Best Setup for Solo'ing Rex?

Been forever since I've been to the DKs... just wondering what the best spell to kill Rex with would be, along with the best inventory/equipment. I sold my SGS a while ago, but I've got 96 summoning so I could use a yak and/or a unicorn. I was planning on using battle robes and a staff of light... didn't know if I should try out fire surge or use a godspell instead of battle robes and SoL or use slayer dart, or what. Suggestions?

Don't use battle robes, you're going to need all the defence bonuses you can get with 89 defence and yak. Use yak with guthans and EE. Bring one antipoison++ per yak pouch. Use fire surge with staff of light. Bring 2 brews per one restore, you don't need to fill your whole yak with them if you don't want, I'd say 20 brews and 10 restores total is more than enough for 4+ hours, especially if you are up to speed with guthan healing.

 

If you hate using guthans you can use full verac + soul wars cape and leave mage prayer on, bring like 8 brews, 8 rests and load the rest up with prayer potions. This method is more expensive but requires far less attention. Personally I think maging rex is really boring when you just stand there waiting for the next spawn so I always use guthans now.

 

Edit: If you decide to go the verac route I have a suggestion in mind with your stats. I will test this some day, but I really want to try a solo hybrid rex/prime. Use the full verac setup, bring karil's top and crossbow. When Rex is up lure him to the safespot near prime, when he is dead, fire away at prime, when rex spawns again grab him and kill. Finish off prime, telegrab tally/axes/rings/bones (if you have yak, hides too if you don't mind). With this method you can probably get 1 prime kill per 2 rex without sacrificing rex killing speed and without having to worry about pulling prime.

Full verac, dfs, mystic boots, dfs, fury, sol, and SW cape. I pray mage, and use ee. Works like a charm. BCP is better if you want more range def but don't mind losing prayer points.

I used the guide here on Tip.it for my setup. The Guthans Maging setup

 

I end up taking more anti-poisons and less brews and restores then the guide. I also use a unicorn. I can stay at rex for well up to 4-5 hours. Probably longer if I bothered to take more runes and unicorns.

If you have void mace use CoG otherwise Fire surge and SoL.

For the best gp/hour use guthans and yak.

Bank all the hides and all the bones using the scrolls its a lot of gp per kill (20k+) guaranteed which adds up when you consider you can get 25 to 30 kills per hour. As your using Yak you need guthans to heal (ee helps too), but veracs alone without uni would eat a lot of potions.

 

PS don't use slayer dart as its low damage and will end up taking a lot longer per kill then you'll want.

If you have soul split then it + ee easily cover the damage.

Do you flash soul split too? If not I can't really see how just an EE would keep up.

Guthans, Staff of light, fury, infinity boots, crystal shield/dfs, Seer's ring or ring of life, barrows gloves, and soul wars cape/skill cape for gear.

For unicorn setup I take 2 brews, 6 restores, 5-6 prayer potions, and ee, and 3 antipoison++

Why not tribrid instead? It's much faster money. Not to mention way more fun.

I've been tribriding before, and it is indeed a lot of fun. At the item of posting, I was just in the mood for solo'ing Rex. I got pretty bored (as usual) after a while, so I'll be tribriding next time probably... but that's after I get tired of killing TDs :P
