*THE* Nomad fight guide.

Hey there! Shadow Stalker here!

Pre-post: This guide is not 100% guide to beat Nomad, this is just how I did it. I am 100% sure that there are better guides. I heavily suggest reading a few guides and mix and match until you find the one that works for you.

I have been reading the RSOF recently, and have seen that quite a few people are having difficuties with beating the last boss. Personally I did not find this quest that hard, in fact, I found that it was too short to really be a 'Grandmaster' in my opinion.

It only took me 1 serious attempt to beat him on the higher level account, about 5 on the lower one. First I learnt his attacks with a inventory of sharks and a tort full of them too, just to see how far I could go with them, got him to 1/4-2/4 health. I heavily recommend that you do this to (monks will do fine) to see and learn his attacks, and maybe use some of the tactics I will show you.

Here is how I did it (I've beaten him twice now, 2 different accounts)

NOTE: These are the exact ways I did it with the 2 accounts, and can be changed to suit your needs in terms of cash/levels. If you have better equipment than what I mentioned, use it

NOTE2: You magic level kind of counts here, as that is what is being tested with his mage attack. Mage level = Mage defence level.

NOTE3: I've seen a lot of people talk about ruby(e), I personally would NEVER use them if your using my guide. 1. Max is only 75, not that grand. 2. The times you use range is when you need max hp, hurting yourself during these times is not help your achieve your goal. Food is a resource in this battle that needs to be conserved.

NEVER USE BARROWS HERE - unless you are willing to spend the cash on fixing it every time you die.

Put food into tort like shown, this will help when you use 'take BoB'.

Instructions how to consume food:

Not sure what his max is, but I think somewhere in the 30's, so do not let it drop below 40. Drink 3 sara brew sips, then one Super restore sip. I also like to set out my pots like so. 1 Super restore (4) then 3 Sara Brews (4). This makes it easier to make sure you don't lose count of how much of each you have had.

THE FIGHT (for people of similar stats to me, if struggling, look bellow.):

STEP 0, PREPARATION.

Make sure you are using 'accurate' as your attack, you will hit more often. Set left-click option to 'Take BoB', this is a must for the fight.

  1.
  2. Sip 1 of each super att and str while talking to him, turn on piety, protect mage and Rapid Restore. Use bgs spec (mine never hit -.-), because if you land a blow, it will lower his defence, making it easier.
  3. Don't move from your position and keep attacking while he lays down the mines, I just took the 75 hit attack anyway, you are just wasting time running to the pillars imo. Maybe that only worked for me. Heal up again.
  4. When he creates the illusions, look for the one that attacks last, that is the real one.
  5. Range him when he freezes you, as you are not within melee distance. Pot up for his strongest attack and then heal after attack. Repeat 2) and use step 1) when possible.
  6. When he starts meleeing you nice and fast, pray melee.

NOTE: You will need to drop the empty vials, so do so when possible, such as when frozen and unable to attack.

  3. As soon as you see him laying down mines or when he first attacks, run behind the pillar to the left hand side (facing the big machine) two back from where you get frozen/attacked initially, then move to the pillar in front. This should lure Nomad in between the pillars, where he can still attack you. This is good, because once he teleports to the center, hide behind the pillar and you will not get hit with the 75-hit-attack. This time hiding behind the pillar is good for potting up on food and checking your stats. Drop empty vials here as well. Move in once he has finished the 75-hit-attack.

NOTE: do not hide for too long, if he says "Face me!" and you do not fight him in time, he heals to full hp.
    [hide=Here is the visual process:]

initalstart.png The start, basically this is where you stand when you talk/get teleported to.

firstmove.png Mines have started dropping, time to move.

secondmovment.png Your not safe here, but you will have gotten him stuck behind the pillar.

3rdmovement.png Move across now, hopefully he will move in between the pillars. If not, move around behind the pillar to get him to move.

4thmovement.png As he is in between the pillars, you can now attack him.

    fifthmovement.png

finalmove.png When he teleports, go the the square closest to the entrance. Pot up here and drop empty vials. Now go attack when his attack misses.
    [/hide]

  4. When he creates the illusions, look for the one that attacks last, that is the real one.
  5. Range him when he freezes you, as you are not within melee distance. Pot up for his strongest attack and then heal after it. Repeat from step 2) and use step 1) when possible.

Personally I find that Bandos GWD is harder than this boss.

When I finished the fight, I still had 3 healing sets left (1:3 ratio of Super restore to Sara brew).

Post any questions you might have, I will answer them as soon as possible.

Hey Shadow. Looks like a neat guide.

I have done all the new quest except for the last battle with Nomad. I have been gathering information as to how others have fought him, fishing rocktail and creating extremes and overloads. I am hearing numerous players say protect melee/mage does not work while fighting him; but only piety or soul-split with turmoil works. I may be misinterpreting since I have not tried it myself; also it might be that they had one protect on when Nomad was using a different combat style. As stated, I have not tried it. Also, I do hear your suggesting no barrows due to the expense in repair should one die; however, I am wondering hos well it might work, especially Guthans for the healing special.

I have been watching my son fight Nomad off and on now for several days. He has extremely high stats and keeps his cool in any fight; however, the fight has been dragging on and on with Nomad running all his hard hits over and over. My son's hits have not been doing much damage, which makes the fight a very long one. Seems the strategies mentioned in various guides are good .. if the fight did not last so long. Thinking now maybe "attack" instead of "stab" may be the way to go with a Zammy spear. Much to consider and I am looking forward to trying out various strategies on this bad boy.

Will certainly give your guide consideration and greatly appreciate your shring it.

I am what I am! Acknowledging this is the beginning and my growth is yet to end!!

I'll be adding more pictures to better explain, maybe also a 'perfect - high' and ' perfect - low' guide. If extremes are available, use them. If you have turmoil/soul split, I would use them over piety and protect prayers. The protect prayers don't negate the damage, but I find that it reduces the damage somewhat.

The problem with guthans is that it does not hit and heal that often to be all that effective, and because he is using a mage based attack, he will be hitting you rather hard. Barrows is ok if you are willing to expend the money on the fixing of it. In that case, I would suggest Karils top and bottom.

I have yet to try zammy spear, so I am not sure how effective it is. I know that I would hit 40's-30's every now and then with the bgs, as well as the tort hitting fairly surprising 8's every so often as well. Even when my stats were not restored (after having brews) I would still hit 20's+.

Hope this helps,

I think you should add that players with 92+ prayer will only need rocktails(I'm pretty sure you can do it with only rocktails at lower prayer too) if they use a good weapon, I used z spear and only ate 29 rocktail, and soul split and dodge the attacks that hit 75. Not using brews speeds up the kill because you're constantly potted. I brought a super set and 3 prayer potions in full black d hide and that lasted the entire kill.

P.S. For all you people that might look at that as me saying it's easy just go away.... I'm not saying it's easy.

Dude, if you can use overloads...from what I've heard if you use overloads, just chug brews in melee range and poke him with a Zamorak spear.

*looks you up*

Just attack him with Zamorak spear, use karils, soul split and the other high level prayer since you can, chug brews and you have a pretty good chance of winning. So so I've heard of people with your stats. By the way, is your son in melee armour by any chance? Magic armour works the best.

Thanks, but this is really just a guide to how I did it. As good as a guide is, it is better to see how others did it, and then mold it to your requirements. As I am only of average stats, this is closer to those that are having difficulties with the quest.

Zammy Spear > BGS. Other than that, nice guide.

I've yet to try that out, and I am not sure about that. Is that a personal finding, or what? Also, this is a guide to how I did it, not really how others did.

It's really just a matter of keeping up with sipping the restore pots after the sara brews to keep att/str def at 99.

Also make sure your HP is higher than 75 or the -1 of your hp when those hits are delivered.

I used z spear w/ turmoil/soul split prayers.

I got the red cape. What color did you guys choose?

I bought both, good old drop n' trade trick. 99 in all cmbs stats would make this a walk in the park, I found it not too hard at only average stats.

I have tried to kill Nomad 3 times now and all 3 times have died when he went berserk!

1. Taking overload during last part of fight will "assure" your death as it, alone, takes 50 hp from you. (No laughing now!) Obviously I had never used overload before and had no idea what it would do to my hp.

2. Took a sip of overload & then brought hp back up before entering the tent. Took tortois full of rocktails and inventory with 1 sara brew and 1 restore, 3 super prays, turned on soul-split and turmoil plus that other one that extends the boosts longer. Wore Armadyl with fire cape, bandos boots, infinity boots, fury, onyx ring and sara godsword [with rune c'bow and ruby(e) bolts for when he freezes me] .. Again died during berserk stage of fight!

3. Wore same, fought same yet took extra rock instead of the extra super prays (pray lvl 99). Still died during berserk stage.

Getting discouraged!

Are you running out of food or is he just hitting you faster than you can heal?

Have you ever considered bringing sara brews and restore pots instead of rocktails? I think that's where you're coming up short on. When I killed the nomad I still had 7 sara brews (4) and 2 super restore pots left over. Also try using z spear as the main wep instead of SGS. i only used sgs for the specials.

Yes I have been running out of food.

Thank you. I will take more sara/restore (less rocktail) next time and try the zspear right after I use up the sgs specials.

I am actually enjoying the challenges in this fight, especially since I never lose my expensive gear. )) (You don't suppose I am deliberately sabatoging my own efforts so I can keep enjoying Nomad do you? ROFL)

This guide suggest sarabrew and you should.

Rocktails are overated, sarabrews + restore combo store as much as 2.5times more health and have pretty much the same effect. Further more, they are a lot cheaper and much easier to buy in GE.

I have lower stats than you and never ate a rocktail, took an extreme potion or a super restore during my encounter.

I tried this guide 2 times... 1st time i died due to lag and 2nd time i ran out of supplies.

I beat him the 3rd time. I took more brews and cut down restores, got max range bonus and used ruby bolts (e) only. The bolts max at 75 and the special doesn't matter on your range level. Also, when he gets to beserk mode, safespot him on the pillars. He teleports away if you stay too long, but you get a warning. Every time he says "Face me!", let him take 1 hit at you and go back to the safespot. You can keep ranging him from there. I usually got 2 hits off for every 1 he did to me.

1. Try just extremes, and a 1:3 ratio for healing set.

2. Do not wear Armadyl here, it gives -18 to all attack bonus when wearing the full set. This is defiantly not what you want here.

3. You won't be needing prayers here if you use the healing sets, because the super restores will restore your prayer level as well.

I recommend BGS over all other godswords here, as the bgs spec can lower his defence, meaning you will hit more often and harder. You can try zammy spear, but I myself have no idea how good it is. Also, I would recommend using Method 125- as it has a little trick to avoid his 75-hit-attack. I think that using piety during the fight is better than the curses mainly because the quest requires use of it. Not 100% sure, but give it a try some time.

Read the 125- guide, made for lower levels, but it will mean that high levels should slaughter Nomad.
