A new maximum level?

I still believe that skills should be unmetered, at least the non combat ones, where the more xp you get the higher your level. Why should it be restricted? If someone had 400 wc that would be impressive.

I think it'd be nice to add more levels. My only concern is they haven't filled the void in all of the skills for level 90+ they need to complete that before they start adding more level's to already established skills. I wouldn't mind going for 120 fishing though considering I enjoy the skill.

I swear to God if level's 99 cap get removed I will give up with my life. 3 years to get 2 99's then all of that work was for nothing.

chill out, I started playing runescape in september of 2001, and failed to acheive a single level 99...

There is nothing wrong with removing the cap, the idea of having 2 skill capes keeps the feeling of achievement for getting 99 while making lvl 120 a new achievement.

It would be a good idea to introduce worlds (especially bounty/pvp worlds) that would ONLY allow folks with lower than 99 skills to enter.

Oh geesh, I just had a thought (and my ominous ones often come true).

Remember how they were planning to update Smithing?

I'd probably quit if the level cap was boosted to 120. Seriously that would mean one maxed stat(at 120) would equal about 9 current max stats. I'm not saying I play this game for just 99s but I do like having some sort of feeling like I can actually achieve a 99 without having to spend my whole life for it. Been playing rs for like 6 years and I only have 130m total xp, 104m xp for one maxed stat would kill me.

We need more controversial updates!

With all the controversy, more players will quit, thinning the population of Runescape... weeding out the ones not truly loyal. It started with the removal of the wilderness, then the constitution updates, now this. Those unworthy, those to divert themselves from the path of Runescape are not fit to be in it. It is the ultimate test of faith! In the end only two shall remain! Zezima will rule as King and Mark Gerhard as his Queen! Why? Because...

Well, how about this. The 120 cap is made only for people who have a lot of 99's. They get to the bottom of daemonheim, get 21 more new exciting levels to grind, and BAM, they stay in runescape for another four years or so.

Suddenly Jagex seems so desperate when I had read this :D

I've been thinking about it, and I would love it if the Lvl cap was increased. 99 Still gives you the normal cape which trims normally and all that. It's still called Skill Mastery, just it gives them more room to make skill rewards. Lvl 120 could give you a new cape or something with even more bonuses or something, like a % thing for the skill it's for. We always needed something for smithing, so why not? All 99s will still be a big achievement, just all 120s will be like all 99s was in RSC or something. No one has it so it makes it a new achievable thing.

Even if it's a dumb story, telling it changes other people just the slightest little bit, just as living the story changes me. An infinitesimal change. And that infinitesimal change ripples outward-ever smaller but everlasting. I will get forgotten, but the stories will last. And so we all matter-maybe less than a lot, but always more than none.

I highly doubt the Level cap will be removed for other skills, Since that will put other levels such as Combat Level way out of line making PVP and MVP alike very messed up. Corp's Level will eventually be reached by a player, Meaning Jagex will have to release more and more high leveled boss's to compete with the ever growing players combat skills. I think this Dungeoneering 120 level cap is a one off; Showing Jagex has thoughts of prolonging future skills giving much more accesability to spread the thinsg people can do over the levels alot more. Dungeoneering is a very big skill with alot to do in it, so that's why (Imo) the level cap is 120.

Or, they could just use logic. You know, reduce the exp rate, and add in more content per level. It would be the same in the end. All that's lost is the novelty of having a skill over 99.

Sometimes it feels as if Tip.it is filled with blind optimists.

Sorry if this has already been posted however I noticed an "official" Jagex Mod hint.

In the post (Change to Dungeoneering on f2p) within Recent Updates forum at the bottom it says,

We are aware that players who trained the skill over the last 24 hours have gained additional xp because of this mistake. We apologise for the short term effect of this on the high scores. In the long term, this has only effected 0.2% of the total xp needed to max out the skill - a tiny effect on the race to lvl 99.... Or indeed to 120.

In my opinion a good change.

Seems like this question have got its answer. However it will still, in my opinion, look strange with one skill that has a maximum level of 120, and all the rest 99.

Yeah i know what you mean, although i think once we have people around those lvls we will better understand the decision to have it that high.

This is a nice first step into removing the 99 cap. I've been waiting 5 years to get my attack stats above 99 as base levels... Really hope for a removal of the cap in the next year or so...

I really can't imagine this going down particularly well within the community. Many people will be furious that they got 99 in a skill and they're no longer the best they can be in it.

It's certainley interesting.

I have 17 99's and would be ecstatic if the cap was lifted.

Personally, I would agree with you. Roll on the higher level content in my opinion. As I stated in a later post there would be mass upset amongst players who train to max one specific skill say.. cooking

I believe this to be the reason why Jagex wouldn't do it

I would recommend against a different kind of cape for 120. Capes make people feel obligated to train to a level, and I know many people quit simply because they decided to go for a boring 99. I understand that people SHOULDNT feel this way, but they most definitely do.

Instead, I would say let the levels grow past 99 for the sake of improved speed and the like. For example, I'll use fishing as an example. Let fishing levels go up to 120, but don't release a single fish past level 99. The higher levels merely serve as a way to increase your speed while fishing. That way, the skill "caps" at 99, but truly diehard fans of the skill can push past 99.

In the case of Runecrafting I would still not recommend access to any more guaranteed rune multipliers, but it would improve your chances to bind 2x bloods etc. But your chances, not giving you 100% success. (I would also recommend allowing there to be a chance for 3x nats, astrals, etc.)

I'm aware not all skills have "partial rewards" (IE, things that allow higher levels to increase speed/efficiency without adding in new available content.) such as slayer, herblore, smithing, etc. Levelling these past 99 should simply be for aesthetic reasons.

I truly believe its a good thing. I play runescape strictly for fun, and having levels capped at 99 hurts some players but also helps others. I believe jagex addresses this, as they gave skill cape at 99 AND 120. Going back to what I said previously, I play for fun, my skills arn't superb, but the skills I dont like, I just dont train, but I do really enjoy certain skills, and allowing me to pass 99, increases the amount of gametime I will ultimately have in the game (which makes me happy) which also gives jagex more money (which makes them happy).
