Muse - The Resistance

Anyone here excited about the new album? I am so pumped and found two of their new songs on youtube. I think this new style of theirs, based purely on these two songs, really pays homage to Queen. In some parts of United States of Eurasia, I could of sworn it was Queen, if I didn't know better. Muse are going on tour as well, 'The Resistance Tour', so I am really hoping they come to New Zealand. For more info on that, visit Muse's site - www.muse.mu

'Uprising' is the first single from Muse's new album (The Resistance) -

I love the swing style of it, reminds me of Exo-Politics from their last album. Matt's vocals also seem deeper. Pre-Release review by a french media song described it like this:

Matt Bellamy's voice is deeper than usual. In terms of lyrics, this is the usual Muse: conspiracies, apocalypse, he announces a gathering, speaks of victory and that "they will not control us." The sound, still very dense and heavy is accompanied by passages of synths. The overall structure is rather straightforward.

I think it is a great song, a bit generic compared to other Muse songs. One more track has been shown to the public, 'United States of Eurasia', which I think is a better song. I love the piano arrangements, especially the excerpts of Chopin. Very 'Queen-esqe' in some parts.

So what are your thoughts on these songs, the new album in general, or maybe the tour they are going on?

Super excited about the album, I was listening to United States of Eurasia for the first time and was like, "This is almost Queen'. (Matt is probably the only person who even comes close to having the same vocal range as Freddie Mercury- he could do a nice tribute album if he wanted to) Really looking forward to it, kind of disappointed that they only have like 5 concerts in the US so far and they're all in like New Jersey.

But it's Muse. They can do no wrong. Also looking forward to 'Plug In Baby' which will be on Guitar Hero 5 in September.

I've been closely following the release of this album since June, and I am stoked. It was awesome how they released The United States of Eurasia. The songs are okay, but real growers. My only complaint is that they're playing about an hour from my house in late September, yet since they're touring with U2 the tickets cost $300 a person -.-

I really wanted to hate those songs. However, they aren't too bad. Not exactly the greatest or most musical songs ever, but I would listen to it.

I'm now intrigued about the new Muse album.

I've always thought Muse was a fun band to listen to. Not the most musical or talented band in the world, but they know how to make catchy songs.

hoping someone has a signed copy for sale for release.

I don't even like Muse and I think this is gonna be worth a couple of plays. They're trying new things when I thought they'd succumbed to silly pop-rock formula. This could be my biggest surprise of 2009 if the rest is as solid as what I'm hearing now.

I think you'll like what you're going to hear, Silversword. The last song of the album is actually going to be in three parts, and is going to be accompanied by an orchestra. It's supposed to be real epic. The composer of the band, Matt Bellamy, stated in an interview a few months ago that if there was a song to remember him by, it would probably be "this symphonic monster" they're releasing on their new album. Also, apparently they're also trying a song without guitar, and with "timbaland-esque" vocals.

I think it's going to be an interesting album!

The first two songs are great. United States of Eurasia sounds very 'Bohemian Rhapsody' which I thought was different and the more I listened to it the more I liked it.

Uprising is really catchy and I can't wait to buy the album.

Damn, WMG strikes again, with the first song, that video got taken off. But USOU sounds very similar to Bohemian Rhapsody. I will agree with that.

Im looking forward to this album

I was really impressed with Uprising, I fell in love with it after 10 seconds. USOE sounded very different from most Muse songs but it was brilliant; reminded me of Queen at 2 points. First time I heard it I thought wtf this doesn't sound like Muse but then I started to like it.

Overall it sounds like an extraordinary album. The songs are catchy and I can really see Exogenesis being an absolute amazing song.
