You forgot to add that it needs the lunar spell book?

I think that saying "The ability to use the 'Humidify' spell" covers that one, but thanks for pointing it out.

I think this will last for a long time. The demand for tele tabs will be ever lasting, as will the supply of clay and supply of astrals. It may become less profitable, but i think it will always be a decent way to make cash.

Yeah, prices won't stay this way for long.

I'd do this if I had already done the quest, but I haven't haha - Good idea anyways, could be useful for some questers

The prices won't stay AS profitable, but i have a strong suspision that this method will last. It may make the other clay softening methods redundent, but hey... That has to be 25,000 bots wiped out in one update.

I only did the quest recently (i did quit for a while afterwards). If you have the requirements for the quest, DO IT! The spell book is seriously useful, good for money, too. Filling vials can be a good mix between cash and magic experience. You can also humidify instead of alching. You just get a fishbowl, put it underneath where the humidify spell is (so if you didn't move your mouse you would click in the same place) and then use the inventory switch hotkey (F6, i think?) to empty the fishbowl, then use humidify to fill it. The experience is better than alching, as you can empty and cast again before the animation finishes. It is around 3gp per 1 exp, which is a reasonable amount considering the speed.

25,000 bots eh? wut?

Presumably by bots you mean the kind of machines that work 24-7?

so at all times, 10-50% of the runescape population currently online is nothing but clay mining bots

yeah, uh huh :P

humidify is humidify, humidifying clay will eventually get to the point that it is roughly on par with the profit from filling empty vials and such.

the reason this method won't last, is because the market for it is tiny.

Just how much clay is there in the economy?

it just doesn't have the "market inertia" so to speak, to sustain itself.

I better get to mining clay then, I need to satisfy the market!

How is the market for teletabs in any way "tiny"? I personally use anywhere between 5 and 20 teletabs in an average day of getting about. I bet that a majority of other P2P players use at least 1 teletab per day. PKers, people on different spell books, people saving inventory spaces... They all make up an absolutely huge market that will last for a very long time.

As for the thing you said about bots, there are so many things wrong with that statement. Most unbanned bots would be on for no longer than 8 - 10 hours per day, during which they would perform one task. The reason why i said it would get rid of them is because softening clay is one of the well known bot tasks. No skill requirements, no large monetary requirements, it would take 5 minutes to make a suitable account for it.

I mean, i guess the market for anything could be considered huge relative to a player.

Like I'm sure that hundreds of millions of gp in teletabs is consumed per day.

but all that matters is how much the market is, in comparison to the rest of runescape.

Consider this, Law runes aren't even on the list of top 50 most traded items in runescape.

and teletabs make up a tiny fraction of that market.

I was making a point that 25,000 bots is still a ridiculous number.

so lets assume they play for 10 hours a day.

that means an average of 10400 bots are online at any given time.

I refuse to believe that 10k out of the 50k-150k RS accounts online at any given time, are just sitting around softening clay.

assuming that the owners aren't generous enough to give these accounts memberships, that's ~200 bots softening clay per f2p world?

and how many banks are there in RS?

it's still a ridiculous number even if I just assume that they only play for 8-10 hours a day.

how long do you think this will last? :P I don't think very long.

and you need dream mentor..., with those freaky level 343 beasties

Dream Mentor is easy. You can easily safe spot the end fight.

Anyways, this won't last very long. Supply will always > demand in RS. It just takes time.
