L0rdAki
Due to an unfortunate series of events, for a while I'm limited to a laggy laptop. Connection is laggy at best, sketchy at worst. I need a way to make decent money...semi-afk methods or just risk free methods prefered... I'll do farming runs about 2 hourly, depending on access to the computer. I'm only expecting about 200k/hour absolute tops... If someone could help me out, that would be great. I have 30m pure startup cash at the moment. SomeWelshGuy
I've always found MTK to be a good background money maker. 10 on herbs, 5 on raw fish, put 7.5m in and just leave it for a while. You get a nice bit of profit for doing absolutely nothing. Retired Tip.It Crew Mapper.
Thewizard
Mtk and farming are going to be surefire profit and should be around 1m a day if you check herbs 3 or 4 times a day. So all you have to do is play for 20 minutes a day and check your herbs for 1m a day. L0rdAki
Hm, I'll start looking into that, since I have boots 3 and a decent amount of startup. To give you an idea of how laggy I am: -Gwd is out of the question, even with a team. Something I can pray against that only uses one style, a little damage on the side is ok (have sw cape now :D) an example is barrows and under intensive. -switching loading screens alot totally kills my connection. Piu
How did you do Nomad if you're so laggy? O_o On topic: You can do Ranarrs while fletching. Or cannoning green dragons while fletching. MTK is a must. EDIT: Sinister chest runs is REALLY good money. Best on RS if you meet optimal requirements. L0rdAki
I did nomad on my lag free computer. My attempts kept me up till 3am, and my victory celebrations at gwd kept me up another 24 hours... My access to that computer has been compromised :P How would you profit fletching? Also, I can't do greens....revs are too risky with lag, and I can't get kills. Blues are an option, but I dunno how to do them or anything. Edit: I'll look into enchanting bolts, I was looking to train Mage anyway. As for sinister chest runs, I vaguely remember something from Runescoop. How would I go about that? Drops: Black Mask.Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff. Piu
I forgot how. But it's doing arrows/bolts, not bows. You can check G.E prices, I recall a profittable method. You can do Nechyraels(sp?) too, good drops. EDIT: Sinister chest, well. You need to have all weight reducing equipment. And Pack Yak to get 2M gp per hour. It's possible, but profit rate is still pretty dang high without pack yak. L0rdAki
Ah, it would be fletching broads? Also, I'd love to range blues, as mentioned in the last post...I just don't know how to go about it. RSBDavid
I would try and do things that make money themselves, like MTK, merchanting, ect. Some semi-afkable skills you can do to make money include woodcutting, fishing, and slayer. L0rdAki
Actually, merching doesn't sound half bad...I just have no idea how to do it, as I always sell for minimum and buy for maximum on the ge, and I have a hard enough time getting supplies as it is. qeltar
Most of the better *consistent* moneymakers are not sensitive to lag and not risky. You can do pretty much anything that is non-combat or where you use prayer or the monster is weak; it really depends most on what interests you. L0rdAki
Bossing and running around splurging money like a madman interests me. Making money is the annoying bit. I know about most of the consistant methods...I was hoping not to have to resort to rcing or mining coal, though. They really annoy me. I also know not of these weaker, semi profitable monsters of which you speak. Drops: Black Mask.Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff. qeltar
This should give you some ideas for combat at your level. I don't think there's much there that would pose a serious risk to you even on a laggy connection. There are plenty of skilling options as well. Speedsktr
Skilling is definatly your best bet. There are so many ways you can make money, even on a laggy computer. For years I had a terrible computer - I lagged every move I made and couldnt easily do much, but was still able to make money with skilling. While it was harder than it should have been to do because of the lag, I didnt have to worry much about dying and losing my hard earned items. Try to work on your skills until you get your other computer back. You might learn to love one of them and make a lot of money in the process. All_Is_Great
If you want to merch, you need to have patience, items won't buy instantly below mid, and they won't sell instantly above mid. But if the item is stable, they will sell and you will profit.
la la la
Runecrafting is always good. Sounds like you got grounded to me.
Mischlings
As for merchanting, what you do is find items that are often traded and are relatively stable (small fluctuations of a couple percent are fine), put in an offer below mid and WAIT (the most important part) until they've all bought, put it back in above mid (I put it in the same amount above mid), then wait for the 4 hour limit to finish. With 30m starting cash, you should be able to make ~1.5m a day off of flipping (this type of merchanting), not including any other money making methods. L0rdAki
Runecrafting is always good. Sounds like you got grounded to me. Sshh.... :P I'm testing greens to see if range can ks some people, if not I'll look into merching, fletching broads, and runecrafting. L0rdAki
I've decided to rc, as well as occasionally fletch broads to sell, while farming/MTKing. How does that sound? I'll have to pull out half my house, though, so i don't lag too badly :( Drops: Black Mask.Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff. Tempest_Mike
There are greens rev free in the chaos tunnels, but it might be a bit hard getting the kills there over other people because of your lag.
L0rdAki
Sorry for the bump, but... I've found that i've a lot of spare time often sitting around at the ge while waiting for my kingdom to collect or my herb timer to go off. I do fletch my broads, but I get really bored after i've done them...Is there anything that i can just do sitting at the ge? Someone mentioned in my other topic that Stringing Unfinished bows is a good idea. What about something like making unf pots out of clean herbs? Just something that i could do at the ge (or at a bank, so i could use a magpie) that i'd make a bit of profit doing? Drops: Black Mask.Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff. Mischlings
Unfinished potions can be a really good moneymaker (~2m or so an hour, depending on the market). As with everything herblore related, after you check the prices, do a test transaction (buy 1 herb and vial, sell the unfinished potion) to see how close it is to the median price -- herblore supplies are rarely traded right at the median, so just do tests like that to make sure. After that, then you can put in your offer for more. It's a much better source of money than you'd think at first. Also, if you want to mix in a bit of herblore xp as well, you can buy grimy herbs, clean them, then make unfinished potions out of them. However, if you just want the cash, just make the unfinished potions. If you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.
