::' Hai thar. I have a large portion of graphics experience myself, so here is my opinion on your artwork :D

#1.: That's a nice c4d. I'm not sure if you alerted it in any way, besides putting it on the canvas. 8/10

#2.: Watch your canvas size, a siggy should be around 400 x 150 or smaller ;D Your render (Which is REALLY low quality, might I add.) doesn't really match the background, and your font is rather plain 7/10

#3.: Make sure you re size render so you don't have a enormous canvas. Font color doesn't really match. Your background is unique, though. 7/10

Overall: 7.5/10 I'm not sure what imaging program you're using, but you do have potential. If you need different font's, try Dafont.con For a beginner, I've seen a lot worse, so keep it up. Remember, blending the render, text, and background, are all key. You can look up Photoshop tutorials on Deviantart.com. Even if you're not using Photoshop, these can contain some pretty useful tips and information. Good luck, and remember, if you're not having fun while doing graphics, they're not really worth doing :D

Take Care,

You say you have a large portion of Graphics Experience? For one, the thing in the first sig is not a c4d, but a fractal. You gave him insanely high 'ratings' which, to me, personally don't help someone.

Wrong forum, as well.

First things first, do not use text. Please  please please.

And I cant tell if you did anything else beside stick the render/whatever it is on the background.

God no, that deserves like a 0/10

Sorry is I was a little bit harsh. #-o

Your background is unique, though.

You can easily make that background by filling red then tiling(or whatever it's called) on Paint.Net. -.-

Way to scare both the Topic Author an Dallas alike from the Gallery, guys. LowFatMilk said he was new to the graphics universe, and he posted some of his art. The least we can do is guide him the right way, and I'm talking about CC, tips and tutorials, not flaming. Seriously, get outta your new-guys-suck and if-anyone-can-make-it-it's-not-art bubbles and start being a bit more polite when replying, or all you'll be doing would be getting the new artist to stop making art.

On the pieces:

-I'd suggest looking for some Text that matches the signature/theme. As Dallas suggested, Dafont.com is good.

-The 2nd one needs some smudgier edges, the choppiness ruins it. I suggest you use the Smudge Tool to try to make the Render merge with the Background, and not just look like it was pasted on it.

-Try finding C4D's that match with your render, or vice-versa. Alternatively, you can Smudge a nice BG, then add the render and smudge again.

-Look for Tutorials on the Net, they help you a lot; telling us which Graphics Program you're using helps us help you a lot more. ;)

Just keep practicing, and don't give up. Don't mind if people flame you, remember you're doing this because you like doing it.

I'd really recommend you try out a tutorial before you start mucking around, they can help a lot. Although what program you have really depends on what tutorial I should find, so it would be nice if you could tell us :P

Yeah I'm sorry, the text fails majorly.

Keep at it though, and try make it look like it's meant to be there. (: Gl.

No. The last thing we need is people like Dallas claiming they have the knowledge required to help someone in this area and then doing the complete opposite. His work is awful, and that's the truth. If we have to be nasty, so be it.

+1

The main thing I try to do with text is to make it 'blend' in. I use clipping masks mainly with my text and try to use a font that matches the style of the signature. That way the colours match the colour scheme of the signature and it just fits better. Most of the time I try to refrain from adding text to the signature, however. I don't need to go into anything else, though as its been covered. Good luck.

My only advice is try to make it more of your own work :x And save it as .PNG, not .JPEG, as that rapes tags.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

Dallas didn't help him much artistically, but psychologically. We can't just go "that's horrible" like nothing, specially on the newer artists. We don't know how they take criticism. I understand that you have to be able to take it to post here, but god, he has like 15 posts, he most probably didn't even know how people are here.

Resuming: No need to be an [wagon]-hole when posting, specially with the new guys. No need either to flame Dallas, as Ouchy well said and you well quoted him, Art is an opinion, he may have liked the TA's work.

Any Ouchy, some of my tags are .JPEG, it doesn't affect the quality if you save them as high quality (For Photoshop users, not sure about GIMP)

Yeah, but for newbies, its easier to say save .png than go through a complicated process to get high quality .jpg.

Onto the work -

Really need to know what program you are using before any advice can be made other than the advice already posted.

He's using Paint.Net. That tile thingy sticks out for a mile telling you it is.

I could keep debating back and forth but it is my opinion, is it not? I'm pretty harsh with my Criticism, but most of the time it's constructive. I gave him tips with the text :D

Art may very well be subjective (and it is to an extent) but it still has to follow certain rules. And, sure, you can break those rules but you need to know them and need to have a good reason to break them. :)

I for one am tired of people taking a factual or a 3D render and a picture from a game and pasting them into something and calling it "art". It's offensive really. I'm talking about a lot of the gallery in general though, not necessarily just the OP.

People don't come here to get pampered, as The Gallery we put things bluntly. I have never seen you in The Gallery before so please, let The Gallery be The Gallery and don't try change it.

I have probably been here longer than you. I don't post very often now, but if you go back some pages, you'll find plenty of my posts and art alike (which I'm not very proud of anyway). ;)

I agree, though it's what newbies generally do when they try "art". I used to do it myself, though I kind of grew out of it thanks to the CC and the welcome the gallery gave me. If you're new here, and when you post something you get flamed, it's probable you'll never post again and stop making "art". It's kind of our duty to be nice to the newcomers, I'm not saying we don't have to criticize their work.

Who knows, he in the future may be as good as some people here. We just need to give him a chance. :)

Just dont use text.

That's helpful :|

Installing fonts is relatively simple. First open My Computer and navigate to C:\Windows\Fonts. You do this by clicking on C, then the windows folder than the fonts folder, obviously :) Just drag and drop your font that you've downloaded into that folder and it should automatically install. I'm not sure if that's how it works with GIMP and PDN but that's how I do it on Photoshop, though I haven't downloaded or used a font that isn't default in months :) Alternitvely here's a guide from the Microsoft website that I've edited a bit:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.

2. Type the following command, and then click OK:

%windir%\fonts

3. Drag and drop your font into that folder

Hope that helped :)

Well, I don't know much about paint.net, but I know my way around GIMP. Here are a few good tutorials:

http://blakemoso.deviantart.com/art/Gim ... t-82079345

That one teaches you how to make a decent sig with a stock.

The basics of what you should and shouldn't put in a sig. Read it every couple of weeks as you progress ::'

A lot of people have said good things about this tutorial, but I personally found it hard to work with :?

There you go, and have fun!
