Misterknowitall
For those who say that people just make multiple accounts to spread false info on the forums and the forums should have been kept p2p: Did you not know that you need around 12mil total exp before you can post in the forums? I doubt anyone is going to make like 10 accounts and get 12mil exp on all of those just to spread false information...They didn't say RSOF. It's easier to spread the false information on a fansite forum and let it flow towards the RSOF.Piece of cake.

The Dark Lord
There's an update on January 11, yes. Jagex has said this before, and it caused a lot of people to be pissed off. Some people think that Jagex taking a 3-week break that started around Christmas means that they're going to release a big update on the 11th. This could be true, but there's no evidence for any sort of large update. Jagex is just taking a well-deserved break. Besides that, people on RSOF are extremely gullible. For example, some price manipulators spread rumors that dragon claws will be nerfed to a 55% spec drain. People with claws freak out and dump it in the GE. People then hear about claws starting to crash, so they dump theirs as well because they don't want to lose money. Soon, you have a massive crash, which is exactly what the manipulators wanted in the first place. They then wait a few days and buy them out early in the morning, so the price starts to rise. Don't believe jack [cabbage] of what you hear on RSOF, unless a J-mod says so. SWAG Mayn U wanna be like me but U can't be me cuz U ain't got ma swagga on. Dragonlordjl
Once upon a time, Jagex put out a BTS where, among other things, they said "Hold on to your robin hood hats folks, because ... (something)" To anyone with a brain and a clue, this was just an obvious joking modification of "Hold on to your hats folks ...." To everyone else (seemingly about 75% of the RSOF) this was a CLEAR message from Jagex that robin hood hats were going to be made untradeable/rarer/whatever and they went nutso buying them and spreading rumors and so forth. And this is part of why I firmly believe that Jagex should remove the RSOF marketplace forums. People on the RSOF are too gullible, and merchant/manipulator clans know that, so it's pretty easy for them to have a bunch of their members post similar false offers, leading the ignorant masses to believe that X item is being bought out or dumped and therefore panic buy/sell that item. Removing the RSOF marketplace would be a major blow to manipulator clans.
Trollface
Bandos and AGS both rose significantly today. Once again, merchanters are probably responsible.
Big_Stingman
So many threads on items crashing... Probably it's a combination of some merchanters taking advantage of the end of winter break when many people go back to school. Oh well I'm F2P so.. BiJay
QFC: 16-17-114-60088175 "... the next game update which will be launched in the week commencing the 11th of January." It's not exactly the 11th but the week beggining on the 11th. And most weapons/armour were falling in price because people finally realized they were a little bit too expensive. Troacctid
Currently I'm fairly certain we have no information on what will be coming out in the next update, except that the Christmas event (and candy cane glitch) will end and Fairy Tale 3 is scheduled for release soon. If anything, that means a spike in low-level farming- and herblore-related items because of the quest requirements--any effect on weapons and armor is extremely unlikely. Star_Fox
are we going to have this same speculation for every update announcements, especially when the year just started?!.... :wall:
strilmus
I find it less likely that everybody has suddenly realised that the market value of items aren't in line with their actual potential, and more likely that any major price change is due to a frenzy involving much jumping of the gun and trickery. Although you can't blame the rumor mills for EVERYTHING, the RSOF is pretty good at indicating times of panic. I think Jagex may have to start punishing people for rumor spreading. That'll end well.
zotto
It seems the prices are bouncing back again. I guess some "merchanters" made a big profit. I agree with the previous statements that people shouldn't buy stuff they "can't afford". If it makes you nervous that a BGS drops a few million, maybe you shouldn't buy one. I actually have a BGS in my bank just for lending out (I use my SGS for daily use). I'm not even lending the BGS out for profit. Sometimes I am at a bank and I see a slightly lower level player that needs a break. I just loan my BGS out to them for free or for a token for as long as they want it. Lending out expensive stuff is one of the last ways you can really help out your fellow runescaper. I just bought a BGS to tie up some cash. Who cares that it drops a million. You can make a million GP in an hour, and if you don't put any effort or risk into it, within 2 hours. Just don't freak out when a price drops. Either you have a piece of equipment because you use it, or otherwise you have it for price speculation, and then you should be aware of the risk. Or you have it just for fun. And then who cares. Mercifull
I'm a little torn about the removal of the market boards. They still have a legitimate use for people who wish to trade at market price to a specific individual just like the old days. However most of the posts on there now are either part of a marketing scam, unsubstantiated rumor or people saying "buying/selling X on the GE" with no price or information. It's little more than a spam board. It can be argued that now the Grand Exchange exists we have no need for market boards and as they are abused so much and full of complete idiots (see queltars robin hood comment) it would probably be for the best it it were removed. As for the "crash" it will be shortlived, it looks like many items already went back up a tiny bit today which means someone somewhere probably made a whole chunk of money from panic sellers. Perhaps any kind of market talk should be banned from the forums, afterall trade should all be done via the GE which (if it were a perfect system) will update prices automaticly based on legitimate supply and demand. SwreeTak
OMGZ JADEX ARE MAKING ARMORZ UNTRADIBLE ON THE 11TH SELL NOW! Seriously... If people are THAT afraid for their "hard earned" cash, they shouldnt even have any items in the first place. When the update comes out and having good armor makes the update even better, im going to laugh at all the people who sold their stuff. For all anyone knows, there could be a new set of gloves that give a higher strength bonus then barrows gloves does.AGS, Bandos, DFS, Whip will all go up from people wanting to try the new max hit. (That above is just an example though, I have no idea if new gloves are coming out.) Its also new years. Many people could be selling all their stuff to see how big they can get their cash pile for the new year.I did this before, its rather fun. :P You get a fresh start with a nice pile of cash. I kinda loose faith in for future updates if everytime jagex say "We are releasing new equipment" is going to crash the market.Bandos crashes, they release some items kinda like the summoning headresses then bandos skyrockets in price again. I agree fully with you. I too believe that people sell off their old items to get cash and get a new good start. Prices rises and prices falls, it for sure doesn't have to do with that there's a big update coming the 11:th of January. It is much more likely that it depends on something else. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak

I personally disagree as I think that stupid people should get exactly what they deserve. A fool and his money are soon parted. This is doubly true for the RSOF. Alg
RSOF? I heard about this ingame. Much easier to spread a rumor there, isn't it? Now is a good time to buy all that crap you wanted but could never be bothered to get... I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
