Rinoa437
Last week I posted a topic asking for what equipment I should use for Slayer and got a lot of great input. I've looking it over and I've decided what I want to buy, but I want to make sure it's good before I go spending the gp. Here's what I plan on using: Head- Slayer HelmNeck- Amulet of GloryBody- Dharok'sLegs- Dharok'sFeet- Dragon BootsHands- RFD Gloves (Adamant)Ring- Warrior RingCape- Obsidian CapeWeapon- Abyssal WhipShield- Rune Defender Also, I saw a post from another player where a Range set up was discussed. I realized I would need one for monsters that attack with Magic so I came up with this: Head- Slayer HelmNeck- Amulet of GloryBody- Black D'hide BodyLegs- Black D'hide ChapsFeet- Snakeskin BootsHands- Black D'hide VambracesRing- Warrior ringCape- Obsidian CapeWeapon- Abyssal WhipShield- Toktz-Ket-Xil (Obsidian shield) Even though it is a Range set up I still plan to fight with Melee. I'm not necessarily looking for the best Range armour there is just a set up that gives me a decent Magic defence at a reasonable cost. For example this set up will give 99 Magic defence and cost me under 300K extra. If you have any suggestions for changes in either set up or questions as to why I picked a certain item please post. If not then tell me to go ahead and start buying. STATS[hide][/hide]

thunderlord
Why Dharoks instead of Torags or Verac's? I like using Torags body and legs myself. last time i checked dharok had same stats as torags, but it was cheaperI personally wear: dharok platebody and verac plateskirt (prayer bonus) Also when you have enough money, buy a fury :)
skylor12344
dh isnt cheaper than torags anymore the legs are around the same price but the t pl8 is cheaper than dharoks.
SirIzenhime
what about guthan's platebody? I remember awhile ago it was the cheapest plate. Fisher/Woodcut------Me-----Miner/crafter----Stabber----Leecher ^Golvellius must be so proud^
skylor12344
thats what i use and with v skirt its more than efficient for 90% of my tasks (other 10% need either prayer or mage def xD)
Rinoa437
Why Dharoks instead of Torags or Verac's? I like using Torags body and legs myself. I prefer the higher defence bonuses of Dharok's and Torag's over the prayer bonus of Verac's. After looking over the two sets I decided that Dharok's was a better fit for me. Not only is it cheaper (not by much I know), but Torag's set effect only applies to PVP, which I never do. I know I need all items for the set effect, but I'm looking to the future in case I do buy a full set and Dharok's would be the one I'd want. Rinoa437
Also when you have enough money, buy a fury :) I already plan on upgrading it when I get the gp. I'm also going to upgrade the gloves when I finish RFD. STATS[hide][/hide]

skylor12344
i know i just thought i would point that out, plus dh isnt really efficient for slayer as a lot of the monsters use more than one type of attack or require a special item therefor making it ineffective as a slayer set

Also, Dharok's has good defence against all but Magic, that's why I have a Range set up in my first post. STATS[hide][/hide]
Slaykan
I prefer torso and torag legs/ verac skirt, just because torso was free and gives decent def and str bonus. Good Timber does not grow with ease, the stronger the wind, the stronger the trees. There is dignity in suffering, nobility in pain, but failure is a salted wound, that burns over and over again. Troacctid
Your magic defense setup should just be the same as your melee setup, but with d'hide body and legs (which you could optionally upgrade to Karil's when you feel you can afford it). There's no real need to use things like snakehide boots. Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP
krimi
Your setup looks fine.If you have the time, you should try working on barrow gloves from rfd and an accumulator from ava's quest. If you're using a safe-spot, you may not need the obsidian cape and shield.
Cptbaker08
Head- Slayer HelmNeck- Amulet of GloryBody- Black D'hide BodyLegs- Black D'hide ChapsFeet- Snakeskin Boots Dragon BootsHands- Black D'hide Vambraces Best RFD gloves, Adamant in your case until you can get betterRing- Warrior ringCape- Obsidian CapeWeapon- Abyssal WhipShield- Toktz-Ket-Xil (Obsidian shield) Rune DefenderWhen using that against creatures you need magic def, like bloodvelds and others like that, all you really need are the Body and Chaps for the defense. Keeping the rest as offensive items will help you out more, giving you the ability to kill them faster and in return allows less time for the creature to deal damage to you. If the creature uses actualy magic attacks (such as spiritual mages and those infernal mages), and not magic based melee, it would probably be best to use protect from magic on them in prayer gear. Decent pray gear would be the same as your melee gear with either monk robes, initiate plate and legs, or if oyu can get them proselyte plate and legs. tedbundty
Melee - is fine but could be better. - Replace rune defender with DFS - Replace Glory with Fury - Obviously replace Adamant RFD gloves with barrows when you can. - I prefer ring of wealth to warrior ring but that's up to you. Melee with mage defence - needs some improvement - As before, replace Glory with Fury - Replace black d'hide vambs with your RFD gloves - replace snakeskin boots with dragon boots - replace obsidian shield with either rune defender or dfs (when you can afford) ................................[Currently Have - 1300M].........................................................My Beginner's Merchanting Guide - My Youtube Channel - My Twitter

Cptbaker08
Why would you replace a Rune Defender with a DFS on Slayer? My thoughts exactly. Only places a DFS is > the defender is when killing wyverns and dragons. And its only good on dragons if you don't have super anti-fire potions. tedbundty
Why would you replace a Rune Defender with a DFS on Slayer? Because most slayer creatures don't have high defence so the extra accuracy from rune defender doesn't do all that much, not to mention you get +15% to attack when wearing black mask. With A DFS you get hit less because of it's amazing defence bonuses, often allowing you to fight with no food at all or with only a bunyip, you get the +7 strength bonus and +10 mage defence bonus, too, whereas rune defenders give +5 strength bonus and -3 mage defence. ................................[Currently Have - 1300M].........................................................My Beginner's Merchanting Guide - My Youtube Channel - My Twitter
Low C
Free Rune Defender >35m shield, plus the defense it supplies is not noticable when slaying creatures other than dragons and wyverns. Also get a berserker ring > warrior > wealth.
Obtaurian
Rune Defender > DFS unless you're fighting Wyverns. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.

The extra accuracy increases the chance that it will hit, the more often you hit the faster you get kills and the less you will get hit resulting in lesser amounts of food needed. With a full slayer helmet you get +10 mage def there, and how many tasks do you need all that much mage def on?
