Looks great IMO. Also if you look on the splash screen Dunegoneering trailer, you'll see water reflections which were mentioned in the RuneTek 5 Dev Diary. Can we perhaps see those soon?

IMO, those reflections had better not come before HD compatibility with older Java is restored. Too many people are having PC problems right now because Jagex forgot to maintain compatibility. And NO, most people are unable to just upgrade on a damn whim, so don't even start in with that load of cabbage... :angry:

I don't like it. Past he HUGE banner. It's exactly the same as the old layout, only it has been mirrored.

The "play" button is way to small for something so important.

 

About her long neck: If you pay attention, a lot of artists make that same mistake. It's quite common.

Really not a fan. There's so much empty space. And no I'm not referring to the space created by the new centering--I rather like that--but rather the very, very large logo and pretty art they put to flank the page.

 

I would like it if they made up their minds as to which outdated resolution they're designing for.

Im pretty sure the shield is a primal kiteshield. And i do not like the new look. If they really changed the game name to that, i will be extremely disappointed. Lets just leave it as runescape. No need to advertize the newest way they can not quite get something right the first time. We all already know anyway.

That's what I was thinking. I've spent over 30 minutes looking all over for a pic of Poppy but I can't find one. I can't even find her on jagex's youtube channel :cry:

 

Firstly, Mod Poppy actually has pink hair IRL. Secondly, that does not look like Mod Poppy.

I'm sure the woman's clothing is making it appear longer due to the lines on the collar, and how big the collar is, but i've seen people with long necks before. So, I'm not too bothered.

Hm, I don't see anything wrong with her chest... but she does need a necklace though, possibly one of the new necklace rewards? A choker maybe?

 

And as someone pointed out, i'm sure that the warrior's armor is Primal, the 'Snarling' face on the chestplate kinda gives it away. The bright red metal really gives it off that way too. (I believe Promethium is Maroon, but i'm not picky.)

 

The only problem I have with this layout is the placement of the 'Play Button'. Really tiny button on the top of the page isn't really cutting out for me.

(I use the RS Client. yes, I'm a newb for using it, but it makes playing run smoother on this computer.)

There was a system update to fix something in standard mode, so have a Jagex Mod says in RSOF. But according to the number of rants on the forum, I would say that it produces more issues than the fix suppose to be. I updated my Java version after looking at the new page. It provide 3 solutions, first try create a folder for it, 2nd, log into your computer as an admin and do run RS that way. Finally, update your Java. Since I don't want to do anything yet (because my C drive already have a dedicated folder for RS, not sure why they want us to do it again).

 

I will leave the game alone for now until they try to do something. I think you can still play, just in safe mode and with no lobby action, and it seems people get lags and dced more often than before.

Personally, I like it, I can't see anything wrong with the woman and can't seem to think why anyone else should think otherwise, other than the fact her eyes look a bit large.

I dont like it. It makes you feel like they changed the whole name of the game because of one update and I dont see any reason to put the top bar in a less accessible location while taking up a giant chunk of the page for a big graphic and tiny logo. I really hope they change it back. I do not want this turning into WoW

About the page: I first thought I got on the WOW site. RuneScape is really heading into a new direction with their updates, a direction I'm quite disliking.

You're not the only one that doesn't like it. And I'm upset due to technical reasons. Most people don't have tons of money they can spend on upgrading stuff left and right. Further, people don't like being flipped the "go upgrade" birdie... :angry:

If you can't upgrade your computer then common sense will tell you that you won't be able to keep up with the latest games, not to mention ALL MMOs have their system requirements go up every few years.

 

I was able to build my own computer to play the latest games on maximum settings, for $600. Building a computer to play runescape would cost a pittance in comparison.

 

If we stifled innovation and progress every time someone was left out, whether it be by choice or not, then we would still be on dial-up because not everywhere has broadband/dsl/cable, playing our text-based games because "not everyone has a super compooter" and eating garbage because "not everyone has enough money for fresh fruits and vegetables."

 

It's like when the US announced it would be joining much of the rest of the world by switching to digital broadcast instead of analog, and thousands of people went nuts because they had to spend ten bucks (The boxes are 50, but everyone got a $40 voucher) on a converter box. What a bunch of crybabies.

It seems to me you are whining about someone whining. I have a feeling that if those games changed their specifications and rendered your $600 worthless, you might be slightly frustrated with them.

 

On the other note, if we tried to controll innovation and invention, we would end up with price controls, and government run corporations, and windfall taxes, and other such nonsense. Also, Al Gore would never have invented the internet, gossip and rumors would not be able to propogate with such speed, we would never be able to know if Brad and Angelina were together this week because Gutenberg would have been hung for heresy. The Sun would still be thought to orbit our flat Earth, and we would all use sledges like the Incas (a wheel-less civilization) because Og would never have invented the wheel!!!!! Life would be like a field of cabbages, would it not?

You do know that the whole logo can be clicked to play, not just the tiny "Play Free Now".

 

Personally I really like the new clean look the website has. Although I do agree with the people that said the navigation bar at the very top looks out of place.

But they don't. When is the last time a game group completely changed the specs for a game, so that no computer could run it? You see, your argument is flawed. Omali said that his computer could run any game at max settings. That would imply that any change to prevent his computer's running games at all would prevent anyone else, or else a great deal of others. You see, game designers and creators don't make games which no one is able to buy. They do upgrade what they have and require, but they don't make unplayable games.

This... ^ ...is a bit more towards what I was getting at. :-s

 

And here's the de-flawing piece of information this thread needs:

Jagex has changed things in their games lately, and in a manner that has sabotaged more than just one stable config I have access to. But, even worse, it has sabotaged a large chunk of the RuneScape Community, of which I am only one person in a huge pile of utterly angry users who have been more-or-less left behind by the major change to the game code. Making a game unplayable in this manner, when Mod MMG said that their game would be back-compatible with at least Java 1.4.x (Earlier, actually... :arrow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dfg73DE7iv0&fmt=18 ... Start listening from 9:10 [m:s] in to hear it...) series, is worse than bad business. Even worse bad business when you consider that some of these ancient systems need to run the game in HD mode and utilize the hardware acceleration they have, or they will crash so hard that I could attach a tv show reference to describe the crash... And heck, I happen to have one of those anomaly configurations here, which I happen to use! :angry:

And yes, I agree with one of the comments above. It does look like a second name. "RuneScape: Dungeons of Daemonheim", it's just like a new expansion pack was released...Granted, while you could call a skill that, I don't think it's necessary.

 

 

On their add at Jagex.com they have refereed to it as an expansion pack... which I am not a huge fan of as I always rearguard expansion packs as an actual product on a disk, and does not really refer to cloud gaming

 

Eh, an expansion pack is another way of saying 'a big chunk of additional content'. The form it comes in is irrelevant.

 

It does look like a second name though, but at least it's catchy.
