Chaotic Kiteshield > Divine Spirit Shield?

Am I the only one who had no idea that the titan's bonus is actually applied visually to your armour bonuses??? I knew what it did... just never noticed it was actually displayed.

Nope  Well that is awesome, I never actually looked to see the difference.

Realy wish that it was applied to your defense level, though.

Wow, no! That would have been a nice "did you know". Now it's spoiled of course :-)

I guess this kinda changes things, as the steel titan stacked with the chaotic shield bonus would be mega defence.

If you be meleeing then dragonfire and +8 str is better than 0 str another 20 def on choatic and pittly amount of damage reduction.

I won't talk to divine.

Its gaudy and semi-useless in my opinion.

If you want high priced junk get spiritual or arcane.

They serve more of a purpose.

Dragonfire shields give +7 Strength.

A Divine is one of the most useful items you can have for soloing bosses or PvP, the 30% damage reduction shouldn't be underestimated, not to mention that it also lets you work out what your opponent hits on you before they hit by looking at your Prayer, so you can stay much lower HP.

It sucks ass.

You satisfied?

Summoning is one of the most useful skills in the game, it's incredibly useful in both combat and non-combat situations. Ignoring it's benefits is nothing short of idiotic, and there is no reason not to train it.

I don't do "bosses" and there is only one place where I PVP that you can even use divine.

And in that place profound armour set + turmoil/soul split = divine + junk slaughter time.

As I said semi-useless for you totally useless for me.

P.S. Try WOW and then tell me summoning in RS is good.

On the RSOF, search shield analysis. The OP is named Warlock, and it goes through a in depth comparison of Divine, Ely, and the Dungeoneering shields.

17-18-401-60773960

That topic doesn't have much info on the first page about the Chaotic at places like Bandos though. Assuming that there is an equal chance of it reducing 1% damage as there is it reducing 20%, you'd average 4% of the Graardor's Ranged damage reduced. The Chaotic is nowhere near as good as an Elysian or Divine, but because of it's stats it's the 3rd best shield for the majority of situations in RuneScape where Defence is required. The special effect is barely worth mentioning though.

For example, for the Chaotic to be equal in terms of HP saving to the Elysian (ignoring their stat differences), you'd need to be fighting a monster that maxes at least 700 with Ranged, can't be prayed against and have no other monsters attacking you at that time.

Does that mean Elysian's going back up? Only reason it crashed was Chaotic Shields tbh.

Elysian were never worth their street price, so I'd be surprised to see them go back up to what they used to be, but no, the Chaotic won't replace the Elysian. The only problem is, a lot of people don't listen to reason and buy items regardless of whether there are better alternatives or not. There are still people who believe Ely > Div as "Div wrecks Prayer."

I don't think they crashed because of the Dung shields, they crashed because they were worth more then they are, it couldn't last forever as they are not discontinued items.

These shields also become more common, a crash was inevitable and the rise of Dung shield might have (had) little unfluince on the price of todays shields but it wasn't the cause of the crash.

Besides i'd pick grinding 500M over grinding enough points to buy a shield any day, i hate Dung and reeally tried my best to get it to lv 66.

Last but not least, the Dung shields are a joke, i can't think of any encounter where one of those shields would be better than anything else.

Talking about end game shield here, just wanted to mention it so people won't mistake "anything else" with a wooden shield or anything.

Unless ofcourse you create an unique encounter yourself without any real gain then it might be usefull to be useless.

In the end how you twist or turn it, useless remains useless.

I agree, everything about the skill is lame, and how they implented the skill is even more lame.

But i don't regret leveling it, nor do i dislike leveling it or disliking the skill as a whole.

If i'd be given the option to Pk with a truly unique one of a kind weapon that one shots anyone and anything it would also be lame just as summoning but i would still use that weapon and not regret using it, catch my drift?

I'm pretty sure that they are better than spectral and dfs just from the stats, and better than spctral because of what little difference the effects make, so not useless.

Body bodies/shields are [bleep]in useless.

I don't see the farseer as a joke, 17+ mage att. With the 20% melee def

He probably means it's a "a joke" because it's not comparatively worthwhile when up against being able to choose any of the melee weapons.

Well yeah, but if I wanted to get technical I could say that if you made 1-2m an hour you could buy an Arcane in around the same time.

But no, I'm aware of that. :) I myself don't plan to buy anything until I have enough for 2 items. I'll probably buy a set, such as Chaotic Staff and the Farseer Kiteshield, or Chaotic Longsword and Chaotic Kiteshield. Not too keen on the Ranged set...

However, most of the people on TIF are efficiency freaks, and if they did buy two items they would likely get the Crappier and CiaLiS.

I think the main topic of this thread is pretty much over though... #-o

Only 20% if the damage would have hit over 200.

Recently bought a chaotic kite, and from fighting mid to high levels in safe pvp such as clanwars and soulwars, I can say that I am disappointed by the effect. Rarely does it stop more than 15 melee damage, and I can't imagine it being even close to elysian, nevermind divine. The high base defense bonuses are nice, but that's really the only reason I'd buy it.

Granted, the effect most likely would be more noticeable while in combat for a longer length of time, assuming there is some place where you're frequently getting hit 200+, but like I said, even elysian would destroy it there as well.

The reason the Chaotic Kiteshield is good isn't because of its effect, it's because of its bonuses. With just the effect it averages a 4% Ranged damage reduction on Graardor (less on the minions as they max lower). For the Chaotic Kiteshield's effect to save more HP on average than the Elysian's, you'd have to be fighting a monster that only uses Ranged and maxes at least 700 (and can't be prayed against, of course).
