manipulation, and forming the base for all merch scams.

Yeah, because it's not like clans ever manipulated prices before the Grand Exchange.

I love to meet people; send me a pm if you see me on RuneScape! :)

Not to the extent and with the ease that they do using the GE.

Personally I don't care if clans are gonna go around manipulating prices, since I have no troubles making my own money, but as far as I'm concerned Jagex should care - and they can show they care by fixing the GE.

May the presents of our lord and savior, Santa, be with you this holiday season!

"Selling polished buttons, rare member item, 1m ea!!"

Or,

You can just check to see if something has dropped or went really high lately. You can pretty easily tell. It's not hard.

I like the GE.

Anyone who does not like the GE just sook because their crappy methods of making money have been ruined, and you have to work hard for it now. Oh no.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

So don't join them? They're not exactly healthy for the economy, and it's not required to join them. Until Jagex looks at the GE system again, just steer clear and use the GE as it is intended.

Thank you for all of the relevant and excellent points you made. Astounding counter. The thank god for the ignore list.

If pro-gers are insisting that a clan of 15 could go around the entire game and buy out all Antifire pots for sale, all regeneration bracelets for sale, all lantadyme herbs and seeds for sale, all blue dragon scales for sale, and all Blue dragon Scale Dust for sale, in all of the various trade areas of the game in less than an hour, you are either lying, trying to delude yourself into thinking this is a good system, or didn't play the game back then.

This is an example I saw in the game yesterday.

Well, for one, Omali knows what Omali's talking about.

For two, you're like the biggest nerdiest runescape troll I have ever seen.

And, for the Pro G.E'ers, clans of 5 people, if they have 50M each, can go around and manipulate the GE easily. It's not hard with a bit of money. But it wasnt hard for people to just trick people into buyin something worth 100gp for 1M gp. Nor was it hard to lure people into the wilderness like you probably did to get YOUR income.

Omali: When someone disagrees with you, that isn't Trolling. You need to re-read the rules.

Number two, we are posting on a message board dedicated to Runescape. That is about as nerdy as it gets, and your post count is higher than mine.

Now, to the relevant message:

Scamming one person did not raise the generally accepted market price of any given item. There is no way that 15 people could corner the market like that back then on such widely used items. If you did a reasonable amount of checking before you bought an item, you would not be scammed.

With the G.E, a relatively small number of people can control the prices of dozens of items, and force everyone to pay unreasonable prices.

According to most TIF'ers just simply disagreeing is trolling, which is why people call me a troll. You, however, just think the G.E is stupid, and only post negative comments about people in rants.

Sounds like the pre-ge market.

Maybe in your imagination, but the only thing that clans could control were phats and other rares.

But if you disagree, then please provide me with a detailed account of a Pre-Ge clan buying every single limpwurt Root for sale in the entrie game. Do the same for anti-fire pots, blue dragon scales, all high value herb seeds, and in general, anything over 10k.

At the end of the day, pre-ge the only way you could get ripped off is if you didn't spend 10 seconds doing research, or you weren't paying attention. Now you are essentially required to participate in daily scams.

I don't like having to agree with a pker, but TheDayRsDied does have a point here.. Price manipulation on this scale would have never been able before the Exchange, let's face that.

I think the problem is that the GE is too efficient. It's possible to control the trading across every world from a single spot, when before you could only control the trading within your minimap area in your world.

Wait. That's it. We need more than one GE.

Well said. I was trying to think of a way to articulate it, but that hits the nail on the head.
