200M in all Skills

Recommended Posts

I have personally donated over 1B gp to Suomi and I have also known him since he finished with his first 200M skill (fletching). I knew him better when I was playing more seriously (2 years ago), but I have still been in touch with him every now and then. I'm also one of the few people that has met him in the real life. (Yes, he can confirm this argument himself if it gets flamed)

Since I first met him and heard about hes goal I started tracking him and continued to do so for at least every other day for almost 4 years straight by now. I started to believe in him and his words and chances to get all 200M after he smashed fishing and agility (1 year straight 110h+/week). During that time I started to donate.

Even there is multiple posts about saying that people shouldn't complain because the money was donated, or it's hes decision etc etc, but I still feel like saying this: I am very very dissapointed. After so many days I have been following him and waiting him to get all 200M it just feels so empty now. It hit me from the sky, really didn't see this coming. I would have put all my money on him just a year ago.

I'm still hoping that he will finish it one day, hopefully in six month, don't see this coming now tho. Can't blame him for his decisions, but I truely hope that he would try and finish the goal for all his fans. We all wanted to see someone to get all 200M, and now we have to wait another 2 years or more.

Now that Suomi has quit, do you think Jake will receive an influx of donations?

Hopefully not, It's annoying the only way people can get 5b xp is from donations, I have a lot of respect for Drowns as all his money is made from merchanting.

I have a way more respect for Elvis because he's a far higher rank and also all money made from merching.

Yes I wasn't pointing out the fact that Drowns should be the most respected, he was just an example.

Personally agree on some levels.

I have the greatest respect for the top ranked players that manage "competitive" Runescape and real life obligations together in balance. This could be college, high school, work, careers, online irl stock merchanting, whatever. Now I still like watching Jake's and Suomi's progress and I was "rooting" for Suomi to get 5bil as I'd like to see it done sooner then later. I think Jebrim posted once that on average over the past 2 years Suomi had an average of 16 hours a day based on exp gains, that personally blows me away and I could see why there is some burn out from that.

Still holding out some hope he comes around and finishes the 5bil journey, at even a slower pace. For me its nothing about the glory of him being first, but more seeing it done, just how I rooted for Zezima to max when he first did, just to see it done. Now maxing happens quite a few times a day, almost makes me wonder if 200mil all will ever become what maxing is today.

Yea, Max cape is the new Cook Cape..

If training methods keep getting easier and easier like they have recently with Runespan, Bonfires, etc., 200ms will still be much more rare than the amount of those with 99 obviosuly, but much more common than they should be imo.

Been talked about on the HLF, but i cant believe not one person has said here that this is an obvious attempt at attention and it has succeeded, this forum has got more attn these past days then the last month and all eyes are back on suomi again. Suomi even said it himnself in his farewell post or w/e you call it. I am willing to bet any money that once jake or someone else gets close to suomi he will start no lifing again

Would think if he really wanted attention, getting 200m all (which he is pretty close to) would do it. Hell Jagex did a post for the guy that got all 99s on one day, I imagine he'd have a shot at extra attention from that too.

It is amusing that the reaction from the HLF and TIF are totally different, reminds me why I chose to post/read here more and ignore the HLF all together a year or so ago.

Well, I think it's good he is reducing playtime. I suppose if he doesn't enjoy rs anymore then there is no reason to play. However, I do hope he still aims to get 200m. He has two skills left that can be trained at a decent pace and require little to no money. Maybe he really hates hunter like Paperbag hates dungeoneering (I remember those depressing posts he made on this very thread). It seems like a lot of top players are maxing the skills they enjoy and quitting because why train the skills you don't enjoy. Runescape is meant for entertainment purposes after all.

If S U O M I does come back he could say he felt he should max for his fans and those who donated. So it doesn't look like he was attention seeking.

Capes in order: Firemaking - Cooking - Construction - 99 Dungeoneering
- 120 Dungeoneering - Quest - Strength - Prayer - Herblore - Constitution
- Attack - Defence - Ranged - Runecrafting - Magic - Fletching - Mining

- Farming - Smithing - Slayer - Woodcutting - Summoning - Thieving - Hunter

- Fishing - Agility - Crafting - Divination - Max - Completionist

While I'm sad to see SUOMI go, I'm also kind of glad that he decided to quit. I want to see someone get 200m in all skills, but the race got so boring after it became clear that no one could beat SUOMI unless he quit. It's up for grabs now, so at the very least, it will make this thread more interesting to follow.

And of course, this is SUOMI's first burnout (or whatever else you'd like to call it). It's possible that he'll come back and finish up at some point; only time will tell.

Yeah I'm also kind of glad it'll be interesting again.

It'd kind of feel like a bit of a slap in the face if he came back now.

He doesn't have to be a charitable organization, the same concept applies.

Everything is done for a selfish reason, donating to SUOMI is no different than donating to another charity. People do it because they care about the end result or the cause. Sure people donate so they feel better about themselves but that's pretty much the motive behind everything, and donating to SUOMI is no different, they do it because they want to be part of the first players journey to 5bil xp.

Glad you realize that everything is done for a selfish reason. Surely now you also realize that it's irrational to be upset with Suomi, then?

Psychological egoism is hardly established. The best retort to that claim is one I'd make, you're simply CLAIMING that people always only act in selfish interests. That does not make it true.

That being said I think there are two arguments here, and it comes down to intentions.

1.) If people donated money to SUOMI to help him out, they have no reason to complain.

2.) If people donated money with both the expectation of him reaching 5b, and with at least the implication that SUOMI would actually go for 5b, they have some right to be upset.

Example: I give my brother 1 grand to buy a car. He spends it on a TV, fast food, and an xbox. Was it his money? Ya, I gave it to him. But I gave it to him for a purpose. Another example. If I gave a friend 100m in RS to buy gear after he was hacked, and he lost it all on flowers and dicing, would I have the right to be upset? Yes, I'd say. I gave it to him, it was his, but he misused it, and betrayed my trust.

These are my lines of reasoning on the subject. Personally, since this is a matter where its going to be opinion based, others may disagree. Do I think SUMOI has an obligation to pay it back? No, that'd be rather unreasonable. Do I think that people have the right to be a little upset about it? Maybe. Personally, If I had given a donation I wouldn't be upset at this point. But I can see why other's might be.

A donation can also be an investment, usually an emotional one.

I donated to a charity and because I care about what the charity's going to do with it I also invested myself in the charity emotionally.

All this shows is that people used the wrong word when they had invested their money. Providing the definitions means nothing.

I don't care about the Gp even I donated more than 1B by myself alone. It just kills me that he didn't make it and is Quitting now. It's just an excuse I can use to complain lol. I donated for nothing!?

But seriously, I would pay him much more just for finishing it now

people comparing donating a few golden coins on a game to donating real money to the fight for cancer wow.

First of all, this.

Second, in my opinion, if you donate to charity for ANY reason, (whether that be for emotional or physical investment) other than to genuinely want to help people, you are doing it for the wrong reasons.

I can't help but think all the people that are complaining about donating to what is now a lost cause are doing so because they can no longer claim they helped Suomi to 200m all.

I don't care to name names but people in this thread have specifically stated their donation was an investment. By very nature of the word investment, you expected something in return which IS selfish.

Nobody expected anything in return, they just expected suomi to get 5b xp.

Exactly, and expecting him to carry on playing to get 200m all when he has obviously stopped due to personal reasons is selfish.

Sylph. When you run a marathon, and you're 400 meters off the finish line. Isn't it normal that your relatives and supporters tell you to pull yourself up and carry on running? They don't give a damn if you can't even hold yourself up or if you are about to throw up. It might be a bit selfish, but that's normal in that situation.
