Wonder how a G2H would fare in clan wars.

Its funny, actually, what people say when they see a G2H. When I'm in PvP, its "OMG you're risking a G2H? What a waste!" When I'm training somewhere, its "OMG G2H! What a waste! You should PVP with that."

Apparently a G2H is just a waste.

G2H is the bane of my existance... especially in the hands of anyone that has a higher combat level than me... I had one guy down to really low health, he promply hits one 300+ and I think another 100ish hits... In short, G2H is amazing, and probably a pretty good PvP weapon. Then again the ffa (safe) portal isn't quite the same as actual risk pvp

And Sonikku, that leaves open the question of why people do not use the battle axe as much.

I myself own a G2H, just recently. Apparently it isn't that good as what many people say. Sure, it's alot better than the rune scimitar, but it's accuracy isn't really that good. Maybe I only say so because I own a longbow sight, it has an accuracy of +120 with full dragonhide on, whereas the G2H has only about like what, +90?

That makes the G2H about 1/4 times less accurate than the longbow sight. I admit, the G2H is good. But meh, doesn't meet my expectations.

In theory the longsword should be better, but let me bring you back to the scim vs long debate.

The longsword is more accurate and better strength than the rapier, but the rapier can hit 5 more times in a minute (rapier 25, long 20).

Since the difference between the two weapons is so small, and most of the time style doesn't really matter since monsters are 0 def, rapier is better.

It still falls short to the rune scimitar though ;) The cost of gravite rapier is not worth the tiny bonuses.

Finally got 70 Dungeoneering and 70+ all levels again. Now I'm at a loss of what to do. I'm so tired of the insane exp reduction that I'm going to take a break from dunge.

Someone should give me ideas on what to do. Stats are in sig. I prefer skilling > killing and I have enough money, but I'd rather not part with a large chunk because I mass flip and it only works well with loads of cash, or in case I ever get p2p and need to get some weapons/armour.

Just for kicks I picked up Kayle's sling from xenia and used it on some of the NPC people in Lumbridge, but after a few kills it said, "Continued use of the sling is not recommended at your range level. Try instead a shortbow with arrows or a crossbow with bolts. Talk to your adviser for more information on ammo."

My issue with this is twofold.

1) There is no mention of a longbow, not even a hint. Why even have longbows exist then? It seems like Jagex knows they screwed up longbows bigtime and are hoping a Dungeoneering reward is enough to fix it.

2) Why do they give a weapon with unlimited ammunition to people and then expect them to not use it? I mean, sure it isn't as good as a maple shortbow, but it is close* so why not use a sling instead?

*Just a Hypothesis, I'm going to look into this.

A maple shortbow is +26 ranged bonus while the Kayle's sling is +5. They're both the same speed, but the Kayle's sling provides unlimited ammo with +6.5 ranged strength, and the maple shortbow's lowest arrows are bronze, which is +7 ranged strength.

Judging by the ranged accuracy, the maple shortbow is obviously better. However, I think once you reach the high levels (70+), this doesn't have that much of an effect, so perhaps it's worth looking into the Kayle's sling.

And as for Caitlin's staff, +1 magic bonus really isn't going to do much. I say that and air staff are still the same, so I personally wouldn't bother.

I still don't understand what has been changed to giant rats, giant spiders and goblins. Anyone care to explain please?

Goblins now have 67(?) lifepoints, instead of the previous 100. Not sure about others though.

@Sonic: In a long run, shortbow ranging is and will always be the best training method in F2P. Ammo isn't really a problem, iron arrows are like what, 12gp each? Bronze, 5? You're saving about 5K gp per hour and losing out on say, 5K xp per hour too. If you can't earn 1K an hour, you fail playing.

Got 82 mining last night. Still want 85 before next year, will have to no-life it or something...

Luckily I have two monitors, and mining is an easy skill to half pay attention. Now I just need to get a few decent movies or something.

Also, did anyone notice the rocks change color more dramatically now? When did this happen?

Plas, what I was implying is that will the accuracy matter on monsters like, say, flesh crawlers? Especially if you have full green dhide and high ranged.

Cash isn't really a problem with me, since I gather them from minotaurs. But being able to save cash is always a good thing. Plus it's 1 less bank space :P

You'll still miss, and in a long run, the accuracy difference WILL matter. It's why you see people using dragon axes for 99 woodcutting. It's just a meagre 5% improvement.

Then you're better off using arrows instead of the sling. And saving money isn't always a good thing if you're exchanging efficiency for it. And you have like what, 78 bank space? You really don't need more than that in F2P.

I tried the sling with max ranged bonus at fleshies. at 82 range, I am able to hit up to 90 and for no arrows, afk training, it is pretty good. However...bonus I would have gotten from a shortbow is clearly noticable. I was hitting only 70% of the time, compared to 80% with a maple short, 85% with grav short. So essentially, a 14.28% accuracy bonus for spending 1.4k arrows/hour equates to 13k/hour loss. In that hour, you gain 25k xp with shortbow vs. 21k/sling. That is pocket change for most people.

Summary: If you are cheap, use a sling. If not, go with the bow.

Yea, Goblin's LP have been lowered by 33. Probably because noobs were having trouble killing them or something. And I was going to post something to the effect of anim's post, but that seems like a waste of time now. Although, I must admit, I'm a little disappointed about the sling. I was really looking forward to unlimited ammo range training, but it isn't really worth it at this point. Also, I see no reason for this update. At all. Plus, there are standard slings that are worse than Kayle's sling. It all just seems so pointless.

On a different note: I'm just going to start a micro-rant but I'm not putting in 'Rants' because it really doesn't need it's own topic.

Here I go: Longbows have the exact same rangebonus as their shortbow counterparts. That makes absolutley no sense, and in my opinion, should be changed. [/rant]

Thank You for your understanding :P

Hmm, so it looks like maple shortbow is still better for training. Oh well I have tons of pocket change anyway, and I can always rc back the cash.

The infinite ranging thing is still awesome though.
