biox
I did a silly thing, and installed a custom login program. As soon as I did, I decided I didn't want it, so I uninstalled it and forgot about it. Later that night I was burning a DVD while I was out, and my genius sister decided it was a good time to use the PC - thanks to the program, fast user switching and the welcome screen is disabled, so my before-mentioned genius sister decided to log me out. I googled the solution and fixed it (http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ginadll.htm) but the Welcome screen and fast user-switching still won't work. I need it back, because my sister doesn't ask if she can use the computer or not - she just does. Any ideas?

____
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/973/ Is fast user switching even enabled in the registry? I haven't come across a case where the registry key was actually removed but you never know :-? I dunno how you could've lost the ability for fast user switching but it's just 'blah' atm. Maybe you could go back to whereever you got the original custom logon prog and see if they got any FAQ on losing the FUS :-? *shrug*

biox
Rick, Spiral; thanks for answering, but both of those entires don't do a damn thing. Something else is keeping the welcome screen from working, and I cannot see what it is.

Chris
OK. Installed it, I put on the "Aids" skin... Ew. Anyway. I restarted, logged in with it and uninstalled the program. Restarted and the Aids thing was still there, so I installed the program again used the return to default button. Restarted and it was fine. My only problem is, my Welcome screen was already broken... Edit: Actually, you don't have a welcome screen, what do you get when you "Switch User"? Notoriously Trollish. xyrec
I dunno about the pc problem but as far as the sister problem, go get yourself a retired police K-9 unit german sheperd. Building on his former training, teach him to kill anyone who touches your computer other than you. Then hang a nifty little sign on him that says "Touch my computer and you'll end up dog food." Oh, and he might be an older dog but that won't matter. He may not be able to chase down street thugs anymore, but I'm sure he'll be more than a match for your sister. :D

I wouldn't worry about it mate, both me and biox have worked with computers before, and I know for one that he wouldn't ask for help in any other circumstances. I'm not too bothered either, I'm the only one who uses my Laptop. :P PS: That's not the solution to our problem. Thanks anyway. Notoriously Trollish.
