tortilliachp
Oh please, England were way better for the whole match, USA got lucky because of the rare goalkeeping mistake. Probably because of the fact that the ball isn't really good this World Cup.That's such an exaggeration. England might have had the edge but it wasn't a slaughter. As for the ball thing, "A poor craftsmen blames his tools."If you actually knew the first thing about football you'd of heard there have been plenty of complaints about that ball. according to press here, there's been at least 4 goalkeepers that have complained about every world cup ball pre-tournament without having played a single match with it sinc eth early 1970s The reality of the matter is that Green's mistake can't be put down to the ball either: it went in a perfectly straight line, his hands were angled so any reflected ball was going to hit the goal. This year's ball is lighter than previous ones, so his mistake would have been larger with a normal one: the own goal would have happened even more quickly. that's basic physics. A draw was a fair result, of course everyone is going to hope that their team is better than drawing USA, when the press is having a frenzy (like every world cup) how this time "football's coming home"
OldJoe
Even tho i'm a Toffee, i have to give cred to Gerrard. Ok, without Green's mistake they'd won, but they had 50min to make up for it. Not impressed by England from what i saw yesterday and the last couple of friendlies (yes i know how they did in qualifiers). I also think Crouch should be played instead of Heskey, even tho that changes their game plan. And the ball, there's been alot of complaints from players on different positions. I've tried one of those myself, and the ball has a very plastic feel too it. Aaargh, I want to see the Germany-Australia match today. It's 3 and a half hours away. <.< Hoping for a draw, probably the best we'll get. Though people have been saying 2-1 in favour of Germany is more likely. :|

BloodAngel
Hopefully Green's incompetence in goal will mean he's a bench warmer for the rest of the cup (which might not be very long for England). That being said, England shouldn't have been in the position to have their chance of victory ruined by one goal. If they want to win the world cup or at least get to the semis they need to start converting more of their chances. It's going to be interesting to see who out of England and the USA win that group  "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale." i_love_burritos
Haha, awesome picture Adrenal. Tomorrow is the match I've looking forward to for weeks. Go The Netherlands! :) Against Denmark right ? Yeah, I'm going for Netherlands aswell, [sadly, I dont know their team too well]. I just want Denmark to lose for some reason. IDK why :? Is there some rivalry between Denmark and the Netherlands ? Seems like it from what I've read on this thread.
Bouwzie
Yeah, Denmark. And no, not really any rivalry. Lots of Danish players have played in The Netherlands though. Hell, their coach can even speak Dutch lol.
fastortoise
Is it just me or were all the matches extremely boring? (Don't count any matches within the past 12 hours, I have been sleeping). Man, watching soccer/footbalal really makes me miss hockey  Anywaysw, I know this comment is super late, but Ireland should have qualified instead of France if the game wasn't rigged. So I've basically lost all interest in the game ever since the ref didn't call that handball in the penalty area.

OldJoe
Crap. I just realized i'll miss Ivory Coast - Portugal. Gonna be in Sthlm visiting a friend, and i already cancelled the date once so can't really do it again lol. Tonight Australia - Germany. I think 3-0 or 3-1 (Cahill scores) to Germany. tortilliachp
Germany looking good. indeed. don't know how good though, because of the matches i've seen, germany has been the only team to use their backs aggressively. that's pretty much been defining in champions league / world cup play since Germany 2006. It'll be really interesting to see when teams like argentina, spain, England and Brazil double on the sides with their backs, for crosses. hard to compare teams before they all play to win though. Bouwzie
Australia aren't really good either. But yeah, Germany is doing great, even without Ballack. Özil is pretty damn good, and my favourite German player Lahm is doing good aswell. Hope Löw will bring in Toni Kroos too, awesome young player. ThurinEthir
Australia is done without Cahill...But Germany has been playing great. First team I've seen so far to be generating so many good chances, though I haven't seen too many games because of the times. Lateralus
Don't see Werder Bremen holding on to Özil if he continues to perform. From the looks of things I'd take him at Liverpool. La lune ne garde aucune rancune.

l0rd
I'd really like to see an African team win this. My prediction is Germany and Spain, though, Germany winning the final game 2-1.
