Tafkan
Hey guys, what is the best thing to runecraft at my level? By "best" I mean "fastest without losing anything, preferably profiting" - so definitely no Graahks. The goal is to get to 77 to make my own blood runes. Zaaps1
If you wouldn't mind getting 1 magic level first, your best option is to do Smoke Runes, although if you're willing to take loss instead of profit/break even, Steam Runes get 5k more xp/hr. Just fyi, steam runes are the fastest way to train runecrafting until the mid-80s, when ZMI becomes better. I'd say you're pretty borderline for steam runes (cost vs. time), but should definitely do smoke. ~It's Super Effective! You say steam runes are the best xp until mid-80's, yet looking at the xp tables it seems lava runes would get more exp. What makes steam runes faster than lava runes? Kidd_Varrow
Time spent traveling. But if they're both done at the fire altar, the time spent traveling is the same.
warrior5024
Lava runes are far more expensive So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.
Tafkan
Smoke/Steam runes? I can get one more magic level easily, but I've never ever made combination runes before. How exactly do I do this? Mordendravid
Personally I'd recommend just doing the zmi. At your level you should make a small profit going via ZMI or at the very least break even. Smoke/Steam/Lava runes are quicker xp *if* you get everything right, the extra mage lvl is to cast imbue. I personally find this method a bit too much of a hassle, and the xp/hour is severely reduced if you cast at the wrong time etc.
Zaaps1
It's more labor intensive, to be sure. But it's definitely faster xp. Lava runes are better, but they are exponentially higher in cost, which makes them impractical. ~It's Super Effective! I just went 70-77 using ZMI; it's quick and makes a few gps (with the Ardougne cape, especially). *******"All that is gold does not glitter..."
