The Great Orb Project. 5. Credits 1. Introduction I wanted to make a runecrafting guide because I was really curious about all the xp/h rates and timing and all of that. I want this guide to include all timing for all possible options from getting to the altar and banking. I couldn't find a runecrafting guide with all xp/h rates and gp/h rates so I decided to make one! Each altar section will has this template: Picture of altar Picture of location on world map Level Required to Make Runes: XP per Essence Used: Multiple Rune Levels:(if applicable) 2. F2P Section In F2P it is recommended that you wear nothing except the tiara of whatever altar you are going to, your explorer's ring(3) for elemental altars, and any Fist of Guthix runecrafting gloves you might have. The gloves are very useful if you do FoG anyway because you get twice the xp per 1000 essence. All the tests will not include explorer's ring bonus or runecrafting gloves. [hide=2.1 Air Altar] Level Required to Make Runes: 1 XP per Essence Used: 5 Multiple Rune Levels: 2 per essence: 11 3 per essence: 22 4 per essence: 33 5 per essence: 44 6 per essence: 55 7 per essence: 66 8 per essence: 77 9 per essence: 88 10 per essence: 99 Level for Gloves: 10 There are 5 ways in f2p that I have heard of being used. Method #1: Walk/Run from Falador east bank to altar and back Method #2: Walk/Run to the altar from Falador and tele back to Falador Method #3: Cabbage-port by the air altar and walk/run to Fally to bank Method #4: Cabbage-port by the air altar, cabbage tele and bank in Draynor Method #5: Cabbage-port by the air altar and tele to Falador I will test all these times by walking to the altar and running to the bank after the runes have been crafted. The timing is from closing the bank screen until re-opening it after crafting. Also this is based on one run so the time would vary slightly. Method #1's Time: 01'23''92* Method #2's Time: 01'18''24 Method #3's Time: 01'33''90 Method #4's Time: 01'34''65 Method #5's Time: 01'26''30 Now because it would be more efficient to run to the altar when teleporting to Falador, I'll do another set of runs in reverse. Running to the altar, walking to bank. Method #1's Time®: 01'25''76 Method #2's Time®: 01'08''87* Method #3's Time®: 01'33''04* Method #4's Time®: 01'33''30* Method #5's Time®: 01'11''34* Now I will figure out the xp/h of each using the faster method. The methods that teleport lose one inventory slot to a law rune. This doesn't include the bonus 10xp(average) per run from the explorer's ring or air runecrafting glove bonus. XP/H Method #1: 42.89 runs per hour X 140 xp per run= 6005 xp/h Method #2: 52.27 runs per hour X 135 xp per run= 7056 xp/h Method #3: 38.69 runs per hour X 140 xp per run= 5417 xp/h Method #4: 38.59 runs per hour X 140 xp per run= 5403 xp/h Method #5: 50.46 runs per hour X 135 xp per run= 6812 xp/h (I calculated the first one by going 60/1.(23.93/60)=xp/h, if this math is flawed please tell me so I can fix it) GP/H http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=rmIe64R4OUov0mPyJohbVLQ&hl=en[/hide] [hide=2.2 Mind Altar] Level Required to Make Runes: 2 XP per Essence Used: 5.5 Multiple Rune Levels: 2 per essence: 14 3 per essence: 28 4 per essence: 42 5 per essence: 56 6 per essence: 70 7 per essence: 84 8 per essence: 98 There are 3 methods that I have heard of. The first one is slight danger but you most likely will not encounter any problems because even if you do see a revenant it most likely not be within your level range. Method #1: Walk/run from Edgeville bank through lvl 4 wildy to the mind altar and back. Method #2: Walk/run from Falador west bank and back. Method #3: Walk from Falador west bank and teleport after the runes have been crafted. The time tests will be running before the runes have been crafted, walking after. Method #1: 02'25''83 Method #2: 02'42''71 Method #3: 01'18''37 XP/H Method #1: 24.69 runs per hour X 154 xp per run= 3802 xp/h Method #2: 22.13 runs per hour X 154 xp per run= 3408 xp/h Method #3: 45.94 runs per hour X 143 xp per run= 6569 xp/h GP/H http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=rUE1MbH4lrGRdRbTzlYlyRg&hl=en[/hide] [hide=2.3 Water Altar] Level Required to Make Runes: 5 XP per Essence Used: 6 Multiple Rune Levels: 2 per essence: 19 3 per essence: 38 4 per essence: 57 5 per essence: 76 6 per essence: 95 Level for Gloves: 20 After asking a few people about water runecrafting in F2P I found that the only method people used is running back and forth from Draynor bank, but after looking at the world map I though about 2 more methods to test. Maybe I should have asked more people... Method #1: Walk/run from Draynor bank to the altar and back. Method #2: Walk/run to the altar from Draynor and cabbage-port to bank in Draynor. Method #3: Walk/run to the altar and Lumbridge tele to bank in the castle. The times are again tested running to the altar, walking back. Method #1: 02'13''64 Method #2: 01'33''04 Method #3: 01'25''23 XP/H Method #1: 26.94 runs per hour X 168 xp per run= 4526 xp/h Method #2: 38.69 runs per hour X 168 xp per run= 6500 xp/h Method #3: 42.24 runs per hour X 156 xp per run= 6590 xp/h GP/H http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=r7q2Suh-Zgl_AHfH4v57ygg&hl=en[/hide] [hide=2.4 Earth Altar] Level Required to Make Runes: 9 XP per Essence Used: 6.5 Multiple Rune Levels: 2 per essence: 26 3 per essence: 52 4 per essence: 78 Level for Gloves: 30 There are pretty much 2 methods to runecraft earths in f2p, and earth runecrafting gloves are highly recommended for tons of xp. Method #1: Walk/run to the earth altar from varrok east bank and back. Method #2: Walk/run to the earth altar from varrok and tele after the earths are crafted. Again I will find the times of each method. I will run to the altar and walk after the runes have been made. Method #1's Time: 01'34''58 Method #2's Time: 01'04''00 Now I'll figure out the xp/h without runecrafting gloves or explorer's ring bonus. XP/H Method #1: 38.06 runs per hour X 182 xp per run=6927 xp/h Method #2: 56.25 runs per hour X 169 xp per run=9506 xp/h GP/H http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=r7VNg0Z9UW7suXEJbesAEhQ[/hide] [hide=2.5 Fire Altar] Level Required to Make Runes: 14 XP per Essence Used: 7 Multiple Rune Levels: 2 per essence: 35 3 per essence: 70 Fire rune are probably the most abundant rune in the game. Many people train runecrafting with these as well as many slayers bring a bunch into the game as well. There aren't really any nearby teleports to the fire altar available to F2Pers. Method #1: Walk/run from the Duel Arena bank to the altar and back. Method #2: Walk/run from the Al-Kharid bank to the altar and back. The times are running to the altar, walking back. Method #1: 01'54''59 Method #2: 01'42''32 These results were somewhat surprising because I have seen many more people in F2P use the Duel Arena bank compared to the Al-Kharid one. XP/H Method #1: 31.42 runs per hour X 196 xp per run= 6158 xp/h Method #2: 35.18 runs per hour X 196 xp per run= 6896 xp/h GP/H http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=rQkmjdwS8JS2dw8AsSG6ljg&hl=en[/hide] [hide=2.6 Body Altar] Level Required to Make Runes: 20 XP per Essence Used: 7.5 Multiple Rune Levels: 2 per essence: 46 3 per essence: 92 Body runes give the most xp per essence in F2P, lets see if they give the most xp/h. Method #1: Walk/run from Edgeville bank to the altar and back. Method #2: Walk/run from Varrok west bank to the altar and tele to Varrok. The times are running there and walking back. Method #1: 01'42''12 Method #2: 01'22''48 XP/H Method #1: 35.25 runs per hour X 210 xp per run= 7403 xp/h Method #2: 43.65 runs per hour X 195 xp per run= 8512 xp/h GP/H http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=rcP-2XIDzn-PuDnixhr1Xww&hl=en[/hide] [hide=2.7 Tiara Making]Here is a chart that pretty much explains all about tiaras. They are expensive to make but offer a lot more xp than runes. So unless you have a lot of money to waste, don't do tiaras. Also, this doesn't include law rune prices. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=rhHbOZlAZIZ2x3W-OT3FS9A&hl=en[/hide] [hide=2.8 Summary]There are a lot of things to look for in the top method. I will find the top moneymaking methods, the top xp methods, and then rate each altar according to their usefulness. Then I will make leveling guides based on top xp/h(using top method) with losing less than a designated amount money(or as close as you can to). Top Moneymaking Level 1-44. Water Altar Level 44-99. Air Altar Top XP 1.Tiaras(do the cheapest one) 2.Earth Altar 3.Body Altar 4.Air Altar 5.Fire Altar 6.Water Altar 7.Mind Altar Rating the Altars Air Altar-This is a very good altar. It offers the most amount of money made from F2P runecrafting from level 44 and up and gives the 3rd most xp/h. Mind Altar-This altar has pretty much one use, cheap tiaras. As of the time I am writing this they have the cheapest GP/XP of all tiaras but other than that they give the least xp/h on regular runes and don't give much money back to you. Water Altar-This altar makes the most(/losses the least) money until level 44. Basically after that it is useless because air altar is better in all ways. Earth Altar-This gives the most xp/h of all F2P altars which is even better if you have earth runecrafting gloves which can get you a massive 19k xp/h. This doesn't make any money using the top method so if you are training runecrafting for money, don't use this altar. Fire Altar-This altar isn't very good either. It gives less gp and xp than the air altar and the runes aren't needed anyway so don't use it. Body Altar-This altar is pretty much like a farther away earth altar so it gives less xp and gp than the earth altar. Basic Leveling Guide(w/<10k/h) Level 1-5. Air Altar Level 5-22. Water Altar Level 22-76. Air Altar Level 76-99. Earth Altar Basic Leveling Guide(w/<25k/h) Level 1-5. Air Altar Level 5-22. Water Altar Level 22-52. Air Altar Level 52-99. Earth Altar[/hide] 3. P2P Section This section cannot be written yet but I will get onto it once I buy some more membership. 4. The Great Orb Project The Great Orb Project (GOP) has other guides written on it so I will not be writting one but instead recommending what to spend the points on. GOP has offers a decent amount of runecrafting xp while you play but that is not the reason most people play it. With the tokens you can buy: All kinds of talismans Blue/Green/Yellow Runecrafting Robes(which includes hat, gloves, robe, and skirt) Teleport Tablets to all the altars Talisman Staff Rune(F2P)/Pure(P2P) Essence The talismans should NOT be bought except for the water ones(in F2P only) because you could buy essence and sell it for more money than the talismans are worth. The runecrafting robes look really good especially in F2P so if you want to spend your tokens on these go ahead but if you really need/want more money you are better of buying essence. The talisman staff is a useless waste of tokens but if you really want to spend your money on it go ahead. The teleport tablets are the really interesting things here. They teleport you directly outside the altar of the tab used so they speed up trips a lot. It is best to combine these with a teleport as close to a bank as possible to maximize xp. The altar you buy these for are up to you but I would choose one that balances xp and gp. In P2P you would want to buy these for the top altar that you can use. 5. Credits Me- I wrote this guide so I deserve credit  Tip.it Forums- For hosting the guide otherwise it would be useless to write this guide  Jagex- For making the game thats wasted my time and time spent I made writing this guide :-# Pinkbullet3- For editing this guide before it was released (so if there are any typos blame it on Pink) ;) Brainymidget- For writing his amazing guide on Google Docs, I couldn't have made the guide and kept it up tp date with out it! Zaaps1
Awesome, but for f2p, you're forgetting the single most important element: that is alching. If you alch while you run, you spend no run energy while you are doing the alch animation. This means you can run for an extremely long time and only need to do 2-3 runs without running before having 100%. Extremely useful, and the key to success. In addition, if you alch the right stuff with the right levels, you can profit. I believe when I calculated, alching fishing bait (buy 2gp, alch 2gp, so you pay only for the nats. Tons of better options, but you can easily buy the bait in bulk) and crafting airs at 77 rc profited about 1k per run. Not a whole lot, but the main idea is the much faster rc xp. So give it a try, and add it. It greatly speeds up f2p rc, and all you really need is 3 extra invent spaces. EDIT: Or maybe the profit was more like 100gp. My memory is a bit rusty after a break. Anyway, the profit isn't the main concern anyway, the xp is. ~It's Super Effective! Caromon
I am reallyputting off working on this guide but I would like everyones input on the P2P section. There are so many variables in P2P rcing that making a spreadsheet of it all would take a long time so should I just get the times and put the formula there so you can figure out your xp/h and gp/h? Input would be highly appreciated. Also if anyone was willing to get their own times if they are currently doing runecrafting runs and them PM them to me along with the alter and the method I would be highly grateful. P.S. There are already guides on the abyss and the ZMI alter so I could just provide a link to those so I don't have to run my own tests and write it out when that work has already been done. sees_all1
When you get 50 rc, get a couple of tablets and see how quickly you can get with each... I think the fastest method (and semi-profitable) was: -Air staff -Water Tiara -Lumbridge Explorers ring -Water Runecrafting Gloves from FoG -Water Tablets from GOP -Teleport to Falador Example: Wielding the air staff, teleport to Falador. Run to the west bank. Bank, grab 26 essense Teleport to water altar, craft runes, repeat. I think that's the method water_is_nat (one of the 5? f2p only players to max) used to get 99 rc.
