SteveMiddle
Okay so I started looking into Runefest and I thought it would be a great time to go travel to London. I am planning on bringing my girlfriend and spending the whole weekend there. I wanted to know if any English users had any suggestions on sightseeing and other romantic places to visit. If you you guys/gals got any other advices or warnings regarding the city please feel free to reply.
Hobgoblinpie
I'm not sure what Hyde park is like at this time of year, but that might be worth a visit. The London Eye is always a popular choice. If you intend to go shopping, you'll be looking at Regent Street (If you're into A&F, it's on the corner of Saville Row) and New Bond street. New Bond street is generally clothes dominated, while Regent street has Hamleys and a few other flagship stores. Trafalgar square is alright, but it gets quite crowded during the day. Danqazmlp
Camden is pretty fun. The London eye for definite. I went to London about a month ago and apart from those, the main memorable one was the British Museum, but it depends what you are into really. Want to be my friend? exodus199
London dungeon and tower of London both good, especially the dungeons although it was about 5 years ago that I went but I remember it was really entertaining
Danqazmlp
Oh and if you plan on going to a lot of places, I highly suggest buying a day pass for the underground. you will rarely be more than 5 mins walk from a station and they are only about £4 for unlimited travel. RSBDavid
If you are 18 or older, visit the pubs  . They have some great beers I hear. I am going myself later on. [software Engineer] - [Ability Bar Suggestion] - [Gaming Enthusiast]
tortilliachp
Natural history museum. Sounds nerdy, but is interesting for all. look into scedules to get a free (or really cheap) guided tour to a section that interests you. It's got all the famous booty from Britain's collonial past, Rosetta stone, mummies etc. etc. etc. ad infinitum. Madamme Tousaud's wax gallery is also fun, seeing famous people life-size. If you're an artsy person, National Art Gallery is also insane. It's like the Louvre where you cannot avoid recongnizing some of the greatest paintings ever made. If you haven't been to one already, try to catch a football match if possible, it's kinda like being at a baseball game in the US: an experience not to be missed. Mollerz
I'm from just south of London, so I'll just step in here. First, get a day pass for the underground, you will spend your days travelling without one, with one, even though they are busy, and can be pretty confusing, it's great. If you have an iPod Touch or iPhone you can get an app which will show you everything you need to know about the London Underground and if you have 3G internet or have access to WiFi, which there are some places in London, it will tell you if there are any delays or closures too. National History Museum - As said before, this place is amazing, I'm a sciency person and despise history, but I love this place. I've been 4 times and I haven't even seen everything there yet.Science Museum (Get an IMAX viewing something, trust me. It's not like your American IMAX) - There is so much to do, you will run out of things to do, you can go here all day, and still not have seen 90% of it.The London Dungeons You can get through this in a few hours, maybe one or two, since it's not that big, but once again, well worth a visit. If you are one of those touristy people, then do the London Eye, it is expensive, but... might be worth it if you don't plan on coming back. It's one of those "You have to do this" things.Lunch at Covent Garden. There are LOADS of street acts and there are a bunch of great places to eat here, HIGHLY recommended.Shopping down Bond Street & Regent Street. The most expensive places you will ever go, but have a browse anyway, there are such a variety of shops here. Even with the extortionate prices, you will still walk out having bought something.Pubs - It's Britain, pubs are everything, if you haven't been to a pub and you have been to Britain, you are missing out. This is about all I can think of off the top of my head, if I think of any more things I will post it. Click my signature for my blog!
Giordano
Runefest London dungeonHehe. AHEM. I know nothing of touristic London so I cannot say, but when there watch out for biscuit* slinging madmen. *They look like cookies "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." Azvareth
I really enjoyed walking through Soho when I went there in 2005. A lot of small record and music stores, and an all-around idyllic and charming town. London is probably my favourite tourist destination.
anonymous_user
Check out Camden. You can buy lots of cool stuff there plus sometimes you'll be able to haggle. Look for a shop called Cyberdog, it's cool. Museums may sound unappealing but I do recommend checking them out. As has been previously said, the National History Museum is amazing.

SteveMiddle
Lunch at Covent Garden. There are LOADS of street acts and there are a bunch of great places to eat here, HIGHLY recommended. I looked up some pictures of this place and it seems very nice. I will go there for sure. I wish I had a girlfriend who would be willing to go to RuneFest. She is not going willingly. I guarantee you that I could walk up to almost any female in her 20s and ask her to go to London with me and she would say yes. I mean what girl would refuse such offer. The main reason she is going is because Runefest is only one day thing and then she will have all my attention for the weekend. Plus she kind of knows I might be "poping the question" on this trip. Who knows...maybe Mod Mark can hold the ring for me. :-D

SteveMiddle
@RpgGamerI thought it would be very clever. She will probably think I'm paying little attention to her but then I'll be kneeling down before she has a clue of whats going on.
l0rd
My suggestion: be a pedestrian. If you're coming from out of the country, I think it is best to dedicate a large portion of time to walking and familiarizing yourself with your foreign destination. Sure, I'd recommend specific places like The Tower of London and the London Eye. Also, maybe go to a historic house or two, those are pretty cool there. Johannas
It's definitely worth going there for more than a weekend. I travel up about once a week for shopping/gigs and it's well worth it. Just google it tbh - depends what you're into, there's something for everyone. - Tower of London/Museums/London Eye/London Dungeon/Madame Tussuads/St Paul's Cathedral are just a few attractions off the top of my head. I usually just spend the day bombing around Camden, you can spend a whole day there just chilling out, taking photos, buying crappy clothes, buying all sorts of cheap food and 9/10 there's a decent band on at a local pub/venue. Good luck with your gf Thank you to tripsis for an awesome sig!
