I personally don't think that post count entails posting quality. Look at my post count; it isn't that big, but my posts all have valid and intelligent points to make.

I think I used to care, but only when I had a few hundred posts. Nowadays I just post whenever, sometimes adding to a discussion, sometimes not, but I rarely ever even look at my post count. I look at other people's post count, though. If they have less than 100 or 200, and joined within the past couple of months, then I usually just ignore their post, since it *usually* contains bad grammar, spelling, and overall poor writing. Join date also catches my eye. I tend to give the poster more respect if they joined before me, or at least before 2008.

I know what you mean. :razz: I pretty much felt the same way when I joined TIF. The majority of my posts during that period were in Clan Discussions and Wars & Run-ins which is a place where there is a tendency for less quality posts to be made. So needless to say I spammed those forums up nicely. :lol:

Quality > Quantity. I never really cared about post count, although if someone posts a link and it's their first post, it's more likely I will not trust them. Plus I've learned who makes the most interesting posts , from being on those forums so long.

Yeah year joined actually can be important more often than post count when judging people. I remember back on scapeboard only having around 700 posts because I didn't make an account for like a year and then still didn't post very often for a long time. I more less knew people even if they didn't know me, and knew how the intricacies of the forum worked.

i think everyone who was around then would disagree considering the majority of the posters were much more intelligent. this was back before jagex made RSC prettier (RS2) to attract kids. the quality of the forum has since decreased, especially the miniclip era

I tend to be biased towards people with a higher post count and a longer membership (I trust someone who has been here since, say, 2006 over someone who has been here since only 2010). I usually use those as indicators of commitment to the forum. However, if the person is newer and displays maturity, that goes a long way as well.

 

Of course, I wouldn't accept a link from someone who has only posted a few times. I'm just paranoid, I guess.

It's all in the sig. If someone has a good sig, they probably are a good poster. Nah but for real I totally judge posters, but only how long they've been here.
