Maze
I consider LPs and game footage on Youtube to be free advertising. I wouldn't have bought Terraria if it wasn't for a LP I saw of it.

The Observer
Does it mean uploading videos of gameplays will be illegal as well? If so, Machinima isn't going to be too happy.

I believe so, but don't quote me on that. sarg1010
I consider LPs and game footage on Youtube to be free advertising. I wouldn't have bought Terraria if it wasn't for a LP I saw of it. Same for me. S. 978 is literally so that the government can ask people: "you mad bro?" Seems pointless. Being able to umadbro is not pointless :evil:It is in this case. It affects more than just Machinima and RT (although they will get screwed big time.) It affects ALL sites like Youtube. That link I posted describes it. First off, S. 978 fails to identify the nature of the broadcasted work, which means that it is fatally over-broad. S.978 appears to apply to all copyrighted works, insofar as Title 18 Section 2319 applies to them. This means that the most incidental copyrighted work, when “publicly performed” in some manner for the requisite period and the requisite amount of times, could get the offender thrown in jail. It seems ludicrous that, for example, a photographer would need the protections of the criminal law if a photo he took, framed on the wall, was visible in 10 videos posted on YouTube by some random “vlogger.” I personally wonder if this goes for EVERY item, such as Nike shoes or something to that affect, could get you in trouble. And in case I am wrong, and this is going by Notch's blog post (or whatever) uploading won't be illegal if you have the copyright's permission. Not 100% on that though. Not 100% on that though.Which will still [bleep] with the common man. Who has 50 Cent's agent on speed-dial to ask him for permission? It's ridiculous, really. Which is why I never paid any mind to it; legal or illegal. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." jasignhagj
I think a lot of game companies will take advantage of this and offer licenses to upload content. After all, they're in it for the profit, and it's more profitable to take a chunk of Machinima's profit and get free advertising than it is to shut them down. That of course is if it passes. I urge all of you in America to call/write your Senators and Congressmen and tell them that they will lose your support if they vote in favour of this bill. Giordano
Well, how would they know anywhow? Machinima.com would just recieve video films and not have to ask for legal permission. Unless Machinima sells out. Which it might, knowing their reputation. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." champion
^ That first article is pretty misleading apparently. The CEO wasn't the "mastermind" of the fraud, he was just partially involved in it. The guy who actually began the scheme will most likely get life in prison. I could find a source if you wanted, but yeah it's not what it looks like. Riku3220
15 years for $100 seems a bit harsh to me, either way.Surely 15 years of jail is going to be better than his current situation if he had to resort to robbing banks. At least in jail he gets a bed, a roof over his head, 3 meals a day, health care, showers, and other things you wouldn't get if you were homeless. Guest Rob
A friend of mine recently got "This too will pass" henna tattooed on her. The artist spelled it as "This to will pass". I was laughing pretty hard when I pointed it out, but it annoys me that so many people mix that up. Especially henna artists.

Ginger_Warrior
We drive on the left hand side here, and I think New Zealand does as well if I'm not mistaken. Why doesn't the pedestrian just go across where the red and green arrows start? If you run you could easily outpace any car coming round the blind side. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

Nomrombom
No matter what, if I'm crossing a street and the side nearest me has an opening in the cars, I will stand in the middle of the lane, waiting for the other side to stop/open up. I don't give a [cabbage] if I piss people off, nobody stops for pedestrians so we have to do what we can to cross.
