super attacks to 88 and use those to make extreme attacks

Don't do super attacks: Super Energies would be a better choice (cheaper and faster), although I'm not sure on the availability of Avantoe. Alternatively, Super Restores are decent, and Magic Potions would be even better (if you can get your hands on lantadymes).

My personal recommendation would be to make super energies until 84, and then make recover special potions. The Super Energies are a good choice because they are cheap, moderate xp; in addition, you then have all the super energies you will need to get 90 (they are a pain to buy! You must camp the GE for update and pay max.) Super Energies are very fast xp, and are relatively cheap (even with the pots being unsellable).

The days super energies are cheap are over. They are now also over 25 gp/xp when you value the end product as 0 gp. I am going for 90, 95 or 99 herblore right now, and most of my xp will come of super energies, however I got all of them for 1-1.5k each (most of them for around 1.2k I think) so for me they actually are cheap. I also just got 80-84 herblore making super energies, like you suggested, but again, I got my avantoes at 1.7k each. Right now with avantoes at 4.5k, and super energie at 3.5k this time is over.

But if you wait a bit, they might become a bit cheaper again. Right now, most prices seem at its peak, and they will crahs, so it's better to wait. I can't really think of an item you should hoard now because it's cheap.

As a general advice, I would try to make like 1k extreme antifires, 1k special restores, and 1k extreme super sets for your own use. They should be almost enough for a lifetime, and will provide good xp, even if it might be bit expensive, you will probably use them at one time. Don't forget that if you make, say, a extreme strength and you pay 7k for that dwarf weed, you can substract 5k of that price as the price for the xp (since most stuff is now 25 gp/xp) so you are left with paying 2k for the extra str levels compared to a normal super str. That seems okay, if you ask me. Same goes for super attacks. The only one I can't really justify is the extreme defence, unless you are pking maybe.

Best way?

Stick your Kingdom on herbs and something which makes some cash.

Gather your own herbs.

Gather your own seconds.

It really isn't that hard to do, I'm 89 herblore from kingdom, a little farming and slayer drops. Never really said "I'm training herblore".

As for gathering herbs yourself you can get a lot farming, and you get what you want at a fraction of the price.Use the Amulet of Nature and My Arm's patch for high price herbs to ensure they don't die. Id say a run takes about 10 minutes if you only do herbs. For the rest of that time go and kill Abby Spectres with a BoB. You can do about 2 invens full in the time the herbs grow.

Seconds are a bit trickier as some take an age to gather alone and some are expensive/cheap. Also depends on how much the herb cost. For example Snape Grass for prayer potions are dirt cheap, and considering my ranarr is essentially free I'm still profiting by not gathering myself. That said, even if I did gather myself, it is a fast gather with Lunar Spells. Eyes of Newt are also an easy gather. Just a quick trip to a herblore shop. Things like Wine Of Zamorak and Blue Dragon Scales are things I buy, purely to save time. As a general rule, if you can make more money in the time it takes you to gather the seconds, then buy them. If you can't then go gather them yourself.

Also when making potions, be aware of other uses for the herb and the XP. Lantadyme for example is for anti fires and extreme defence. Antifire pot gets you 157.5 and the super version 210. totalling 367.5. Whereas a super defence gets you 150 and them extreme defence gets you 240, a total of 390. So whilst it may look good making anti fire pots, perhaps saving the lants until 90 would be better once you are nearing 90.

Don't forget Yanille Bar sells a Greenmans Ale which boosts herblore by 1. May not matter at early levels but when you get to the latter ones, the ability to make better potions earlier is a godsend.

Cat, DIY is all nice and such, but it is still better to farm the herb that makes the most, and sell those, and then traing herblore with the herb that's the cheapest. Those 2 are nearly never the same.

Your lant examples is also pretty bad, becuase a lot depends on what you lose when making the antifires and super defences. Then you have the antifire second which is untradeable, which makes it even harder to compare. But basicly, when making extreme defence pots, you are paying 6k (the lant) for 240 xp. Of course, you get an extreme defence in stead of a super defence, so lets value the extra bonus as 1k (thats quite generous for defence bonuses IMO). That means you still are paying 5k for 240 xp. This is assuming you will use the extreme defences at one point (so doesnt apply if you will make like 30k of those). Otherwise you wouldnt value them 1k gp above a normal super defence.

For antifire its much more difficult cause you have to gather the second yourself, so it depends on how you value your time. Also, you wont use that much antifires normally, so after 1k the costs of the original antifire starts to count too.

Personally, I have bought a huuge stash of super energies when they were still cheap (1.1-1.5k each) and I have bought the papays for around 1.7-2.1k each. However, I am thinking about reselling part of them, since they have become very expensive (25gp/xp compared to 15 before) and other pots are competing now. I am going to make 3k overloads once I hit 96 to go for 99. So I will also make 3k extreme attack, 3k extreme defence, 3k extreme strength, 3k extreme ranging and 3k extreme magic for the road to 96. Making an overload from the normal pots costs around 45k gp now and will give you 2.2k xp. Thats around 20 gp/xp which is decent, and that is when I value the overload at 0 gp! Thus overloads are a very decent option atm. When you would value an overload at 10k gp, the cost is only 16 gp/xp. These 3k overloads will also be a very nice (hopefully lifetime) supply for whatever I do. Since I have a ton of them I would use them even if I need only a part of it. So I need super str and attack? Use overload. Need range bonus and super def, use overload. They also save some invent space, especially at TDs. So in short, I am looking forward to overloads :-)

The only problem atm are the spikes which are unbuyable. I dont get it though, you can get 300 an hour and decent xp, so they should crash soon.
