If it's done by merchants it's a long-term investment, because the max they can go up a day is 1%.

Or the demand just catched up with the supply.

What demand lol

3rd age is getting very pricey now adays especially the melee kite. It will crash sometime when the merchants dump all their sets. More and more 3rd age has been being put into the market with spirit shields being obtained from regular players.

Spirit shields are pretty good but the price and rarity keeps them from rising everyday. Especially considering the clans hoard their sigils. They will rise like 3rd age was unless Jagex ups the prices to something that would be worth selling it for or csing a 30 man team.

With more and more price manipulators getting maxed cash they have to invest in something and crashing rare hats is the answer. More and more people can afford the hats now adays too and they are somewhat of a goal for alot of players. I see them going up sometime after the 3rd age crash when merchants sell their 3rd age and are left with even more cash they can't do anything with.

Also with MMG promising that they are going to deal with price manipulators I see more people heading back to partyhats as it will be harder to buy 2.147B of an item and scam players out of their money by making it rise and crash.

some of the phats are rising becuase they are being merchanted.

Don't worry, with every [bleep]e up, there is a [bleep]e down.

As soon as one trade is seen down, people will dump then.

Then the cycle continues again.

Everything but the still overpriced blue and white hats went up today, mainly because most people upgrade to blue and white instead of buying it for straight cash.

Saying that the whole manipulation is merchants is a fallacy. When you go onto the discontinued item forum, the buyers are mostly regular players, not the huge merchanting clan some people are building up partyhat buyers to be. The only thing that kept p hat dropping was merchants saying that they were useless. Once they turned it around and began buying, the people got interested again in some of the rarest items in the game. Now that people are beginning to realize that partyhats are very rare and hold their true GE value, I don't see them steadily dropping again, though of course there will be [bleep]es.

I think party hats are starting to rise because all the cheap noobs can afford them, 60mil ain't all that much these days,

Absolute [cabbage]. theres ALOT of players like me who have played since 01' and aren't even hitting the 10m mark.

OT: Spirit shields I can belive to rise alot due to the rareness in drop, the monster and the high requirements and extremly usefull abilities they hold. 3A isn't as strong as Torags but is rare ONLY because of Treasure Trails, hell I see 3A more then what I see of Animal Masks. and Party Hats? honestly dont deserve to be their price. Its a holiday item, a festivity, not a damn tool for players to use as barganing chips to increase their wealth.

Wow, how can you play from '01 and not have more than 10m? I have played since mid '07 and have 30m ish +about 30m spent on stats, if not more.

OT: Why should rare things NOT be a bargaining chip? Look at the real world. Things which are rare, such as the 1913 buffalo head nickel is worth alot.

Whites will also go up soon, they are selling for over their medium price.

I was honestly prepared to buy myself a phat and go into real semi-retirement and now...

This is what I did

A red and a yellow have been sitting in my bank for about a month and I haven't really played RS at all. I've been keeping up with the community still and watching for some great updates...and it is an absolute thrill to see my two little "long term" investments start to show some promise already. Every day when I wake up and see that they have risen AGAIN....the feeling is indescribable. I am an old old school RS player...and I am absolutely delighted that I managed to nab two pieces of RS history while the prices were so low. I am aware that there is the possibility that they will start to fall again, or that this is all part of a manipulation scheme, but either way it is worth knowing that I was able to attain these two hats before the inevitable rise in price would make them unattainable to me. I only wish I could have afforded more of them :(

Whatever happens, I am in it for the long haul, and will never be parting with my beloved antiques of RS history. I am sure nobody is going to read my post and think much of it...but it truly does make me feel warm and fuzzy inside to know that I secured ownership of TWO hats that will someday be the most elusive item in the game. <3:

The spectral looks to be falling already. And Partyhats are raising due to more people wanting them now that they are "affordable" and merchent clans. But the otehr 3 spirit shields will continue rising. For a while atleast, I don't know about you but 1/2 the Pictures of G.E. has a elysian spirit shield buying in one of the boxes so demand, for atleast one spirit shield, is high. Very high.

3rd age is just like animal hats were, only muuch longer term. They aren't that good but when you see it you hear, or atleast read, yourself or someone say "nice armour". But one day, it'll all crash and it will takes months till it hit's its "proper" price.

New Siggy in progress.

i could careless about paper hats, 3rd age doesn't have any significant cause for me to buy one, and spirit shields are just too expensive. :D but every items in runescape will drop eventually.

Spirit shields are released at a faster rate than third age. so at this rate spirit shields like elysian and Divine will crash as soon as 3a crash. this will probbaly be when divine and elysian each go 500 mil + respectively. Third age will crash after each of of them double's its ge price.

personally i believe phats wont even raise another 10 mil before they crash again, they have no use, cept to show off your wealth, while third age has a use and looks kind of neat( if you know how to wear them correctly).

edit; didnt see it had already been posted

I'm gonna be walking down an alley in varrock, and walka is going to walk up to me in a trench coat and say "psst.. hey man, wanna buy some sara brew"

walka92- retired with 99 in attack, strength, defence, health, magic, ranged, prayer and herblore and 137 combat. some day i may return to claim 138 combat, but alas, that time has not yet come
