Plugpoint
Don't really follow football but I hope England don't make it. Saves all the stupid tabloids thinking we're going to make the final when everyone knows we'll lose in the quarter- or semi-finals, probably on penalties AGAIN :wall: Maxed 15/06/

OldJoe
Sweden, but we lost 1-0 to Denmark yesterday. But we are against Malta on wednesday which we must win (and we should). I would rather see Rosenberg than Zlatan in the troup, he hasn't produced much in the national team. If we fail to qualify, my German percentage in me will be cheering for them. It will be intresting to see how England does. 1_man_army
Hopefully Scotland can qualify for the first time since 1998, it depends on us making it to the playoff place (since Holland pretty much have the top spot already) and hoping we get an easy team for the play off. That being said, even if we do get to the tournament, we'll probably do our usual glorious failures routine - get beaten by the rubbish teams and just about do well against the better ones and then still fail to get past the first round. England winning the world cup would make the suicide rate rocket up here, the English commentators are still insufferable about winning it over 40 years ago and show an absolute arrogance when an international comes around. I could only imagine how irritating they would be if they won another world cup. He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)
ThurinEthir
So apparently Taiwan/Chinese Taipei got knocked out in the first round of the Asia qualifier by Uzbekistan... ...By an aggregate score, over two games, of 11-0. SirHartlar
Well I hope England get through to the finals, I think we have a relatively straight forward group so I'll look forward to seeing them in action next year. I hope Capello stays on and moulds the team into a formidable side, we need trophies dammit.

RichieMcD
Ireland of course, the Republic to be precise since there's also a Northern Ireland team. Once we inevitably get knocked out, I'm just rooting for whatever team England come up against if they get further than us. I've always found Italy a great team to watch, but the amount they dive is seriously ruining the game and referees need to take a tougher stance on it, it's a serious turn off for me in terms of football. As 1MA said, then English commentators are still going on about what happened over 40 years ago, and English newspapers are just unreadable during the World cup period due to the absolute [cabbage] bias printed in them. Seriously, the Brazilians aren't even going on about what happened 7 years ago.
Giordano
Soccer  But Brazil  Ronaldhino or however you spell it. GTFO the Bandwagon, will ya? Argentina, Italy, or Spain. In that order. If Brazil wins again, I'll be pissed. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." forestfrolic
Eh, USA. We're getting better each year. Maybe a good World Cup run will get soccer (football) into the mainstream here finally. Nemo vir est qui mundum non reddat meliorem..

Rien
Eh, USA. We're getting better each year. Maybe a good World Cup run will get soccer (football) into the mainstream here finally. If anything, I feel they've somehow gotten worse. :| They played well in the last Cup despite having been placed in the toughest group; if that ref hadn't screwed us over in the Italy game, we'd have advanced along with the Czechs. I have to admit, I still get angry when I see clips from that game. Anyway, losing to Costa Rica *again* in the qualifiers and struggling to beat Honduras is not what I'd consider an improvement. I'll be supporting them as always in the Cup, but I know I'll only be disappointed again. Germany is another favorite team of mine, but they were a disappointment in the last Cup as well after they lost to Italy in the semi-finals (having let in two goals during overtime). Ah well, I'll be watching it obsessively whether or not my teams play well. Interested in helping the Tip.It Crew? Check out our Website Updates & Corrections Board! I haven't heard much about them. Yeah, I supported Germany once, look how that turned out. If I can remember correctly, last time Germany won, it was WEST GERMANY. :wall: Most of my friends, however, go for Argentina. Them being Argentinian and all that. And England. Pfft. They always lose in the quarters. If they're even lucky to get there. :P Lately though, I don't go for a single team, but instead just watch and enjoy.
