ladycai
Based on my stats, what gear should I use when slaying dark beasts? Also, what items should I bring? 95/99 Summoning95/99 Slayer [hide=This is what you look like when you play RS too long][/hide]
Obtaurian
Normal melee equipment with proselyte, use protect from melee, bring a cannon if you'd like. I personally bring an Enhanced Excalibur instead of a DDS because the beasts tend to mage me a lot. Use zamorak brews and super strengths, a BOB familiar, and if you've done Within the Light, you can simply teleport near the lair without having to bring full mourner gear. I highly recommend that you use piety. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
NastyJenny
I use this for them (full pray method) : Proselyte, slay helm, d boots, fury, wealth (you never know... lol), whip, Zammy book, skill cape t (allthought i'd replace now with ardy 3 cape). Before able to make extreme att and str i just used zammy brews. Now the tank method with unicorn probably works good too, but i really have no idea. (promised myself to try next task with no pray). Thinking 2 unicorn scrolls per kill would be needed more or less, which probably is more than special bar can handle. So yes Enhanced Excalibur too. And letting the beasts attack you (they may only use mage when you click on them). Tank method is just guess... The prayer one works for sure. qeltar
The best way to kill them is prayer with Dharoks. Don't get too low, just in case, but if you don't run from melee, they won't mage you except once in a while. ladycai
Sounds efficient :P Anyone ever use a tanking method though? I thought I'd try it. 95/99 Summoning95/99 Slayer [hide=This is what you look like when you play RS too long][/hide]
qeltar
I've done it without prayer. But this is a case where I don't think it is worth it. You may well end up spending more on food than you would on prayer pots, and it's a hassle. zotto
85 defense? Pray them. I always tank them. But tanking isn't really tanking. It is semi-tanking. I wear bandos, SGS, slayer helmet, d boots, fury, trimmed slayer cape ;), RoW. You can use either bunyip or unicorn, with the sidenote, that a unicorn burns up so many unicorn scrolls that you could just as well pray the whole thing. What you do is very simple. You superpot (att, str, AND def). You step in. You kill them. When the dark beasts get lots of lucky hits, you turn on protection prayer. You use your SGS and bunyip to top up health and prayer. This sometimes takes a while. When you are in fine form again, you turn off protection prayer and hope you are a bit more lucky now. You see, sometimes you can have quite long lucky streaks where they are hardly hitting you. Of course, you can also use verac top and skirt for extra prayer bonus. Makes the use of prayer pots more economical, but to be honest I can't even bothered with it. Why not whip and DFS? I did a small test and in it I noticed that SGS was slightly faster than whip and DFS. And it has a better prayer bonus. But do it the way you want to. Doing the semi-tanking method you save quite a lot of prayer pots. And i find it more stimulating since you have to pay attention and make small strategical decisions. To pray or not to pray. And occasionally they drop a shark or two which are also used for healing.
ilovecardj
Whip and defender is better then sgs for dark beasts. ive tested it, even while tanking. its far better then whip and dfs also. I wouldnt tank without an sgs and a unicorn though. though your probly best off pro melee with piety Dragon Drops: 80+ boots, 7 med, 3 skirt, 2 left half, 2 Spear, 2 2hSlayer: 30+ whips, 4 Bows, 1 Mask, 3 Granite Legs, 1 Visage (Wyverns)Notable GWD Splits: Bandos Tassets: 12, Bandos Chest: 11, Bandos Hilt: 2Proud Slayer of 99 Att/Str/Def/HP/Range/Summoning
