Sinkhan
I've seen a few saying that smithing mithril bolts will actually profit, but how can this be at all if bolts sell for 75 ea after being fletched and the bars themselves are 1.1k? Right now, I'm at 55 fletching doing maple longs, but I'm looking for a method that actually profits and doesn't create a huge amount of junk I can't use until I get get my hands on something worth lending/selling. Something to fill my sig with until I find a replacement. Also check out my blug
Lord Diddy
Your actually supposed to smelt the mithril ores at the blast furnace, and you may break even or a minimal profit. Not really sure if you even break even, you might have to check the prices.
Bladewing
You break even/make a small profit by smithing unfinished mithril bolts at the blast furnace. Fletching the unfinished bolts with feathers is bound to cost you lots. How to Chin Nechyraels for fast XP and profit
Sinkhan
Well I guess I'll be making a trip to the BF pretty soon. I plan on using the coal from MTK, so I think profit will be guaranteed. How do mithril and steel bolts sell right now? Flighting bolts seems to be another ok profit option. tigershelby2
i did the math yesterday and if you buy your ores at max and sell at min...you loose money Barrows: Verac- Helm, Brassard x 2,Torag- Body, HammersKaril- CrossbowGuthan- BodyAhrim- Hood, Staff
Gandorf61
This must be done at blast furnace: Mithril ore - 242gp (max) Coal x2 - 2x178 = 356 (med) Total: 598gp Mithril Bolts (unf) per bar = 10 10 x 71 = 710gp (they sell for med) 710-598= 112gp/profit per bar or 72gp/profit per bar when sold at min Even when you fletch them they still profit if brought and sold at med. Sinkhan
Ah ok cool. How do mithril bolts actually sell these days? Something to fill my sig with until I find a replacement. Also check out my blug
Gandorf61
Well when I was smithing them a lot of the times there was a person at the blast furnace buying the mith bolts to fletch so I assume they sell ok. You might want to test it with a couple hundred bolts first just to make sure though. Pyramid Plunder Guide Tip.it Forum Rules Adventurer's LogThanks to Cowboy14 for the awesome sig! phata_elise
This must be done at blast furnace: Mithril ore - 242gp (max) Coal x2 - 2x178 = 356 (med) Total: 598gp Mithril Bolts (unf) per bar = 10 10 x 71 = 710gp (they sell for med) 710-598= 112gp/profit per bar or 72gp/profit per bar when sold at min Even when you fletch them they still profit if brought and sold at med. you are forgetting the unnoting cost at the blast furnace. 81 gp for 1 mith ore and around 30 or so gp for each coal. that gives a total cost of around 730-740 gp for one mith bar. So, smithing mith bolts at the blast furnace makes you lose cash. ;)

Sinkhan
Essentially really cheap resources that require almost no effort to get. Just finish a quest or two, pop in some money, get your favour up, and then you've got a good amount of resources flowing in everyday. The swordfish and half the tuna I get from MTK more than covers the 75K a day it takes, and the extra 200ish coal and all the random gems and caskets are pretty much gravy on top : Something to fill my sig with until I find a replacement. Also check out my blug
Gandorf61
Ok I made I huge mistake (my bad with the calculations) I thought something was off with that profit but it didn't click then, so here's the fixed costs/prices: Mithril ore - 232gp (med) Coal x2 - 2x178 = 356 (med) Total: 588gp Unoting costs: Mithril-81 Coal 22.5 x2= 45 Total: 126 Total cost to make each bar: 714gp Mithril Bolts (unf) per bar = 10 10 x 71 = 710gp (they sell for med) 710-714= -4gp loss a bar At the moment they do lose you 4gp a bar which really isn't that much. A few weeks ago you would profit around 50gp/bar so it really all depends on the current market prices. Once mithril bolts (unf) rise again and mithril ore stabilizes you should be able to make some profit. Of course if you fletch them now you actually profit so take that into consideration. ;) 71gp=unf 6gp/feather 79gp mithril bolts 2gp profit/bolt 20gp profit/bar Pyramid Plunder Guide Tip.it Forum Rules Adventurer's LogThanks to Cowboy14 for the awesome sig! I guess it's best to stock those bolts (unf) up then for the time being.
