As Arnold Schwarzenegger would say: "It's not a rumah!" Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is very real, and was unveiled by Capcom last week at its Captivate 2010 event. As you can see in the trailer above, the series is going fully polygonal for round three, with visuals that its publisher says deliver "a 'moving comic' style, blurring the boundaries between 2D and 3D graphics." Save for the fairly mundane cityscape, we'd have to agree that the characters in the video look like an evolution of what Capcom was able to deliver in Street Fighter IV. Also of note: The game is being built using the MT Framework engine, which powers Lost Planet 2.

It's coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 in spring 2011. The producer and "total" director of the game (the trailer credits actually list him as such!) is none other than Ryota Niitsuma, producer of the superb versus series fighter Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. In fact, Niitsuma expressed his enthusiasm for the fighting genre to us back in January of this year. Now we know at least one of the reasons why. As for the cast of characters, the trailer (and artwork in the gallery below) give us clear looks at Ryu, Morrigan, Wolverine, Hulk, Iron Man and ... Resident Evil's Chris Redfield.

We've taken a long hard look at the silhouettes that appear behind the Capcom and Marvel logos are the start of the footage (and, again, in the background of the official art) and have, we think, identified some of the other characters, including Dante, Viewtiful Joe, Chun-Li, Frank West, Captain America, Dr. Doom, Deadpool and Super-Skrull. We know you can figure out the rest, right? There have to be some good ones, as Capcom's VP of strategic planning and bizdev, Christian Svensson, boldly claims we're in store for "the most epic fighting game ever developed."

So, who's excited? :)

EPIC NEWS. I almost made a sticky out of this :$

"Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable - a most sacred right - a right, which we hope and believe, is to liberate the world."

Some new impressions have arrived from EVO 2010. Looks like Capcom have made some changes between the E3 and this latest build.

Perhaps the biggest change which has been causing the most waves in the fan communities is the removal of universal air-dash and universal double jump. Only specific characters can air-dash and double jump now, and in this build those characters were Iron Man, Morrigan, and Dante. This effectively makes air combos much shorter and less effective, and severely limits your combo potential. People immediately began selecting teams filled with double jump/air-dash characters just to extend their combo opportunities. This change looks like it might be one that could severely alter game balance, however, we do know that the game is trying shift away from repetitive dial-a-combo air combo strings in order to build diversity between characters. This simply doesnt appear to be the most effective way to do it.

In the E3 build of Marvel VS Capcom 3, players used the Tatsunoko VS Capcom system of tagging. By that I mean, you pressed a partner button to call in an assist, then held back and pressed a partner button to tag. However, many players did not like this because you couldnt call an assist while blocking, which made characters very susceptible to pressure. In this build, the tag command has changed. You now tap a partner button to call in an assist, and you hold a partner button to tag. Many fans are calling for a return to the two button tag command, but Capcom seems very set on keeping the command to one button and one button only.

Yes Yes YEEEES! The sole reason i found TvC more engagin than MvC2 was the tag system, MvC3 should be awesome, there are even rumours it may also be headed to the wii

And they need more Deadpool

Edit: what is that thing he is holding in the hyper combo?

Health bar XD

That just raised this game's coolness level to astronomical.

Stay classy Deadpool. Even going so far as to hit them with his own healthbar.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.
