Leik
John Wick. Simply a stunning movie, really surprised me. Easily one of the greatest action movies I've ever seen. Keanu Reeves absolutely kills it, plus the little appearances by Ian McShane and Willem Defoe are really good. Definitely worth watching just for the club scene alone, the cinematography is brilliant. The story itself is fairly cliché, but it just works perfectly due to the fantastic action, stunt work and camera work. LIVERPOOL WILL WIN THE PREMIER LEAGUE THIS SEASON. I also thought it was hilarious how it seemed like Keanu had to shoot everyone in the head, even the dudes he shot multiple times in other places. I've seen a bunch of movies but I don't remember all of them. However, today I went and saw McFarland, USA in theaters. Great movie. I'd definitely recommend it. | My Tumblr |
highlanders
INTERSTELLAR Holy shit. One of the best movies I have EVER seen. I'm tempted to talk about it, but I feel like I would write waaaaay too much. Never been a huge fan of Matthew McConaughey or Anne Hathaway, but they did an fantastic job in this. Big thumbs up to Christopher Nolan. Plot, graphics, actors/actresses, music (Hans Zimmer shines again) - EVERYTHING about this movie was good. It does deal with some concepts that I don't think any human can comprehend, but the movie does a good job at trying to imagine how certain things may be. Perfect 10/10 from me. You HAVE to see this one in theaters. I'm going to see it multiple times as well as buy it on DVD when it releases. If any of you've seen it and have something to say spoiler-wise, I'd love to hear it. :) Interstellar has some interesting concepts but I didn't like the mystical "love transcends time and space" narrative and the convenient sappy ending. Such a hollywood thing to do. 2480+ total
Estonian dude
Just saw Interstellar. Finally a good piratable version also came out. Couldn't get the whole hype around it. JeRambo
Alpha Dog. [bleep]ed up, but I still enjoyed most of it. "Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come." JeRambo
I haven't enjoyed many of the latest new release movies, but I did enjoy Kingsman: The Secret Service. :). Also rewatched Braveheart. Arceus
I watched Twelve Monkeys, was really good! And reading IMDB's trivia page was a nice bonus - it paints the director as quite a character too. Apparently there is a TV show based on it now so I'm currently watching the one season that has been made, but that probably won't take me long to finish :-D. Major Dash
I just finished watching Chinatown. One of the best modern movies of the genre that I have seen. The ending is horribly depressing as always. “I had a feeling we weren’t coming back from this fight when it began.”“Do you have any regrets?”“I don’t. It seems surprising, I know, but I wouldn’t change a thing. This is how it was meant to be.”“Huh, you never really notice how lovely the day is until you realize you’ll never see it again.”“Mmmhmm.”
muggiwhplar
Hot Girls Wanted. A seriously eye-opening (and good!) documentary. Have happened myself on these girls. I watched that with my brother last night on Netflix. I liked it until the film started pushing an agenda and twisting the facts around, at which point I started losing interest in it. It bothered me how they implied that the girls were forced to do certain things, when in reality they volunteered for it :| There were still some notable amusing moments though such as:- the girl who somehow couldn't figure out why the Duke girl was getting more attention than her- that one girl's chump boyfriend (and the purity rings LOL)
michel555555
Chappie.... 2/10 just for great cgi work on the robots. First off, big thank you to whoever nearly gave me a heart attack and is about to get fired from the canadian film board for rating it as a 14a or 13+ for explicit language and violence... Thanks for missing the scene with the porno playing in the back ground and me praying to god my 13yr old niece who was watching it with me didn't notice. Secondly here's the trailer and spoilers ahead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyy7y0QOK-0 Show of hands who thought it was a mix of robocop and irobot with a robot police officer gaining intelligence, finding the meaning of life and his place in the world ect. It sounds like a good movie. [hide]To bad it's a gang banger flick where you need a street-english dictionary to understand half of it. Pretty much half the dialogue consists of swears and never gets into any deeper meaning then the gang tricking childlike chappie into joining the gang and robbing an armored truck with somehow obtained killer ninja skills. After killing several people he shows remorse for all of two seconds before he breaks his ban on guns, arms up with grenades and an assault rifle and proceeds to break every limb in the villains body, slowly, one by one, and leaving him a bloody pulp. finally at the end of the movie we learn the meaning of life... There is none since chappie discovers the secret to immortality then goes on the run from the police who want him destroyed for the homicidal killing machine that he is. [/hide] Waste of money. [spoiler=click you know you wanna]Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

Alg
Show of hands who thought it was a mix of robocop and irobot with a robot police officer gaining intelligence, finding the meaning of life and his place in the world ect. It sounds like a good movie.Yeah. It almost felt like it could have been two separate movies, and the second half was just plain underwhelming even before the ending. Prior to that: Jurassic World. I get that it's Hollywood and it's more than a little unreasonable to expect anything resembling accuracy from them, but it almost feels like it could have been a better movie if they had taken fewer liberties. I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
