BBC3
iron ore is 210 each, this could be because of increased demand of some sort, or merchants due to the market for iron ore being relatively small, or maybe even inflation? heres the chart for it: http://itemdb-rs.runescape.com/Iron_ore ... 40&scale=2 iron ore has always been a stable item for many years, now look at what it has become even under these tough times. 4000000657th to 99 cookin555555406th to 99 flethcin
Pinkbullet3
Haven't we seen this happen to many items before? What makes iron ore any different? My guess is merch clans. ^ Blog.
gorofujita
I thought iron was too big of an item to be bough out by any clan, because it is so easy to obtain, I would think the supply would always be bigger than the demand. But who knows, maybe a ton of smithers out of the 76k noobs? lol who knows
Kaida23
Just about everything has been going up all summer. Maybe it's simply because of everyone being off school and demand going up. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

Punitive_D
Well, time to sell those 10,000 ore I've had sitting in my bank for the past 6 months. This is exactly right -- I sold all of mine. Merchers can't effectively buy out iron ore. Every newb in the game can mine it. At this price, I'm sure people already are starting to pound away at iron rocks. The Dark Lord
Maybe multiple merch clans are working together to buy out iron? That's the only possible way that they could create enough artificial demand to deplete the supply and make the price soar. n64jive
I don't understand how merching clans would be able to do this effectively...There is very little demand for iron ore...mainly because the supply is so massive, and also because you only need iron ore to 68 smithing...once there, there is really no use for it. I'm kind of baffled it it's just because of general inflation. I really don't see how a clan would be able to keep the price from toppleing... Jacobien
Maybe it is being influenced by the demand of cannonballs (~275 ea).

jackjonson
i think there's something everyone is missing. regardless of the supply, increased demand will drive up the price. it doesnt matter if there is an unending supply, with the way the ge works as long as sales are being made at max, the price will go up. a clan does not need to buy out the entire market to effect the price
warren211
I really think Jagex needs to take action against merchants, not simply encouraging players to avoid them. They said the same thing for 26king but nothing changed till Jagex stepped in with more updates. But I guess Jagex has to play it cautiously, they don't want another pvp update where it fixes one problem and causes 5 others. Especially with most of the runescape economy lying in the balance, an aggressive and sudden update from Jagex could put a slight dent in merching clans but they will find a way around it, and players will have to suffer the consequences of such an update. I'm hoping that if Jagex isn't going to take action right away that they at least start PLANNING a fight with these clans. Things like these can't go without response from Jagex. Nothing grinds my gears more than a merchant clan attacking one item and it reverberates on many other items. As someone else said, iron ore may be shooting up because cannonballs were being merched, thus affecting steel bars and the ores that make it, and in turn will probably affect items that are smithed from steel like armor (not like they were a huge part of the economy anyway, but still). [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.[/hide]Apparently a lot of people say it. aznmidget448
I'm guessing increased demand. Most people normally just powermine and don't bank so there are so few people who sell it on the ge. I'm guessing more people are making granite crabs and steel bars. Yeah, this item is probably too big for merchant clans unless a couple of them joined together :\
ldailey06
Inflation has been high this summer, but nothing goes up 100% in a month without help from a merchant clan. In this case, a group of idiots--who for some reason bought out one of the easiest items to obtain in the game-- led by a genius who is about to get rich off their ignorance. strilmus
Well, he can't be getting that rich, dumping that amount of ore would take way too long before the price bottomed out. He'd have to fight to break even.
